Reports say that a team of treasure hunters from the United States has recovered over 500 million U.S. dollars (£253m) worth of gold and silver coins off the coast of Cornwall, United Kingdom in what is being called the biggest treasure find ever, but the exact location of the treasure has not been named because of security and legal concerns. The operation is codenamed the Black Swan Project.

Odyssey Marine Exploration made the discovery and the treasure is believed to be from a 17th century shipwreck located some 40 miles off the Cornish coast. There have reportedly been hundreds of thousands of the silver coins and at least 200 gold coins found in the wreckage, some in "near mint condition." All the coins are being examined in the U.S. by experts.

I saw that on the news. They say its the biggest find to date. According to the company thats running the operation, they said you haven't anything yet. The world will take notice on what they bring up next.

i wonder how many different ways they have to split it...

that would make a great movie, kinda like Ransom, where everyone is trying to off the other person so they can keep it all for themselves ohmy.gif

Doesnt it make you wonder...how many 'treasures/riches" there are hidden in the world just waiting for someone to come along, pick it up and claim it as their own? Makes you wonder who actually stakes claim to it...I mean like not to say it doesnt belong to the people who found it, but I wonder where it came from? Who's was it? And I wonder with it being such a huge fortune...could anyone else stake claim to it.
I dont know about ya'll but I wanna go treasure hunting!
LittleNicky1
With some of the shipwrecks found today there are legalities involved where ownership is still in dispute.
I know that if the treasure is found in territorial waters, the governments involved usually claim ownership of it and will end up giving you a "finders fee" claiming the treasure is part of their historical culture. It gets even more grey when the treasure is found outside in international waters as the nations of registry may still have jurisdiction over that craft.

here's the background on the ship wink.gif

"In January, Odyssey won permission from the Spanish government to resume a suspended search for the wreck of the HMS Sussex, which was leading a British fleet into the Mediterranean Sea for a war against France in 1694 when it sank in a storm off Gibraltar.

Historians believe the 157-foot warship was carrying nine tons of gold coins to buy the loyalty of the Duke of Savoy, a potential ally in southeastern France. Odyssey believes those coins could also fetch more than $500 million."

When you attempt to hide the money from the feds, thats when you enter a world of hurt. Drug dealers don't have any trouble making money. The problem comes when they spend or attempt to invest the money. Property forfeiture laws were aimed at drug dealers, however, they are flexible enough to be used in numerous circumstances. The course of action would be to just say "Look what I found" then have the press take a million pictures.

I'm with you....why should it work? If the remote generates an IR signal then the cell phone will do absolutely no good. The cell phone will only relay an audio signal which will have a limited bandwith. Some high dollar cell phones may have a larger bandwith (usually the ones that are MP3 players as well). I believe that most of the remotes are an RF transmitter and again the the cell phone will not be able to relay that information because of the differences in the frequencies used. Just my opinion (and 25 years of electronics experience behind me).

It's nice to think that noone is above the law but unfortuniatly that's just not true...even with going to jail she has been above the law several times and her time in jail goes to show that she is still somewhat above the law. Noone I know would get as many chances to kill someone on the road as she had, to show up late or not at all as she had, and then to get days taken away from her already small jail sentence for good behavior before she even set's foot in jail shows that she is above the law. Any other civilian would have been sent to jail long before her and for long after her and they certainly would'nt get days off their sentence for showing up late to a madatory court sentence!

Sorry but Paris is not hot. She is a celebrity because of her parents. She represents "old money" in this country and people are interested in our form of "royalty". She is spoiled and deserves what she is about to get. In reality, she is getting off easy.
Lets get real about Paris Hilton....what can she do? She can't sing. She can't dance. She can't act. She can do a porn0 as good as the next girl and that pretty much sums it up.

THat little graphic was Paris saying "That's Hot." Her signature phrase, and about the only thing she knows how to say in answer to anything asked of her.

You're taking it all too seriously Nicky. She's just a celebrity in her own mind, who is already a joke, but, unfortunately for her, will become an even bigger one once she gets older. Her parents should be blamed for raising her the way they did, although, in all fairness, her sister Nicky is doing very well for herself. She has a successful clothing line. Yeah, she got her name in the door through the Hilton name, but it takes talent to continue one.

Paris, unfortunately, has no talents. No matter what though, even if she got off easy with her sentence, it will be **** for her. We can all rest assured she is paying much more dearly than we realize, considering her pampered life.

Another thing, she will probably be treated horribly in prison, because, unlike say Martha Stewart, Paris won't be able to humble herself and fit in. She'll go in with her nose in the air, which will make them hate her all the more.

I pity her...and I hope her parents realize the monster they created will have to pay for it.

No, I really don't take her seriously as a celebrity and she'll do just fine in jail. Probably hook up with some vicious bull dikes who will be paid off to watch over the princess.

I think this will be good for her, all her life she has gotten things handed to her, now she is REALLY living the "real life". This will give her time to reflect on her life a bit. Its not like there is going to be much more for her to do. She is only allowed out of her cell (from my understanding) one hour a day and only to exercise.

You know Ive just never found slinky, and scandalously skinny women attractive. All the clips of shows Ive seen her in had her size xtra zero falling off her NO a$$ self with her thong showing. And she whines....I shrill when I hear a grown woman whinning ....EEEEaaaaaaH!

She isn't Nicole Richy or Misha Barton... so I don't think she is TOO skinny, she is just naturally thin. But I also think that the curvy women like you listed are beautiful too smile.gif

Heck as long as a woman has femine features in her face and is confident, that's what makes a beautiful woman to me.

I agree. I think there is something about someone who is confident in themselves no matter what face or body they have.

There are some women I admire that while they aren't traditionally "beautiful", they are so strong, genuine and proud, to me, they are stunning (Oprah Winfrey, America Ferrera, Barbra Streisand).

I respect women who don't "try" so hard. To be liked, to be popular, to be funny. And it grates on my nerves when grown women giggle, you know, that little "tee hee" giggle? Give me a break, that isn't cute after the age of 10.

Yeah, so I have no idea where that came from! smile.gif

The thing is, Nicole Ritchie makes herself skinny, but Micha is naturally that way. My mom was the same way. Naturally skinny. In fact, in today's world people would have assumed she had anorexia, but she didn't, and she ate a lot, trying to gain weight. Even in HS in the 50's she was taking "gain weight bars" trying to gain weight. No matter, she stayed skinny til she hit 50, and now has a weight problem because she gained too much! But...anyway...

It really bugs me when anybody (women especially!) critisize other women for their looks and body size/shape and I really hope there are more differences between men and women than mere curves! If one knows how to work the body...any shape is sexy. wink.gif

On another note, skinny as she may be, Micha Barton is very curvy. Her shape is curvy. She has nice hips. Some may say she needs some meat on those bones, but she's got the curves naturally. Skinny? yes. Curvy? yes.
xmudx
Fair enough... Let me retract that then and say that Paris doesn't look like this as that was my point to begin with. I think we both agree that just because a woman is thin doesn't make her more or less attractive. But just like with extra weight, there is a line...

I certainly didnt mean that there are NO skinny women that are attractive to me...but for the most part Paris in general ( I dont believe ) carries herself very well. And I think Mischa is a very beautiful women. I dont think she's that skinny and I think that with Mischa, she doesnt carry around tea cup puppy dogs with furs and diamonds on their collar and mini skirts with fur and pink hair dyed dogs...I dont know the girl ( Paris ) just screams fake fake fake to me...she doesnt strive to be bright, infact she makes a living off of being the typical valley blonde girl and that's just sickening to me.
