AN ACTION PACKED TWO-HOUR SEASON PREMIERE WITH JAMES CAAN AND TOM SELLECK--The Montecito is in utter chaos along with the lives of the casino staffers. The murder of Mary's (Nikki Cox) father may have closed a chapter from her past, but leaves everyone else wondering who actually shot him. The list of possible suspects quickly narrows when an incriminating cell phone video mysteriously surfaces. Back at the casino, Ed (James Caan) has the tough task of trying to figure out who robbed the Montecito and if it is an inside job. Meanwhile, Mike (James Lesure) and his team are working overtime to solve the murder and robbery and are shocked at what the footage reveals. After barely escaping the explosion, Delinda (Molly Sims) finally gets the chance to tell Danny (Josh Duhamel) her secret. A kidnapped Sam (Vanessa Marcil) proves to be a tough girl after all, when she tries to escape from her captor thousands of feet in the air. If that isn't enough for one casino to handle, they now have to meet the new mysterious Montecito owner, AJ Cooper (Tom Selleck.)
----------
I have been waiting many months to see how these cliffhangers play out. Will Sam escape from the rich psychopath, Who shot Mary's Dad, Did Delinda survive the explosion, Who robbed the Casino? I saw the preview for the first episode of season five and it looks like the season premiere will be an exciting episode. Is it Friday yet?
Have you checked out the Las Vegas video diaries on this website. They are definitely worth watching. My favorite diary entry is the one where Vanessa Marcil recaps the season four finale.

This is one of the shows I was most looking forward too. I really like this show, it's fun & clever. I liked how it opened w/Sam explaining everything & loved how she said "I'm gonna need more than 1 hour, I'm gonna need 2"
I was really glad Ed didn't die even though it was sad to see him leave at least his character is still alive. I liked the goodbye wave Danny got the from video playback. I was suprised thought at how little conversation there was on the fact that Ed was gone. He WAS that casino! I know they were trying to down play it cuz Tom Selleck was coming on but please. All Danny said was (To Delinda) "You miss your parents" I hate that. Everyone should be more upset that he left especially Delinda.
I liked how the first hour wrapped up. Gonna have to see how this AJ Cooper thing works out. Not sure if I like him yet or not.

LOL You gotta love Mike! My 2 favorite lines tonight were about Mike.
1) When was talking to Danny about Delinda's baby how breast milk can help conjunctivitis (sp) & Mike said something like - How does Mike know everything?
2) When Danny met AJ Cooper & he said he worked survillance & security & Cooper said "You work for Mike?" LOL

I can't believe how great this was!
Yes, I did see this show 2 other times, and it was so-so, didn't come back, but NOW! WOW!
I loved every part of it. The acting was fantastic, the energy was perfect, the pace was right on the mark, and I never even "noticed" the stars on this show until tonight!!!!
They are the best actors! I'm shocked, I tried to watch before, but could not stay with it, now I will be here every show. I noticed things about every actor I didn't see before. AND NO, it did not have anyting to do with Tom S., I love him, but I like that I found the actors so good this time around!!
Maybe it's true, Anything can happen, it did for me tonight, I saw this show in an entirely new light, I LOVED IT, and I'm sold! It goes on my every week list.
You did fantastic this time!!!!

Loved the two hours. Great writing. The thing that keeps me hooked was in that short scene with Francis and Danny about the baby's name in the hallway. Priceless. Solid work from all.

This has always been my favorite show till now thanks to Tom Selleck (bad choice). He has never been at the top of my list as an actor and never will. Till they bring back Ed's charactor I guess I will be watching some other show.

I've never watched this show before.
When I saw that Tom Selleck was going to be in it, I tuned in.
I liked it....and will probably watch it again.
Selleck, as usual, was great.

I like Tom but not in this show I think he messed up the chemistry, and I really hope they stop making Danny out to be a idiot trying to impress him he has always been the #2 guy behind Ed and was ready to step up and take over ( althugh it'd be better if Ed were still there) now they seem to be making him look inept and apparently next week they will have him and Mike "compete" for the president of operations

don't get me wrong I love the Mike characters but he's NOT the #1 guy he's great support staff and comic relife but making him Danny's boss is just stupid.

This was a nice start to a promising season. I thought the two hour season premiere did a very good job mixing the dramatic elements with the comedic elements. There was plenty of both components to entertain the viewers. The first hour was highly engrossing as we watched the cliffhangers play out. I was immersed in these storylines. The second hour was light-hearted and fun. I thought the slogan "Anything can happen" was very fitting. Anything can happen and usually does on "Las Vegas". This formula has worked for four seasons and will continue to do so.

I used to enjoy this show alot....but they make too many major changes every year!
First Nessa left....then we had to deal with Monica and a whole new Montecito...Ed left...Ed came back...Casey came...Casey left.
Danny sleeps with half the staff...Danny settles down. Mary, a grown woman who is stuck on a childhood love.
Now the new season....Ed may have been a little Godfatherish at times, but he was the show, it worked.
But now we have Tom Selleck (who I am NOT a fan of) playing a billionaire Forest Gump! No major meeting...the rest walk around twiddling their thumbs. Delinda has gone from being an airhead to totally maternal? Her parents are gone, and she's pregnant with their first grandchild and she's not grieving?
And whats with having Danny walking around in a fog...he's proved before he can run the security of the Casino and now he's like "duh". Why should he have to fight Mike for the head job...hmmmm if life were so good to go from head of valet parking to head of security!
I do believe we will be seeing the last season of Las Vegas...if there were better storylines and some stability of characters this show would bring in the viewers and they wouldnt have to cut the cast and have others walk.

Ummm.Ok.You're wrong. It was the season premiere for "Numbers" also and they didn't win the night. The LV premiere beat the "Numbers" premiere. This is going to be an excellent season for LV. Here's what I think. Cooper seems to be watching Danny alot more than the rest. With Danny, he is what he is and I think Cooper may respect that. On the other hand, Mike is showboating a bit...but I do think Cooper was very impressed with his investigation of the card counter. But I still have a hunch that Danny may be the new prez. What do you think?

i think you are right. cooper does seem to have more interest in danny more than anyone else. and i think with mike he can definitely tell that mike is a very smart guy but mike tends to suck up a bit even if he's not meaning to. cooper seems like the type of guy to see through that kind of thing. plus on top of it i don't see mike being given the job over danny because josh is the lead of the show. mike is almost too fun loving to be the president if that makes any kind of sense. so yes, i think it will eventually be danny too. next week's episode will be really interesting.

Yep, next weeks episode looks pretty intense from the previews. Looks like Danny and Mike duke it out. Maybe Cooper "tests" each one of them to see how they do. I just get the feeling if he chooses Mike, it will only be temporary. ( I have nothing to back up that statement!) Anyway, Danny seems more intense than Mike to me. Plus, Cooper likes people that think outside the box--so would that be Danny or Mike? Remember in the office how Mike said he was the "normal one"? I don't think Cooper is looking for "normal".

The only way this show was salvagable after James and Nikki left is if they reinvented the show. Instead they kept Danny and Delinda together which is boring and now we will have to hear her whine all season even more.
I was looking forward to Tom coming on but his character left me cold which was very disappointing.
I thought the editing and the send off for Mary and Ed was absolutely terrible. I don't know anyone who wants to continue watching after that horrible premiere.

Since I am new to this Series, I'm unfamiliar with how it has changed.
I sympathize with those who are disappointed, because I know how it feels to be invested in a TV series and then have it go through a lot of changes.
This has happened to me before, on other shows.
I like the character of Cooper, played by Tom Selleck.
I've had occasion to meet some down-to-earth millionaires, in business...and the character of Cooper rings true to me.
There really are some guys out there like him.
Self-made, wealthy enough to do something eccentric with their money, more interested in doing what is 'right' than what is profitable.
So often, millionaires are portrayed as evil money-grubbers.
And a lot of them are.
But...some of them aren't....and they do some pretty cool things with their money.

Just got finished watching it! Loooooooved it! I was against the idea of Tom Selleck replacing James Caan but he won me over. He's not Ed. He's not trying to be Ed. GST did a superb job writing in Cooper. He's unconventional just like Vegas. I just about cried when Ed waved goodbye. Maybe will be able to catch up what Ed's been up to when Gillian appears. I read on Cheryl's website that she will be on this year, so at least we aren't losing her too. Then there's my black and blue Sam. This is why she's my favorite. She goes through this horrible thing and is still trying to be the tough girl but underneath you can see how much it's affected her. I hope they continue this story to future episodes. I can take or leave Danny and Delinda but this was one of their better shows. They were funny although not nearly as stupid and best of all they didn't take over the entire show. Mike rocked. I don't think he'll be Prez but I still love him.
CDBacon - there's plenty on Friday's including CBS's entire lineup which used to sweep NBC all the time.
