From SPOILERTV, a synopsis of the epi tonight.

A fertility doctor is murdered, and his body is staged to appear as if the crime was a political statement. Logan and Falacci follow clues that show the case has a more personal motive, and family of the victim may be involved.

Airs: 11th October 2007 USA at 10:00 p.m.

Let me just say this now - I pray this episode isn't corny! Watching the commercial I am a little afraid. I'll wait and see I guess and hope for the best, but if it is too much on the icky side then I don't know that I will be able to hang in there and watch the CI episodes with Noth and the new kid. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I really liked this one quite a bit. Considering it's well beyond my period of lucid thought I'm pillow bound. Some great lines by Logan, Ross and the new "kid". Totally disturbed by the eyebrows on the good doctor's son at the start of the show. Sometimes you just have to put down the tweezers and walk away from the mirror.

Ross: Detective, it's okay to have the thought, you don't have to say it.

Logan: I wanna take a shot at being the diplomat for once.

Falacci: Keys.
Logan: It's my turn to drive.
Falacci: Oh come on, Logan, I wanna get there!
I'm guessing Mikey drives too slowly for his new partner's taste.

Compliments of the USA network. The writer of "Seeds," Peter Blauner, has his thoughts up about the episode.

I liked this episode, but there were a few things that bugged me and, thus, prevented me from rating it as excellent.

Cons:1) The episode description listed the dead doctor as a "Fertility Doctor." An ob/gyn is not the same as a fertility doctor. A fertility specialist is typically a Reproductive Endocrinologist. RE's are ob/gyns, with an additional training in endocrinology and fertility. I hate to be nit-picky, but as someone who has been struggling with infertility for 6 years, I can tell you that accuracy about infertility is really important. I have yet to see an accurate portrayal of infertility and fertility clinics in the media. For accurate information on infertility, please visit the Resolve website www.resolve.org or The American Society of Reproductive Medicine www.asrm.org. 2) Along with that, L/F should not have been able to just go in and request donor sperm like they were ordering from McDonald's. Gaining donor sperm is a much more complex process than they showed. Sperm banks require significantly more information/documentation/etc before you can even look at possible donors. There would be need to be multiple invasive medical appointments, procedures, and tests before you would even be allowed in the door. 3) There should have not been so many red-headed children. Statiscally, it just doesn't happen. Red hair is a recessive trait. Thus both parents MUST have the gene to produce a ginger. This website explains it better than I can. http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/jun20...98918.Ge.r.html

Pros: 1) I love Falacci! She kicks butt. I love how ballsy and sassy she is. "Did he say I'm not a people person?" Does Wheeler really have to come back from the task force? Seriously! 2)I loved the aria. When I saw Tom at the post-funeral gathering at the widow's house, I thought something was up with him, but wasn't sure exactly what. I'm glad that in the end, the doctor had to at least try to save his kid's life to ensure that justice was done. Yes, bone marrow harvesting is painful, but you're a DOCTOR for God's sake. You took an oath to help people! That kid is your son!

Overall I give this episode a 8/10.

I rated this episode as 'good'. Probably because it annoys me to see Logan always starting out with new partner. Can't be helped but its still annoying.

I suppose the Falacci character is supposed to be bold and brassy. I guess that's a way of getting attention, but if she swings her hips any farther when she walks in front of the men, she's going to fall over.

I thought this was a very good episode. I liked M. O'Keeafe's performance as Dr. Eli Roush. He plays such a different character from the priests in Season 1.
Eric Bogosian was very good too. My mom made the comment that he has a strong presence. I liked J. Sheridan too, but Eric is different.
I liked Mike. He seemed amused about the new parter.

The Major Case-CI Forum has gotten an exclusive interview with Mr. Michael O'Keefe. Mr. O'Keefe, who was exceedingly generous with his time in granting this interview, speaks of his career as an actor, the time he has spent working with both Vincent D'Onofrio in the season one episode "The Faithful" as well as in "Seeds" with Chris Noth.

Please note that this exclusive interview is copyrighted, all rights reserved. Permission to reproduce all or any part of it in any format is expressly not granted.

Members, you do not need to join Major Case-CI to read and enjoy the interview.

Thanks also to those MC members who helped by submitting great questions.

Major Case-CI Assistant Moderator, Annabelle Leigh, was just a superwoman conducting the interview and transcribing Mr. O'Keefe's wonderful answers.

P.S. You can still see Michael O'Keefe guest-starring in the LOCI episode "Seeds" on USA network. Repeats have been scheduled for October 25th at 6 PM ET and 11 PM ET.

The interview is in two parts. Part one can be found at this link. Part two of the interview is here.

You can also learn more about Mr. O'Keefe, his career and plans by visiting his website.

Good episode! I have to admite that I like Falacci, but maybe she is a bit to much… It’s like we have more of Mike’s attitude now… And the way she attacked Rodgers was not nice at all… no no... but she is forgiven because I found the scene a little funny actually. I’ll have to wait to see more about her to have a better formed opinion.
I agree with Gorensgirl about the read head children. As the trait is a recessive one the father and the mother should have at least one of the alleles (and pass it to the kid) so the child is read head. The thing is that human traits are often the result of the action of several genes acting toghether so I can’t give the real proportion of read head children that a read head man and a woman with one of the alleles can have. And in ¨Seeds¨ is even more difficult to say something about this proportion because every kid comes from a different woman so it’s a bit more random.
All in all I liked the plot a lot !!!

Nothing like a genetics lesson in the morning!

You're correct, Samita, red hair color is an autosomal (non-sex linked) trait. There is mixed opinion among scientists as to whether or not it is simply a recessive trait or if it is actually codominant.

If recessive, people with red hair will only express the trait if they have received the recessive allele from both parents. A person with one allele for red hair and a second for any other color hair would express the other color. A black guinea pig crossed with a white guinea pig produces black offspring. This explains the low percentage of redheads in the population. Worldwide it's less than 1%. In Scotland, Ireland, Wales... it's closer to 8-10%.

If codominant, people with a single allele for red hair color would have a mixed expression of color in their hair. Strawberry blond, red highlighted brunettes, etc. The way a red flower and a white flower might produce pink offspring. But that's not supported by the statistics we see in the population worldwide.

Hair color, eye color and skin color are so closely related that red hair and green eyes with pale skin are often seen. These traits are closely spaced on the same chromosome. Autosomal linkage in its most basic expression.
