I have had many discussions elswhere on this topic and while there is no apparent plans or information leading me to believe that an ER episode is going to be filmed in Croatia ..I would like to see it happen.

The character of Luka seems to have one tiny missing fragment for me and I think that whilst we have been told bits and pieces about his family and homeland..I would like to see it.

I think that an episode centalizing on Luka and Abby in Croatia ..would be great.
Luka left family and friends behind and his character doesn't seem to have been back since...I think that something should come up that warrants his character going there...it would definately let the writers show a different perspective of Luka and maybe even Abby if she goes with him....
What do you think?????
Kacey09
Hey

i think it would be a great episode, but i dont think Abby would wont to go with him. Because in the earlier seasons, Luka almost died while in Croatia with Carter.

Luka and Carter were never in Croatia; they were in Africa (the Congo).

I've read somewhere (don't ask me where) that there aren't going to be anymore "out-of-country" episodes, and that it's all going to be at County General now, so don't expect a Croatia episode anytime soon.
jesshal
I didn't like the Africa episodes, but think that Croatia would be interesting as it has to do with the character of Luka. We know he still talks about his father, so they could go see him. I think that would be great. Africa seemed more like a political statement to me than a character development. I think it would be good for Luka to go back with Abby, and it would be good for Abby to see where Luka is from.

I wouldn't count on that either.......I believe that we will definitely see some more of other countries this season. As for the Croatia episodes....I had read that as well last spring, and thought there could be some kernal of truth to it when Goran appeared on a segment of "Where in the World is Matt Lauer" on the TODAY show....from Croatia.
hal_the_tool
I like to see them go to Memphis. There's just as many bullets flying there as in the Congo episodes. And they have good barbeque too.
nina_habek
I really don't think that this will happen. I am from Croatia, and belive me, if this would be true, we wolud know about it years ago and we would have something to celebrate....
Izzy1216
That would be cool, Im kinda tired of the BORING ER! lol

What do you think????

Personally, I don't think he was the only one at fault, from what I seen on the episode the nurse should have done a lot more.
Kymra
I think he'll be found guilty, unfortunately.
nadis
Well, I really don't think he was the only one to blame. There are many nurses who could've helped the guy before he got the stroke. I mean, the ER is always short in staff, and Luka was one of the few doctors. Hopefully the jury will see that what the state should do is give County several more doctors to make the work place a safer place for their patients.
aquariaqueen
He'll be found guilty, but that's why the hospital and he have insurance.

Now, if he's found guilty, he can go after the hospital as well, although that does kind of put your job at risk.

Any private owned hospital in the area would pick up his contract!

People who work at county, tax supported hospitals do it for two major reasons; they're dedicated to helping the less fortunate, or they can't get/keep jobs in better paying institutions, due to inexperience, poor employment skills or work ethics.
tonya_407
That jury room scene had me laughing when I watched it!! I work in a law firm in chicago and we handle medical malpractice cases. I hve never seen the jury here in chicago deliberating past 5pm!!! The way it was filmed made it seem like it LATE in the EVENING!!
charlie623
I am not sure how they are going to find Luka guilty or not.
But the guy just wants money.
He refused the treatment that they recomended.
If I remeber right the guy did not even have insurance or a job.
That should tell them right there that he was doing it for the money not cause he was wronged.
nadis
I know that Luka will be found innocent! I watched some behind the scenes of "Hearth of the Matter," and the guy said something about Luka going back to his normal life, and celebrating. so I take it he's found innocent.
sweetness_nancy
Not guility I HOPE
Luna8
He isn't guilty. Remember when the jury said they reached a verdict and the judge said the jury ruled in favor of the defendant? That's Luka. wink.gif

It was very cute and Goran seemed to be going out of his way to gross her out with the umbilical cords and maggoty arms...lol

I am more than upset after reading an article on celebritiesuite101. I was looking for any upcoming movies Goran might be in and I came across the topic of Goran Visnjic to finish up this season on ER. I still watch the show every Thursday and I watch the older episodes on TNT. I just can't believe it. I love Luca and Abby as a couple. I know they have to add new cast members, but I thought Abby and Luca would be on the show until they decided to end it all together. Has anyone else read anything on this topic? ER is my show. Really the only show I watch. I work third shift at a hospital and will stay up until the two episodes on TNT are over. I'm sooo addicted. This news SUCKS ~Pamela
The
I hope it is just a rumor. I don't want to see Abby and Luca come to an end! It was hard enough after Carter left.

This may be the reason that the writers have this ongoing Ames stalking storyline,it makes a lot of sense now.
AzizalSaqr
There is an interview circulating in which Goran talks about being ready to move on, his contract expires this season. He hints that he would be open for episodes next season but he is anxious to return home to Croatia to go back to the theatre and he would like to explore film projects not open to him with the linited 2 1/2 month vacation window ER leaves open for him. If you click into the link for Bleu Profond 2 in my signature we have the interview posted on the message board.

Goran has previously stated that he appreciates what ER has done for his career and the money it has provided him, and I think if a contract were negotiated that allowed him to do both the film or theatre work he is looking at and return for the final year of ER he would. Time will tell, all we can do is keep our eyes open and watch for more details.
nadis
Oh My God!!!! I so thought he was going to be in ER for sure until next year... This is a shock for me. It's true that it's nice to move on, but why if it's still a great show?? Cannot believe this!! It's like finding out your boyfriend's cheating on you... I'm shocked!
AzizalSaqr
There is still plenty of time for Goran to negotiate with tptb for a contract renewal for season 14. Goran is in a very strong bargaining position right now, he is the lead male actor on the series, number one in the credits and a key draw for the series. He's not stupid, he'll weigh his options and do what he feels is best for his career now and in the future. At this point even if it were only for half the season I would take that over no appearance at all.

I just cant see Dr Kovac being killed by Ames. I do see Ames being killed by Kovac, or who knows maybe Abby takes the gun and blasts him?!
luzenza
that or he harms Ames, something goes wrong with his citizenship, and gets deported, OR he and Abby make a mutual decision to raise joe in Croatia. That, or throwing the Maury Povich twist, he turns out not to be Joe's father.....but then that would really suck. All we can do is hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.
AzizalSaqr
With all of Joe's health issues they would have done blood work and paternity would be assured by this point. I've been spoiled and think I know the outcome so am not saying what I feel will happen with Ames, however, I like the idea of Luka taking Abby and Joe home to meet his tata.
AzizalSaqr
I'd love to know why they allowed the error in Luka's wife's name to slide by uncorrected. In the spoilers they had misprinted it with Jasna, his daughter's name and we all assumed it'd be corrected before filming, when the scene aired tonight, Luka said "When Jasna and my children died." instead of Danijela which is what it should have been....makes you wonder why no one caught it, or if it was deliberately left in and if that's the case, why?
Kymra
Hmmmm..... good question. that is a pretty big error.
Trifioso
I am so glad you wrote that! I noticed the error too, and wondered why GORAN said it. Would he remember his supposed wife's name? I did love that scene though....I have been thinking about Luka and Abby a lot lately, and wondering why it is that they are basically using them as no more than bookends, while they try to push the new characters on us. Goran and Maura have really proved themselves to be excellent actors, and I have the feeling if they continue to be so dreadfully underutilized, they may be moving on....

This cap for me was the highlight of the scene...in this moment we saw all of Luka's pain at his families loss revealed, and then it was gone.

and then the start of the thank you...

longtime fan
Did anybody out there catch the mistake in Luka's story? He tells Abby that "When Yasna and the kids died..." In past episodes, Luka refers to his wife as Daniella and the kids as Yasna and Marko. They have done this before when he tells Weaver that his wife and kids were taken from him and then later tells Carol and then Bishop Stewart that his wife and kids died when he went out for supplies. Where are the folks that catch consistency errors? I LOVE e.r. and will continue to watch but things like this drive me as crazy as watching someone entubate with his right hand---it isn't done!
mkc217
good catch...i knew it sounded off, but couldn't put my finger on why.
AzizalSaqr
I think in the early episode they weren't sure that Luka was going to be a full-time character thus they had not entirely developed his history and used the "taken and killed" for an early comment he made to Weaver. When it was clear that Goran and the character of Luka were well received and more extensive development began then they fleshed out his going to the market and Danijela, Jasna, and Marko dying as the result of the bombing.

In this recent episode, no one is quite sure why the name slip of referring to Danijela as Jasna got past the continuity people and in fact Goran himself, speculation is running rampant all over the place, and unless someone comes out and speaks publically on it we'll never know.

The point is, mistakes happen, Luka's story has been being told for 8 years, if they've only made 2 mistakes in all that time then they've done pretty good with it.

From USA Weekend Magazine.com

Handsome Goran Visnjic, 34, has played Dr. Luka Kovac on NBC's "ER" for eight seasons, but the Croatian actor still sees himself as the new guy. "I was the first to come after George [Clooney] left, and it kind of stuck with me," he tells us. "Eight years ago, my English was quite bad. Now, I can chat [easily] with you, except for my accent." As for medical procedures, "I might have better knowledge than an average person, but it's not usable in any practical way."

Sex god in white coat
Ex-Para command Goran Visnjic says goodbye to ER.

Most sexy tv-doctor, the description says. GV - doctor Kovac in the series "ER" - is almost becoming shy. Almost, because you need more to blow away the Croatian ex-Para command. "Tennis players, those are the real heroes."
From our reporter Tom de Leur in London

About the title of most sexy doctor in a hospital show there is of course discussion. George Clooney was the undefeated number one, but he has said goodbye to ER a long time ago. The series 'Grey's Anatomy' of course has Patrick Dempsey, but he's still a newbie. So for now the title is still in the hands of GV, who will leave ER this year. After eight seasons.

The 34-year old Visnjic presents himself as an impressive boy - 1m93 - in jeans and blue shirt. He looks modest, a bit shy even. The man is pure-bred Croat, but after all those years he doesn't have a problem with the medical jargon of the show. "As long as I know what to imagine with all those words. With the word 'chair' anyone can immediately imagine a chair, but with the word 'pericardium syntheses board' it's a little different. What was that again, I usually think then."

GV is an immigrant with a story. He was barely 19 when he fought with the Joegoslavian army against Slovenia. When he had finished his service, he volunteered with the new Croation army to fight against the Serbs. The actor drags this past along in the show, because his character lost his wife and kids in the war.

Visnjic himself doesn't like to be reminded of his past as a Para command. "I just try to be a good ambassador to my country. When Americans ask me something about Croatia, I'll say that it's a beautiful holiday destination. Those civil wars were so long ago en were so complicated that every explanation would lead to misunderstandings."

Acting in a hospital drama doesn't incite to living a healthier life. GV is the living proof: He points his index finger to the package of cigarettes in his chest pocket. "I smoke less since I live in the US, because there are a lot of places where you can't smoke. I would like to quiet, but I'm not smart enough in that matter."

According to American magazine 'People' Visnjic is one of the most beautiful people in the world. The actor gets a little uncomfortable at it. "This was five or six years ago. I rather have a good review in a newspaper. I realise that such a title comes with the job, but it's a bit fake. I can't take merit for my looks myself, you'll have to thank my parents."

GV is popular in his home country Croatia. Just as popular as that other Goran, the ex-tennis player Ivanisevic? "Croatians are proud people. When one in five million of it's inhabitants wins Wimbledon after a third finale, then everybody goes crazy. I'm not somebody of that calibre. You can only cheer once every two hundred years for people like Ivanisevic."

In the meanwhile, it's the actors last season on ER. "The show keeps surprising you. When doctor Kovac was in Africa, they got a call in the hospital in the US: Kovac is dead. A week later I was alive again. But after this season I really quit the show. Eight years of playing doctor is more than enough."

(A little extra that was only in the newspaper, not the online version)

All swords are welcome
?? GV has named his own character on ER. Doctor Luka Kovac thanks his first name to a nephew and his last name to his best friend.
?? Visnjic played next to Nicole Kidman twice: in the witch film 'Practical Magic' and in the nuclear action movie 'The peacemaker'. He made his debut in the US in the drama 'Welcome to Sarajevo'.
?? He is not a bad fencer. He collects swords and sables.
?? In 2002, the actor won a trial against a Croatian tabloid. In an article with the title 'The secret of the 1.5 million dollar villa' there was being claimed that Visnjic and his wife lived in a house in LA without paying rent. The article also said that the actor got his part on ER because he has ties with Branko Lustig, the Croatian producer of movies like 'The Peacemaker' and 'Schindler's list'.

Okay, I think this was posted a while ago, but it's true and offical- Goran Visnjic is leaving ER. A recent article in TV Week Australia posted that Goran said: 'I am leaving ER, it's time to move on" after playing Dr Kovac for many years. The article also stated: "Looks like the daddy of all hospital (refering to Luka, I suspose since the entire article was about him) might be headed to the morgue" isn't a morgue something to do with dead bodies found? If Luka leaves the ER, what'll happen to Abby? I haven't heard anything of her leaving, so I am guessing Luka would be killed off, I think he said he would be leaving in season 14, I think. We just ended season 12, so don't really lash out at me for not knowing what's up with season 13, because I don't know. If we got through Anthony Edwards and Noah Wyle leaving, this shouldn't be too hard, well, I never been a big fan of Luka anyway, but I will still tune in the show, I love it too much to quit.
AzizalSaqr
Without seeing the article scan I would hesitate to comment on specific, things taken out of context could mean anything. The most recent article I saw was just this week and was British, it was speaking only of rumors and his talking of wanting to go back to the theatre again in Croatia. I think we could get some hints when Goran makes the run of talk shows on the 31st and 1st, but the last real tidbits we got were that he was leaning to an exit similar to Noah's which could mean a 4 or 5 episode extension even if he didn't renew for the entire season. At this point it's all speculation.
