Please, as a courtesy to all of the posters on this forum do not post spoiler information in the General Discussion section of this forum. It is a common courtesy that should be observed by all. I have see several instances already tonight.

I never post spoilers, but can you tell me why anyone that does not want to be spoiled cannot wait a few hours and stay off the boards?
ZNakamura
Oct 22 2007, 09:01 PM
Why should I stay off the boards and not participate in the discussion like everyone else has all day when people could just follow the rules? Just because I live on the west coast means I have to sit and wait when people on the east coast can sit on the boards all day up till the minute the show starts?

ZNakamura is right. There are at least three other timezones in the US alone (Mountain, Pacific, Hawaii) that have not yet seen tonight's EP. This board is designed so that those choosing to avoid Spoilers can simply avoid the Spoiler sub-forum (and Current Episode Discussion on new EP nights) while still being able to participate in General Discussion topics.

Well on these boards, life is fair. Read two posts up and I am being backed up by a mod so don't argue about it because resistance is futile.

I'm just being realistic. Some new people get all excited and make mistakes. Is it wrong? Yes. But if it will ruin your life if you accidentally see a spoiler it is wise to do something else for 3 more hours, after all you waited a week.

True, but I'm just saying that I deserve the right to surf this board up until air time the same as the people on the east coast did - spoiler free. Not trying to start anything, just trying to inform. I actually am appreciating our banter because it is keeping this thread near the top where people will see it.

Because I can. Because I enjoy discussing Heroes with people who enjoy discussing the same thing. Because I am talking in a section that isn't supposed to have spoilers. Because I have been on here all day am I'm enjoying it. I can go all night.

ZNakamura is right. I live on the east coast but I don't even get on the boards once the show starts until the next day. Yeah, you 'can' do it (spoil it in general discussion before they get to see it) but it's tacky. It's not that hard to be considerate. Let the others enjoy the show and keep your discussion in the live chat. That's why the mods created that thread.

Season 3 storyline- In order to save the world, the Heroes will have to get people to start thinking about others for a change.
"That is the problem with the world in general, people don't think about others. How hard can it be to simply not ruin a tv show for others just because you want to brag about getting part of a theory right or talk about an interesting twist. No one is even saying you can't do that, there is a current episode board after all. Everyone has a right to be here, even those who haven't yet seen the show because of where they live. keeping spoilers off the general disdussion board seems like an easy thing to do."

I pretty much just avoid the boards on mondays since I'm the last to see Heroes. (I like to be surprised)Well, I come on after I watch it which is like 3 to 4 hours after the west coast has seen it.

Nice catch Synch! I had intended on pinning and unpinning it on new episode Monday's in order keep the number of long-term pinned topics down (since there are quite a few) but I got distracted and forgot... I'll just leave it pinned. At least until the new episodes run out.

Thank god a Forum has these kind of caring people. Since I live in the UK, I don't get to see Heroes for like 2 months after the USA has seen it. I'm currently on Season (or Volume) 2 Episode 2. Whereas the rest of England watches Heroes - The Hard Part tonight.

From San Francisco - there are other threads to discuss the plot /show.
A few others have a simple rule about no spoilers. Maybe some folks think breaking a rule makes them a "rebel". It takes more than that.

Yes. Once it's aired those are no longer spoilers. (Best rule of thumb is to wait until Tuesday morning before posting anything like that.)

Because of my work schedule I frequently have to watch the episodes on the website the next day. That doesn't mean I don't want to be in General Discussion. With forums for current episodes and spoilers, there's really no reason to post spoilers here. Or, at the very least *mark* the spoilers as such and leave some space so that people can skip them. It is netiquette 101, something that is rarely practiced due to some weird form of entitlement people have these days.
The Fuselage site for LOST has a 3-day moratorium on spoilers (except in specific forums) and is strictly moderated. It was decided that 3 days was a fair amount of time for anyone to get a chance to watch online if they missed the airing, and a specific time on the 3rd day is established. With specific rules and consistent enforcement, the overall site is a very pleasant environment. Any spoiler posts are removed entirely, and multiple offenses result in banning.
There is no reason for people to not be considerate of people who can't see the new episode right away. Telling people they should stay away from the boards just so some people can break the rules and post spoilers is just plain unreasonable.
I have just seen two threads right at the top, both of which have spoilers, and I am NOT happy, because not only have I not seen it, but the video link isn't working properly, so I CAN'T see it yet. I came into the forum to see whether anyone else was having this problem and promptly had two things spoiled. That is not cool.
My 25 cents and then some.
Cheers!
Em
