Jasper reveals his wife was part of a Russian scam targeting American men who marry Russian brides. Crews and Reese find themselves trying to track down the Russian ringleader of this scam, a man who appears to be untouchable. Crews also learns Constance Griffiths (Brooke Langton) was involved in a physical altercation with one of her clients. Adam Arkin and Brent Sexton also star.

Excellent episode. Truly excellent!
Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Ha!....When Charlie glued the little angel to the dashboard.
"Industrial Glue."
"It's what holds us together."

Reese likes Charlie now, she's starting to talk like him.....Charlie is rubbing off on her.

Charlie has tattoos? Probably prison tattoos.
He didn't think that he was ever getting out.
I'll bet he learned that dislocating-fingers-grip thing in prison.

I think we will be seeing Roman again.
Somehow I got the idea that he likes Charlie. Maybe because Charlie did some serious prison time?
Garret Dillahunt! I love him....he's always good.
It's great to see him again.
He is an incredible actor......and can play a reeeeally scary bad guy.
I wish somebody would give him his own series.

Bank of Los Angeles Shootout????
Which partner? Stark?
Roman didn't say ex-partner....but I think he meant Stark.

I just love this show.

If it was 15 years ago, it was Stark, so I think that's why he didn't have to say it. I think Roman and Charlie definitely had a bond they shared. Charlie ran all the way to the elevator at the station to shake his hand and say it was good to meet him!?!? The Roman's call at the end. It is indeed possible Roman will surface again. And if he's that involved in giving information to the police---which got him off here---that means he HAS lots of information to give.

Also thought prison gaurd looks like Roman in the preview for next show ?

What was Dani's undercover job ? Drugs and the Russian Mob ?

They haven't given us much on Reese's undercover job...until tonite.
Roman seemed to know an awful lot about her, which was creepy.
He said something about her falling for a guy while she was undercover...and getting him getting her hooked on drugs.

Hey...how did you know about the guy named Roman ahead of time?

Hmmm.... This episode has me 'back on track' with loving this series. I wasn't thrilled with the previews, but boy, what an interesting episode.
Roman..... I'm not sure what to make of the last 5 minutes. I'm PRE-TTY darn sure Charlie isn't fond of him WHATSOEVER. No fondness, respect, kindred spirit stuff going on in HIS mind. First, Roman is a killer. Second, Roman was rather BLUNT with his partner. He didn't look like that was appreciated AT ALL.
I really wonder WHY Roman called. I believe it is to toy and torture Charlie. I don't think Stark had anything to do with the heist, but oh what fun for Roman to send Charlie on a vengeful goose chase.
IMHO.
AND, IMHO.... good riddance to the lawyer. Enjoy the Big Apple, baby. Charlie sure doesn't need you toying with his emothions.
Sigh.
But we all know she won't actually be going anywhere.

TWSS = That's What She Said.

And I agree....Charlie doesn't like Roman. Got no indication that he likes him, he called him the 'devil', and did you catch the look on Charlies face when they were bringing Roman in?
But...it would appear that Roman has respect for Charlie, and seems to like him.

Also...I loved it when Charlie caught up to Cudahy in the mens room.
What was it that Charlie said?
"I wish I could bring myself to forgive you"...something like that. As he was pummeling him. laugh.gif

Fallen Woman was excellent. The sub agenda (the heavy stuff) is somewhat subterranean to the lighter comedic side, but never distant. It's wonderful to have this rich twining of the two and feel satisfied at the end of each episode. This show is a real treat - writing, editing, acting - refreshing and first rate. I hope NBC's smart enough to keep it and promote it.

"I know how guys (Homeland Security) like you work. It's all about the power isn't it?", said Dani. Bet she learned THAT from Daddy. When's he gonna show?

Best episode so far imho.

NBC, please keep Life alive. It has great potential.

This show just keeps getting better. I am sure that we will see Roman again. He is just too interesting of character to let go. I think the thing with him at the elevator was a respect thing. Even if Charlie believes him to be the devil, he does offer a level of respect that resonants with Roman.

I'm dying to see Charlie's tatoos.
memrysaver
It seemed like Roman was referring to Stark rather than Dani when he said "partner." I think that it is more likely he is connected to the missing money rather than her father. Did you see where the article showed upon the Conspiracy Wall?

I really liked this episode!! The whole..glue the angel to the dashboard with industrial glue..that was great!! LOL

It took me a while but I finally figured out why Charlie beat up Cudahay (sp?)..it was pretty sweet to see Damian fighting like that. I liked how he told the guy who said he called the police, that he (Charlie) was the police.

I think that the guy who called Charlie and told him about the shootout at the L.A. bank was talking about Dani and not his ex-partner.

Can't wait for more!! smile.gif

I must have missed it--why did Charlie beat up Cudahay? I know he told Constance he was guilty and a liar, but what did he actually do?

this was the best episode yet, Charlie and Reese have such great interactions. this is definitely my favorite new show of the season. smile.gif
Charlie asking Dani if she wants to see his tattoos was just classic. and Angel who makes great carrot cake haha.
gurufly
He beat up Crews's lawyer.

He beat up Crews's lawyer. Sorry for posting twice in my haste.

Loved the episode. The ex-partner had Guilty written all over his face since the beginning, now we know why. Although Latas' suggestion that he's just sending Crews on a goose chase could be true too. Why would Roman help Charlie with anything? Unless he seeks some kind of his own revenge on some of the same people involved in that robbery (and Charlie's set up) and wants to use Charlie to start shaking the boat?

I'm glad the lawyer is out. I like the actress, but whatever romantic connection her character might have had with Charlie during the trial seemed to be lost. On Charlie's side anyway.

Reese seems to be a little too sensitive perhaps...? It seemed that she lost it pretty quickly when the woman began asking questions about her faith, and later with Roman. I can imagine her getting really annoyed (to mildly put it), especially with Roman, but still. A cop can't be so vulnerable and so easily provoked in front of suspects. I know, I know, she's going through some serious stuff in life, but still.

Loved the show's humor as always, like when Charlie was trying to defend two kids who threw a mannequin off the roof from Reese; or a prison-mate Angel who bakes great carrot cakes...

Definitely my favourite show of the season!!

Whether it was a respect thing (although I wouldn't exactly use the term respect) or a "Here I am, I'm not afraid of you", at the elevators, I do think Roman likes Charlie and I hope to see him again in future episodes. Especially since an earlier post mentioned that Roman may have his own agenda for telling Charlie about the LA bank shootout. Didn't occur to me until I read that.

I'm not to sure how much I should read into it or how absolute/accurate the writers are with their wording of the script. For me, there are 2 ways to interpret the "ask your partner" phone call from Roman.

1.) He didn't say ex-partner, so, Roman wasn't talking about Stark. He explicitly said "partner". 15 years ago was to long ago for Reese to be on the force, but remember, Reese's father and Lt. Davis used to be partners. Plot thickens.

2.) The writers aren't infallible and although they didn't say ex-partner, they still meant Stark. That would seem to fit the 15 years time frame. Although Reese's father may have been a part of something, I doubt asking here would help: she would've been too young and I doubt her father is going to blab his dirty business to his family. Hence, Roman menat for Charlie to ask Stark.

To early to tell anything right now. I don't think we've seen all the players yet. Great series and I just want to give NBC props for putting their series online. I work the late shift and 95% of time I'm sleeping when most shows are airing.

Thanks!
matlock242
Great show !!

Liked all the angel stuff like the woman who caught the first feather had an angel on her shirt and the dark angel comic at the store. But who was the girl at the end putting flowers under the angel painting? Mabe Rachel ??

Make no mistake -- I like this show. I had written off network TV until Life, but there was something in last night's show I DEFINETLY DIDN'T LIKE AND STRONGLY OBJECT TO: Charlie strong-arming someone to get information. What if this person was innocent (like Charlie was of the murders) and HAD no information and no way of getting it? I hate it when I see TV shows doing this. It creates the idea that it's okay for the police to jerk people around in the minds of the public, and it leads to innocent people being assaulted by law enforcement. Shame on you, don't do this anymore.

Roman doesn't like anyone...

I think he has latched on to the idea that Charlie likes being a cop - and that despite his agenda, that he chose to come back to the department for reasons that aren't just confined to revenge. He started poisoning Charlie with the exchange at the elevator, and just kept on chipping away at Charlie with his phone call.

True, not true, whatever - he's not a helper, he's a hurter, and he can't be grateful to Charlie for getting to Julie enough that she's making a run for it, and making the feds aware of his latest misdeeds - concretely tying him to the gas scam, the dogs, everything (he wasn't granted immunity, he was just taken into Federal custody, and the feds might be putting more of a cramp on his style than previously).

Since Roman is connected to higher up agencies he can trade information he knows for other info. Thus giving him the leg up on the police.
Got_Fruit
I think this was the best episode yet. I loved when Charlie told Reese she was sounding like him and her "Take that back!", response. Too cute.
Also his way of comforting her after interrogating Roman and identifying with her wanting to shoot him. Those two have such great chemistry.
memrysaver
I agree that Roman is evil and is only feeding information to Charlie for his own benefit, whatever that might be. I think Roman's information is true, but he probably likes the idea that he is poisoning Charlie's feelings about the dept. I also believe that Charlie already is fully aware that the dept. is tainted and the source of his betrayal. That the info is true, doesn't make it less painful. Why would Roman lie, when the truth is just as destructive?

Of course Roman has his own agenda.
That pretty much goes without saying, really.

But the question is, at this point, what is that agenda?
We were given some back-story on Roman for a reason, I think.
And that bit about Roman being 'born in prison' and brutalized, may have been so that we would think that Roman feels sympathetic to Charlie having been brutalized in prison.

Very well thought out.
Either scenario will be interesting!
And yeah....to soon to know.

I agree.

Somehow I got the impression that Roman wants Charlie to trust what he says.
And what better way to establish that, than to give Charlie something that will lead him to the truth about who framed him?

Whether it is Stark or Reese, that Roman was referring to....it gives Charlie a huge clue that he didn't have before.
And Charlie can check out each scenario, and see where it leads.
Can't wait!

who was the woman that put the flowers under the angel painting ? Could she be Rachel?

I was wondering the same thing and she could be....thanks for reminding me of that; i knew there was a reason i needed to watch the end again...

She claimed she was 24 but she could really be 21. Same hair color I believe, and she looked young. Since Roman seemed to know so much about Crews and the murder, he probably would have known that Rachel had gotten away. He then could ensure she disappeared for the time being until she was ready or was talking again and got her to pass as a "Natasha". Roman HAS to be tied into another episode, he just knows too much about dark secrets of important characters.
TVVwatcher
Maybe the partner Roman referred to is Ted!

However, I think it's necessary to be very skeptical of anything Roman says. He is the harshest and cruelest character to appear so far in this series. He says and does things only for his own benefit--not Charlie's or anyone else's. I was surprised and disappointed that Charlie believed a word Roman said.
Darqueness
I have a feeling that Stark is the dirty one. The LA heist thing, the old gun and badge...the guy just doesn't feel right. Now Charlie using him to hunt down Cudahy(?), not very smart. Even if I'd trust that guy as far as I could throw him - I wouldn't have involved him in my mess...

And Roman...cool meanie! I really liked him. He was warm and cuddly...in a possessive, murdering, sociopathic kind of way. So, I guess the sixty-four dollar question is - why would Roman give free info to Charlie? I'm pretty sure we're going to see him again...
D.
LegZoff
This episode was okay, but again the mystery of the murder almost got buried under all the extraneous stuff regarding Roman and what was happening in Crews' life. The issue of who framed Crews is only mildly interesting to me as long as the actual crimes in each episode aren't given our full attention. I feel the show's producers don't really know what they want to do with this show. Is it a crime drama about two cops doing their jobs? Is it actually the story of a guy who got screwed and wants to know what happened to him? Is he supposed to have a relationship with his lawyer, who is married but obviously cares deeply for him? Is Crews funny? Clever? Profound? Or did his imprisonment just throw him for a loop? Will Reese ever smile? So far she is a one-dimensional character.

There is a lot to work with here, but the writers need to do more than just toss out juicy hints and hope all of us will stay interested long enough to make a season of it.

Best episode yet! I love this show best new show. I wish it was on at 9 instead of 10. Please don't cancel. This show keeps getting better and better.

Hey all. Where have I seen the actor that played Cudahy? He looks so familair but isn't listed on the credits on IMDB.

Don't know his name, sorry. I've seen him before though, in a scifi show that I used to watch.

I just hope that Cudahy doesn't sue Charlie for police brutality.
Lt. Davis would love that.
CinnamonGirl74
That's what I was thinking! That Cudahay could get the money he obviously wanted so badly by bringing charges against Charlie of police brutality! He even has a witness! That wasn't very smart of Crews, although I thought it also showed an interesting conflict that he was having with himself over why he couldn't seem to "forgive" Cudahay, thereby sticking to his Zen principles? I think it made him realize that, while reading and applying those principles towards his life while he was in prison may have actually helped to SAVE his life, they are harder to apply towards who he is and what he really wants now that he is out of prison. It's like he's starting to remember himself, again.
I have to say that I HATED, hated, hated the opening sequence of the show, with Connie all "I'm scared," and "Please hold me", towards Charlie. If NBC REALLY wants to reel in new viewers, they can't open with such a cheesey scene! I mean, it peaked my suspicions towards Connie trying to set Charlie up to get into trouble. She knew he's go after the guy! And, why didn't she report what happened to the police, regardless of whether or not Charlie came to her side? The whole thing didn't make sense!
The REST of the show, however, I really enjoyed! I LOVE the interactions and dialogue between Crews and Reese. They play off of each other perfectly. There were MANY lines from the show which just had me bust-out laughing...like when Charlie is telling one suspect, "You can't steal nothing because nothing doesn't exist," etc., etc....and he kept going on about "nothing" & "something" until I just started cracking up. I also loved the whole thing about the "prison angel" who made great carrot cake, and, of course, the infamous, "glue - it's what holds us together" lines. Very funny. The shows seem to keep getting funnier, which is great!
I also REALLY like the different songs which they have been featuring in each new show. I always look forward to the posts on this board telling us what songs and artists they were.
Finally, I think that Charlie went up to shake Roman's hand to show him that he was not intimidated by him. I also think that Roman has a bit of respect for Charlie for having survived prison time, and for probably being one of the only cops who had been able to get Roman "booked" for anything in many years. But, ultimately, Roman is too bad of a dude, I think, to be trying to "help" Charlie. He is using Charlie to take down guys who probably tried to take him - Roman - down - and I think Reese's Dad is going to be involved, somehow.
Let me finish by saying that I really do love this show and that I can't wait for tonight's new episode! I hope NBC starts doing a better job at promoting "Life"! They had William Baldwin, from "Life"'s ABC rival show, "Dirty, Sexy, Money," on Conan O'Brien, two nights ago! Conan is an NBC show! Why on earth did he have on a star promoting a rival network's show? It was bizarre. Meanwhile, no sight of interviews with Damian Lewis, Sarah, Alan...none. WTF gives? It makes things frustrating - wondering if I'm getting all into a show that NBC has already given up on. I sincerely hope that it hasn't!
