Zachary Levi stars as computer geek-turned government agent Chuck Bartowski in the new NBC series “Chuck.”

Levi's youthful exuberance and charm are quickly making him a favorite first pick for Hollywood.

In addition to “Chuck,” Levi has been cast as the lead in the independent film “Shades of Ray” about the struggle of a Pakistani man and his upcoming wedding. He also wrapped production on the upcoming comedy “Weiners,” also starring Keenan Thompson (both projects are set for release this year). On the big screen, Levi was recently seen starring opposite Martin Lawrence in the hit comedy "Big Momma's House 2." Levi portrayed a comically awkward FBI agent who learns the ropes as Lawrence's partner -- and made some moves of his own with the ladies.

Audiences have enjoyed Levi in four seasons of the comedy series "Less Than Perfect,” as the quick-witted, scheming Kip Steadman. Levi starred alongside Sara Rue, Andy Dick and Eric Roberts.

Also on the small screen, Levi portrayed a potential boyfriend of Charisma Carpenter's character Jane in the television movie "See Jane Date.” He also earned great reviews for his guest appearances on the hit shows, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “The Division,” and for his supporting role in the television movie “Big Shot: Confessions of a Campus Bookie.”

Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Levi eventually made his home in Ventura County, California. He began acting in theater at the early age of six, performing lead roles in regional productions such as “Grease,” “The Outsiders,” “Oliver,” “Godspell,” “The Wizard of Oz” and “Big River,” but it was his portrayal of Hank in a production of “Marvin’s Room” that brought him to the attention of Hollywood.

A devoted philanthropist, Levi is committed to serving his community through organizations which improve the human circumstance.

Levi currently resides in Los Angeles.

Zachary Levi is an awesome guy. I really like the fact that he's so cool off-set aswell, he has been his funny self throughout all the interviews that i have seen him in and he really cares for his fans, all of the candid pictures that i have seen of him, he has had a big smile and a wave to the camera. He seems like a down to earth person smile.gif

Howdy Zachary Levi fans!

I am soon following in you steps I like Mr Levi ( in a man/friend kinda way) and I wasn’t aware he was born in Lake Charles? Heck that’s only a stones throw from where I‘m located ( but I won’t tell anyone Mr. Levi I promise). One thing about me, I like to pride myself on detail. This means noticing actors that have had bit parts on other shows and movies. I tell my wife about actors I recognize from others shows all the time and she hates me for it. Well she really doesn’t hate me, she just throws a sock at me.

Anyway, as I’ve said I pride myself on details (though a can be wrong) seems I’ve seen Mr. Levi in a bit part on “Band of Brothers”, am I right? He plays a supply commander as commander Winters is taking his rag tag soldiers to Bastion (is that how it’s spelled?) . Anyway, this partners him up with Dale Dye again (who seems to be everywhere, a good thing) along with Damian Lewis who’s got the lead role in “Life”. A show I’m getting into also (I love Christina Hendricks).

Lastly looks like I’ll be getting entertained by Zach, hope he doesn’t mind being called that, in the tv series CHUCK. It’s great so far and the supporting casts are a lot of fun. Well written also. Good luck with CHUCK.

Agreed. Very cute. I wonder how old he really is?

This guy is the total deal. He's great looking and completely funny. This is my first introduction to him, and I'm thoroughly enjoying watching him do what he does. He's surely destined for great things and success. He's like part John Ritter, Seinfeld, and something puts me in mind of Peter Sellers...

The you tube vid of he and a few of the guys from "Heroes" is a lot of fun to watch.

I am officially in lurve with Zachary Levi, and also Chuck Bartowski lolz... can I just say yum??

Have you guys seen Chuck with short hair? He looks soooo different, but you'd recognize his adorable eyes in an instant.

Does anyone watch Smallville? Chuck reminds me sooo much of Tom Welling. I don't know if it's just me.

I'm not sure if you read these. I know you're crazy busy, but I just wanted to tell you how proud I am of you. The show's excellent. I still don't have cable in the new house. Lame, I know. But Danny and I rented the pilot epi and loved it. Amanda came down from ohio for my wedding in sept and we got to remembering all the good times in cali. She was my maid of honor. Thanks again for "introducing" us. She's the best friend ever! We both miss talking to you. Hope all is well with you personally. Don't burn yourself out, my friend. I hope your website's back up and running soon. If you ever have time in your fancy pants hollywood life, check out our wedding pics. It's sendtoprint.net and the ID is dannyandmegan07 with no spaces. Hopefully I'll talk to you soon. Praying for you.

'Chuck' star Zachary Levi relishes nerd role but hopes for more heroics

BURBANK, Calif. - Zachary Levi is embracing his inner nerd.

"I'm more Chuck than I'm not Chuck," says Levi on the set of NBC newcomer "Chuck," in which he plays a computer geek-turned-clueless secret agent. "Pretty much my whole life, actually, I've felt like a nerd. Growing up I was always the best friend to the girls, never the boyfriend."

The tall, dark-haired actor admits to a fondness for Chuck's geek-chic couture - cheap pants and shirt, complete with a pocket protector that he wears for his day job as a "Nerd Herd" technician in a Buy More Electronics store.

"I love the wardrobe," Levi says. "The show is about the underdog, about the unwitting, reluctant hero. It's a Clark Kent-Superman kind of thing."

But Chuck never acquires the physical powers of a superhero on the new, hour-long, action-comedy series, airing 8 p.m. EDT Mondays. Instead, his brain has become a priceless file of secret intelligence data since he opened an e-mail that imprinted his mind.

Besides, Chuck is a klutz at spycraft. His government watchers - humourless Maj. John Casey of the National Security Agency (Adam Baldwin) and sexy CIA agent Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) - tell Chuck to wait in the car when assassins are afoot.

"Chuck's just so innocent," Strahovski says on a recent production day on the Warner Bros. lot. "Not only does Sarah have to protect the government secrets in Chuck's head, but she also has to protect that innocence."

In between martial arts moves, Sarah does develop a thing for Chuck as she plays out her cover story of being his girlfriend.

"Sarah has been trained not to trust anyone," Strahovski says. "But Chuck and Sarah do bond because they go through so many near-death experiences."

And Chuck's pocket-protector look? Well, Sarah "finds it adorable," Strahovski says.

On the "Chuck" set, the 27-year-old Levi seems the polar opposite of geeky. Clutching a large coffee, he's Mr. Take Charge, shepherding visitors through a faux courtyard, arranging seating and asking, "Is everybody good?"

"I was a busboy, I worked at Blockbuster, I worked at a car wash - which was character-building," Levi says. "So I can relate to the customer-service thing. Doing your best with a smile. That's what Chuck stands for."

Before "Chuck," Levi played snobby Kipp Steadman on the sitcom "Less Than Perfect" and did supporting turns in "See Jane Date," "Big Momma's House 2," and other movies. He recently produced and starred in the indie film "Spiral."

"I went from everyday scraping-it-out to Chuck on a show called 'Chuck,' " Levi says. "Getting this show was like Chuck getting government secrets implanted in his brain. You just kind of fear it and embrace it."

Created by executive producer Josh Schwartz ("Gossip Girl," "The O.C.") and co-executive producer Chris Fedak, "Chuck" is rooted in 20-something angst.

Expelled from Stanford for murky reasons, Chuck is having what Schwartz, Fedak and executive producer McG call a "quarterlife crisis."

"From the get-go, Josh and I talked about a mash-up of ideas, a fusion of a character-based comedy and hard-core action," says Fedak, an action-movie maven who was Schwartz's film school buddy at the University of Southern California.

Indeed, on "Chuck," the scheming workers of big-box Buy More seem as menacing as the secret-agent types.

"The notion was, what if Sydney Bristow on 'Alias' or Jack Bauer on '24' wandered into 'The Office'?" Fedak says. "How terrifying that would be, because Sydney's friends and family all usually got killed. And Jack Bauer usually wants to torture somebody."

Casting Levi in the split-personality series was a no-brainer, Fedak says. "At his first audition, Zach sat there for a second and then he went, 'OK, don't screw this up,' and he went into his audition. That 'don't screw this up' was pure Chuck."

In every episode, Levi plays out the moments when Chuck's mind is hijacked by a stream of visually swirling, secretly encoded cyberdata.

"We call those moments his 'Chuck flashes,' " Levi says. "When he goes into computer mode, my head goes blank and I kind of go catatonic for a minute."

But what Levi really wants for Chuck is a bigger piece of the physical action.

"I do as much of the action as they'll let me do on the show, running around and falling and taking pratfalls and bumping into walls and getting hit," Levi says. "As a little boy all I did was play war with my buddies and throw dirt clods around as hand grenades.

"I'm dying for them to put a gun in my hands. Maybe in season seven I can shoot a gun. You just can't go from computer nerd to highly trained assassin overnight."

Zachary shows an impressive depth with this character- he is sweet and still shell-shocked from the loss of his Stanford dreams.... But he refuses to give in to the bitterness. Wonderfully well-acted.

I very much doubt that most people see him as a big star. But his potential is certainly there for anyone to see.

Surprised to see him on the People list, but hey, whatever works...
