I just want to let anyone looking for a alternate strenght training option that indoor rock climbing is a great workout and will get you sweating quick. I weigh just over 400 lbs. and tried it tonight for the first time and only did it for about a half an hour and am so sore. Every muscle in my body is screaming and I just did a little bouldering which you do not need ropes or a partner for. It was so much fun.

I really didn't want to work out this morning. It was the first time in a month that the alarm clock actually had to wake me up - every time before I've woken up at least five minutes before it's set for.
I was just so tired and bone weary and my shoulders ached and my legs ached and I really didn't want to work out. So I sat on the couch to eat my grapefruit and told myself I could give myself a break this once.
But I knew that if I did that, it would lead to more breaks. Which would lead to failure.
All my life I've been a failure.
Not this time.
I told myself to get off my ***, get dressed and just go - no more excuses.
So I did exactly that.
I did take it a bit easy just because I ached all over and I didn't want to cause myself injury, but the point is, I still went.
And I'm proud of myself.

Good for you! I start work at 7am so there's no way I could workout in the morning. I'd have to get up at like 4am and that is just not happening.

I know the feeling, I haven't been very motivated lately either...I've been super stressed at work, and I've just been soooo tired...but I've still been walking during every break I have and when I get home at night. Some days are just reeeeeeeeeeeeally hard!

Motivation is what you make it, and is up to you to keep it evolving as things start to get repetitve.
Let's just say that my 'motivation' has shifted at least 20 times since starting.

Way to go! You should be proud. It's tough to be your own trainer and to push yourself. I had the same issue last night. I exercise morning and evening as well and sometimes it's extremely difficult to go after a very long day. I'd rather sit and do nothing but that certainly wouldn't make me happier with my body or myself. Anyway, I did manage to go last night and I had to push myself through it all, but I felt great afterwards, still tired and sore, but great all the same!

I always feel great after exercise, but it feels so much better if I really had to make myself do it. More of a sense of accomplishment.

OK, is it just me or does anyone else get "goosebumps" and "teary eyed" when the theme song comes on? I just love this show and look forward to it each week. I don't answer the phone or the door and beware anyone who trys to talk to me unless it's on the commercials, LOL! It's my 1 1/2 hours to "revisit" my committments to a healthier lifestyle and get motivated for the rest of the week.
To make myself "feel proud" today I just waltzed past the Halloween candy that's already starting to infiltrate my office and told myself that it has no control over me! It's a decision I will face day by day till next month and every day I can pass it up is another day closer to my goals.
I just love that song! Have a great week, everyone!

I mentioned this two years ago when I first joined this site about the theme song. I often listened to it on my computer before leaving work and sprinting -- yes, sprinting -- about a mile to the gym because it inspired me.
I now take it a bit further. In addition to my regular workouts, when the BL comes on, I spend at least 30 minutes using the elliptical machine in my bedroom. Last night, I had a great workout and felt totally refreshed.
But that was yesterday's "proud" moment. Today... I will have two proud moments. 1) I stopped by the bookstore to read Jillian's new book, Making the Cut. I also picked up a good workout tip. Tonight, it's another 30-45 minutes on the elliptical while watching the CSI.
"....what have you done today to make you feel proud?!"

I'm glad you brought up the office candy!! We have this woman that keeps an overflowing bowl of godiva chocolates. The BIG ones. I've been wanting to take a pic of it b/c its so unbelievable.
How about this, we post a paper on the back of the office door, on our desk, etc and everytime we stand up to move through the office the last thing we just read was: "What have you done today to make you feel proud".
...I can use all the help I can get!

I listened to that song while standing in line at TBL casting calls. Actually the whole cd.
Today I finished a project that has been waiting for two years. that made me proud. Oh yea and I was offered a job out of the blue today, something I love and I am so taking it!

Not today, but on Monday I broke 9 M meters lifetime on my rower, of which over 2.25 M were rowed just since February. I'm hoping to break 10 M by the end of the year, but it will be close, even if I don't get sick or injure myself.

I've done two things to make me feel proud today.
1. I made myself a doctors appointment for tomorrow morning to get help to quit smoking for GOOD this time!
2. I did the complete strength training circuit at the YMCA...including my most hated part...45 sit ups

OK, Day 2! Because I am feeling so inspired and good about myself I have the inner strength not to let the "Office Bully" intimidate me while the Big Boss is away. This person is negative, jealous and "micro-manages" and this week I am just not letting her get to me. I am controlling my emotions and not letting my emotions control me, it feels VERY GOOD indeed!
And it's Day 2 of NO Halloween candy. Good luck everyone, let's make ourselves PROUD for another day, Cheers!

I went to the gym at lunch and did 30 minutes on the exercise bike and spent 10 minutes doing ab exercises. But to get the "what have you done today" inspiration I'm hoping to workout on the elliptical tonight for 45 minutes while watching Survivor and CSI.

Woo-hoo! You go!!
OK - I'm proud today because I jogged during my treadmill cardio (only three minutes, but I felt like a marathon runner) annnnnnnd.... for my biggie....
I finally confronted the person who started some malicious gossip about me last year. It wasn't the showdown I had envisioned a thousand times, but I calmly said what I needed to say and it was closure. (And I'm not in jail.)
IT FELT GREAT.
I think am starting to be the person (on the inside and outside) that I always wanted to be!!!!

Got everything yesterday!
OMIGOSH, the cookbook is fab! The calorie counting guide is fab!
In the book re: diet plan, I'm stumped on the cals..?
They say to take your current weight X 7 and you get your # of cals for the day in order to start weight loss..??? {that's 7 cals per pound}
Am I understanding this correct?
I'm 175.3 lbs.
I will starve to death with only 1,227 cals!

I would guess that's only if you don't do a lot of exercising and want to lose the weight kind of fast. I couldn't do it like that either, not to mention, as you lose weight you reduce that even more. So, if you're 150lbs you can only have 1050 cals a day! I have a job where I'm on my feet 7 or more hours a day, plus I've been exercising. I think my body would really starve on that many calories.

I have talked to one personal trainer and a few other people that really know their stuff..
They said I should start with 1500 Cals and go from there.. Play around a bit to see which spot starts the weighloss..
That's what I'm gonna do!
With that low of cals the book suggests, my body could store fat bc I'd be hungry all the dern time!
That's the only thing so far I've come across that's strange/doesn't make sense in the book.
I'm lovin' everything else! I really dig their version of the food pyramid!

LOL..
I decided I didn't need that bc since I have the book, it goes over all the circuit training exercises.
I also do a lot of walkin', do winsor pilates, cardio dance-mix with Denise Austin dvd, cardio routine w/3 lb. weights, etc...lol

I have both of the DVDs and really like them. I don't know if I could just use a book, I think I need the person there to tell me to keep going. lol I also have two of Jillian's DVDs but I haven't really used those, mostly because I don't have enough space where I exercise to have a chair around. I'd have to keep moving things around and that would be anoying.
Other DVDs I like are the Kathy Smith Lift Weights to lose Weight (1 & 2) and Kickboxing ones, Winsor pilates ball workout(I lol everytime she says "I love a little piece of ball"), Crunch Fat burning Pilates, and a few Pilates for Dummies ones. One of those Kathy Smith DVDs has a really tough ball workout. I got carpet burn on my elbows trying to do it.

I just wanted to add to this because the song really inspires me - I have it downloaded on to MP3 player and when I am walking on the treadmill - I picture the contestants fighting through things they didn't think they could do and it gives me the strength to keep going. My motto is if they can do it so can I.
Have a great day!!
