Looks like Liv's hair is going to be a bit longer in this episode. Guess there was some experimenting before they settled on the short short hair.

I just wish they would have been able to keep consistant, it'll be so strange seeing Liv's hair short in Avatar, longer in Impulsive, and then short again the following week.

Cant wait to see this episode tonight i think its gonna be a good one...Livs hair is long again.. anyone know why???
ENO4EVER
Shows are sometimes aired out of order from when they were filmed. This one was probably filmed right after season 8 ended before she cut her hair shorter. I hope they back date it to be consistant, probably not.

I absolutely love all the L&O but especially SVU. I just wish that if they use a medication in the show.... they get it correct. I work in a pharmacy and am going to school to be a pharmacist, so maybe this irks just me. Like in tonights episode..... Benson and Stabler found some unmarked vials in the suspect/victims apartment. These were later found out to be Lupron...... It was then stated that Lupron was used for in-vitro fertilization.... That is not true... It is actually used as a birth control and causes birth defects.... It can also be used in other medical situation. I also did a google search to verify the medicinal usages.

There are some people that believe EVERYTHING they see on T.V. and might try to get this highly expensive medication through another source then a Dr.

I hope that if the writers of SVU or any other show for that matter reads this.... they will take it into consideration.

Hope everyone is having a great night and enjoying the show.

I know a hooker isnt the most reliable witness but still.... he was practicing for the act. Premeditated man.

funny thing is that in the last episode they actually comment on her haircut then BAM! its long again on the next.

~ Loved Liv's hair that length. I so wish they had kept it that long, it was adorable.

~ I noticed a blouse repeat for Olivia, the striped long sleeve with the black top over it is the same one she wore when she beat up the perp she was interrogating in Florida.

~ Loved when Elliott hit Earl to stop him.
Earl: Screw you.
Chester: Sorry you're not his type
Hilarious

This episode was a little all over the place with the two crimes, but I thought it was a great look at just how hopeless rehabilitation can be in some cases. The only way a boy like Shane would keep from ending up like Earl in 20 years would be if he seriously attempted to maintain control over himself and avoid temptation while making sure to devotedly take any medication prescribed to him to suppress his sexual urges. His "condition" clearly was something that can't be cured, it was a dysfunction that he will have the rest of his life.

I wasn't overly impressed by this episode, but it certainly was different than most of the other cases we usually see (I can't remember any other episodes where the minor was actually the one who raped the adult) as well as touching upon some interesting ideas concerning the conditions of places like jails and juvi detention centers; not to mention the slippery slope about the effectiveness and success of rehab for sex offenders.

it sure is! i hear what u are saying, there are somethings that i dont agree with on the show. especially working in mental health - i dont think the portrayls of some mental illness' are accurate. but hey its a show - for entertainment purposes

Last nights show did have a bit of a different twist...but I still enjoyed it. I did enjoy when ADA
Casey went off on the jailer employee--he SO deserved it! For covering up what he knew was
going on inside the jail to the kid inmates--noone deserves to be raped...moreless by those whom are suppose to be law enforcement of some kind--Yay Casey!! Not often do you see that tough side of her come out.
I geuss it goes to show we don't know all the mental health defects that Can be out there.
In reply to the med statements--maybe they delibertly mistate what they are for --for some purpose
we don't understand biggrin.gif

I loved Casey in this eppy! It just reinforces the fact that you dont want to get in her way when shes passionate about something. She'll rip your head off and throw it over her shoulder and think nothing about it.(hmmm...nice visual lol) I wish we could see this side of Casey a little more often.

Fell asleep at 9:45 last night (hanging my head in shame)...so I can't comment on the episode yet.

I did just want to say, to the posters that said Lupron is not used for IVF...yes, it is.
It is used to suppress women's own hormones, so the IVF cycle is completely controlled by the other drugs (that stimulate egg production). Nothing is left to 'chance.'

However, that is just ONE of the uses for Lupron. There are others.

OK so last week's episode had me a little annoyed. It moved a little too fast and felt a bit unbelievable. I don't mind the tech stuff with the virtual games at all, but it was a bit too much. I've been worried about SVU. Love the cast, the ensemble as a whole works great, but I hope they don't stray too much into fantasy. So whatever my fears were about the show last week it totally redeemed itself last night, because I thought that was a very good episode. There was nothing black and white or corny about it. It pretty much lived up to the whole onion metaphor, you know the more you peel it the more it stinks, well last nights story was just about as complex and as stinky as a peeling onion can get.

Good acting all around. No easy roles there. I am glad Melissa tried this role out, she did just great.

I guess they filmed this episode before Marishka cut her hair, and decided they would air in later, well not very smooth, but it's fine. I love Marishka in short hair though, just thought I would mention it.

BTW - Glad the captain didn't go anywhere. I got scared for a minute. He's too good in that part.

Last nights episode was very good...i liked it very much..

I enjoyed the episode last night. The ideas they used were very good and intersenting. Also, they were things they really hadn't covered before. Now, for the issues, because there are a few. A ) There was a little too much going on. First a she said, he said rape, then an abortion issue, then a trial, then another rape. That could have been two different episodes of crimes and investigations. B ) Every single character has become very aggressive lately. Elliot, it was coming, we all knew it. Olivia, understandable and believeable. But Casey too? That was reaching a little. C ) and a lot less important , but did Mariska get sick of her new hair style that fast. Last week it was super short and now she's growing it out again. I like it better long, but this is the fastest she has ever changed it. even though it had it's faults, I liked the episode and still am I and huge SVU fan and will never quit.

Does anybody else remember skipping stones as a kid? The idea is to see how many times the stone can skim the surface before it sinks. That seems to be the principle between the writing in this episode. They used bits of Head (teacher/student sex) with Doubt (he said/she) with a dash of Guilt (ADA blames herself for what happens to a teenage boy). But unlike those episodes they don't go below the surface to find out why things happened.
Specific things that need to be mentioned:
Shane's doctor has no problem reporting the rape to the police, but the nurse in Popular couldn't. Both minors had gonorrhea so the Health Department reporting should be the same.
This is the second episode in a row where a parent insists that someone be charged with the rape of their child. It's time for Cragen or Casey or the DA to set them straight. The police need time to investigate before charges are brought. It is not up to the parents to make that decision.
Why go search Sarah's apartment for proof that she had been treated for gonorrhea two months after the rape? Symptoms can appear as soon as two days or as long as three weeks after exposure. But for someone to still have unused antibiotics two months after exposure is unlikely. And Sarah's doctor can confirm that he prescribed the drugs they found if they were for a urinary tract infection, once Sarah waives privilege. And the drug Augmentin is not used to treat to gonorrhea, but is used to treat urinary tract infections. There is no reason for it to be on Warner's list of drugs to look for.
If Sarah was on Lupron at the time of the rape, she shouldn't have been able to get pregnant. If she started on the drug after the rape, the doctors would have run a pregnancy test because Lupron has been found to cause birth defects in the animal testing that was done on the drug. By the way Lupron is given via injection and the drug needs to be refrigerated.
Sarah's husbands belts Elliot pretty good. Why is there no bruise or mark on his face?
The validity of warrant for the aborted material is in question. Olivia stated under oath that she had personal knowledge Sarah was having an abortion. They did not know Sarah was having an abortion. All the nurse told them was that she was in surgery. They assumed it was an abortion. Warrants have been overturned for less. However the defense attorney was incorrect is asking for the warrant to be suppressed. He should have asked for the evidence obtained under the warrant to be suppressed
Sarah was placed under arrest for" trying to hide evidence". Olivia was not having a good day on that one. And "obstructing governmental administration"? There is such a statute in New York but it has no bearing in this instance. The judge was correct is dismissing it.
The judge was incorrect in telling the defense attorney that he couldn't pick a different theory if his first one was dismissed. It happens all the time, and the theories need not be consistent.
The First Amendment agreement is absurd. There is nothing is taking a body for testing that would prevent the burial afterwards. Instead of asking whether the detectives asked Sarah if she was planning on burying the remains, the question should have been whether Sarah asked the clinic staff to give her the remains for burial after the abortion. If she didn't, the free exercise issue is moot.
Judge Petrovsky screwed up when she allowed the defense as proposed by Sophie Devere. New York follows the ALI standard for insanity which includes covers the claims of "irresistible impulse". She should have required the defense to claim insanity instead allowing a defense of duress.
Where did Shane get all the money to hire all those hookers? And if Shane and/or his parents know about his condition, why wasn't he in treatment?
Who called Casey and why? The police should have been called and the crime reported to SVU immediately. Casey had no business investigating. As soon as she knew Shane was raped, she should have called the detectives.
Casey and Sophie couldn't make a deal about changing Shane's sentence without court approval.
When Sarah and her husband found out that Shane had accepted the million dollar offer, Casey should have mentioned that Sarah could sue Shane for damages. She didn't have to walk away with nothing.

The episode was so poorly written with minimal effort to produce characters that had any depth. There were so many chances to explore the issues raised that the writers just ignored. Had they stopped with Shane's trial and filled out the characters at that point, they could have produced a good episode. They are trying to put too much stuff into the episodes.

I enjoyed this episode. It was not mind blowing but it was good. my only 2 issues.

1. being a sex addict is not an excuse for rape. If he masterbates 5 or 6 times a day the minute she rejected him he could have gone to the bathroom and got the job done himself. I don't think he should have gotten a deal in the first place, let alone get probation after he was attacked.

2. Why was Casey so upset? I understand she felt bad and it ws a horrible thing that happened to him but it could have (and probably would have) happened in prison. Many people are attacked in prison, JD, "psych. hospitals" why was this one so personal?

Looking forward to Savant, looks good!

It was okay. Not my favorite though. I was not too fond of the guy getting off and I am not to sure I understood the entire situation with the place where he had to go for treatment. Were they going under investigation for the rape when SVU was taking things out of the location? I kinda wished they would have gone over it more. I also wasn't liking the fact that it was pretty much an all Casey episode. I mean I like her don't get me wrong. But isn't this a detective show? And why was Casey called before Olivia and Elliot? Shouldn't they have been first on the scene? This episode was way too confusing, bunched full of old SVU episodes and had way too much going on. I hope SVU gets it together. So far, this season has been really boring.

This episode was ok. It was nice to have an episode that was a case and just a case.

Totally agree with you. It sucks that he has a hormonal problem or whatever, but he new right from wrong. That actually upset me a little. I understand he's a kid and might have a future with the right medication or whatever, but lots of people have hormonal imbalances, recognize right from wrong, and choose to act 'right' rather than 'wrong'. Giving him a deal was lame.

Again I totally agree with you. And the unfortunate truth is that had he gone to prison, the same or worse almost certainly would have happened and she never would have heard about it. I think it's just easier to ignore that it happens if you don't hear about it. Maybe that's why she took it so personally. She never would've known it happened if he was in prison, but now she actually has to face that that kind of stuff does happen. I don't know.

ok. my favorite part in this episode was where fin and lake were chasing the guy down the street...guy turns the corner...then elliott beans him with a crate outta nowhere-that was funny-I laughed so hard I almost turned blue-then I rewound it so I could have a instant replay.
