I just have to say that I have never watched Las Vegas until last night! What brought me to the show was my love for Tom Selleck's career. I think he is a perfect fit for this show, and I found myself laughing quite a few times, once he appeared last night! I have been a longtime fan... and I can see myself watching this show every week from now on...
Good Choice NBC !!!!

I agree that Tom Selleck is a great actor and I love most things he's done. but I disagree about him fitting in, I was very disappointed in the episode and didn't like the way they tried to force his charater into the mix and seemed to mess up the other characters to fit around him. I guess if you had never seen the show before I could see how it would look good but compared to what the show was before this was just awful.

I totally agree. I actually didn't know the show existed until I saw the commercial for Tom Selleck coming to the show. I watched the premier last night, and it was pretty cool. I will definitely try to catch it again. Tom Selleck Rocks!!!!

Same here!
I had never watched this show either.
But when I noticed that Tom Selleck was going to be on it, I made a point of watching.
Loved the scene on the horse.
It's good to see Tom again....in
anything.
Tom Selleck enriches any show that he is in.

I watched it again and noticed a lot of little things that I missed the first time.
"Anything Can Happen"
I loved how Cooper was mulling around the casino observing things.
And I loved his solution to the cancer-doctor's cheating....very Solomon-esque.
He could have ruined the guy's life.
Instead...he chose to send him home with a lesson, and told him to "go save some lives".
Kudos to the Writers, that was a good bit.
I hope there are more scenes with Cooper and the little manicurist-lady.

looks like tom has brought a lot of new fans to the show. i liked that scene too where he sent the guy home. it was a good bit and it also showed how they aren't trying to make cooper into ed's character. if that was ed, he would have beaten the guy up and thrown him out. which was awesome of course but i like that they aren't trying to make them the same character.

Watched the 10/11/07 episode.
I totally enjoyed it.
Tom had some good scenes....wish there had been more.
I like the Danny/Delinda storyline, it's cute.
Mike trying to watch over the beauty contestants and figure out who was doing the sabotage, was fun to see.
Funny scene in the elevator with Mike and Cooper and the bikini.
Sam got her man....the murderer...that was a great scene on the golf course when Danny showed up with the gun.
Danny carrying the baby picture (sonogram) in his wallet was cool, and a nice touch.
Hope this show continues.
I'm hooked.

Tom Selleck - Cool Character
I think there is a lot we don't know about Cooper yet
This is just the start of the season and I think that we are being fed a little bit at a time about old Cooper. It they told us everything all at once then the series could just end now. As much as I will miss Ed, I am excited to see Cooper developed. I have always been a big fan of Tom Selleck and I think he will do the show justice. So far I have been very please with this season.

Tom's still got it..back in the 80's I was hooked on some "P.I."..It's good to see him back on again. I like the writers keeping him mysterious..but I could do without the "Magnum " reunion next week. Last week, Cooper almost seemed to BE Magnum-(solving a crime w/hotel security)-TC & Rick will be on the show next week..(Larry Minetti& I forgot TC's real name)..it could be interesting..we'll see. As long as cooper doesn't get locked out of his suite & yell "HIGGANNNS!!" at the end of the show..

Tom Selleck CHARM ! Where is it?, Please SMILE !
I am a long time fan of Las Vegas but a longer time fan of Tom Selleck and Magnum. I am so happy to see him back on a TV series. But seriously - seriously, we've got to get more of Tom into this role. While recognizing that this is not Magnum, it is still possible to add levity, charm, a smile or wink at the camera or some other evidence of his past relationship with all of us loyal fans.
Look at us! We love that look into the camera when something stupid happens.... Ok all you smart directors, writers and producers of Las Vegas, if you want to make this show history, keep Tom as this standoffish, uninvolved, cold, mystery character. Las Vegas, as a show will soon pass into the archives of former shows. C'mon! Let him charm us! He has an infectious smile, a great propensity to engage us with a simple wink. Just because you're a CEO does not mean you lose your entire personality!!!!!!!!
Hey !! Wake up NBC. You've got a big fish here - stop pulling him away from his natural talents and let him make this role his own!
- a loyal fan and loving the fact that he's back. Not loving this character...yet....

I know what you mean.
Tom does have a wonderful smile.
And it would be nice to see his jovial side emerge in this character of Cooper.
We got a brief glimpse of it, in that scene where he was giving away those pickup trucks.
And there have been a few half-smiles, here and there.
It would be nice to get more than that.
Last night, in Ep5.5, we were given a clue about Cooper's somber demeanor....
In that scene where Mike was getting Cooper's help, in Katie getting away and going into hiding...after she left, Cooper put his hand on Mike's shoulder and said "I know how you feel".
That's all we got, but it implies that Cooper has lost someone that he loved, maybe a woman.

I love the 'wise ole fox' type of character that Tom Selleck is playing in this show.
It's great.
- Calmly making strikes in his bowling alley while the big Vegas bosses are tearing their hear out and complaining about the stripper strike.
- Telling Sam in a very calm, nice way that her numbers are down and she needs to get after it.
- Having measured, thought provoking conversations with Danny which cause him to use his brain.
- Buying a Strip Club so that he can give the strippers benefits...and cause the other Strip Clubs to follow suit, thereby ending the strike.
Love it.

I love Tom Selleck as Cooper for Las Vegas. I have watched Las Vegas before and found it trying to be like the Goodfellas. I believe Tom Selleck has enriched this cast and the show with a cool and traveled character instead of the thugish - brash type. I know Las Vegas can be portrayed as many things but I can't wait to see what Cooper does. YEAH NBC.

as i can best summize, cooper is a friend of a war buddy that was killed in the gulf war. Piper is the daughter of that buddy. Cooper took it upon himself to honor a promise from his friend to look after Piper (his daughter). cooper has honored that committment. in otherwords, cooper is taking care of his war buddy's duuaghter which is piper........
it was in the last episode at the end of the show. remember when mike was chastized by cooper to mind his own business but mike/danny thought they were having a fling. not so as cooper was not amused by his persistence.

I just want to say that Tom Selleck's character is great. I like him as the owner of the Montecito. Please keep him on. Don't get me wrong all I like James Caan's character too. I would love to have him back as well but both have similar characters. Caan's character was more passionate while we see Tom Selleck's character being more cool and in control. Both good strong characters for the show. Hopefully, we'll see some episodes on how Caan's and Ladd's characters are doing in the future.

Tom Sellick will always be Magnum PI, hawaiian poser. I am a native of LV and even though set designers on LV show are good their reality is NOT close.... SHOULD of gotten rid of Molly sims AND Vanessa when cast change. James Cann character was close as gonna get. BIG mistake taking him off...Will never waste time watching new episodes.

Tom had what is the hardest thing to do, come in to an established show , following an iconic character (Big ED ), BUT he pulled it off . Sure he isn't in the thick of it , but 19 episodes in and we are now getting to know a little more about him.
Its down to Tom being such a good Actor.
Its great to have him on the screen again , roll on season 6 .

I have to agree.
I've been watching the show since the very beginning and it is one of my favorites. That always worries me as they seem to cancel all the good shows and keep those garbage reality shows on. (R.I.P. Journeyman, Bionic Woman)
When James Caan left I thought the show was digging it's own grave. I am happy to say, I was wrong.
Since Tom's entrance I have to say that the show has soared to the top. He has added an amazing dimension of mystery and intrigue to the show that is much better than Deline's character could have brought to the show.
I like how Cooper could kick ass without even throwing a punch. Not that a good fight once in a while isn't bad either.
