Chayne,
Hey there. You know, it's interesting that you mention Stewart Copeland. I remember loving his work on a TV show called the 'Equalizer'. I was just starting with synthesizers back then. Jan Hammer, 'Miami Vice' also made a big impression. These were the guys that had all the expensive toys a teenager couldn't afford (ie Fairlight Series III, Moogs, Junos, Prophets etc...) I would try and emulate them on my Casio CZ1000 (not that expensive... ;-)
I would consider both of those guys influences. Those early musical experiences tend to seep in and affect your music in a deep way. I'm also a big 'Vangelis' , 'ELO' (Xanadu Soundtrack) fan for some of the same great synth sounds and production values. I'm a sucker for great sounding analog synths. The Vangelis score to 'Blade Runner' is one of my high water marks. I would also be remiss if I didn't mention Peter Gabriel for the profound impact his music (scores) and song writing have had on me. Many, many more influences to mention at a later date, but you nailed me on the Copeland thing ;-) I've always loved his percussive, energetic scores.
Cheers. Go Cardinals
Tim
You talk about liking synthesizers. My favorite band (Split Enz and anything by The Finn Brothers) had an amazing keyboard player named Eddie Rayner. I would bet that you have heard of him but just in case you have not you should really check him out. He has been playing with the Finn Brothers for several decades now and Eddie still plays with Neil in the studio and sometimes on tour with Crowded House. One of Neils albums to check out would be "Try Whistling This". I think Neil even lives in L.A. just in case you ever get to hook up with him and play some tunes together. Maybe you could get him on the show and the two of you could do a cameo. Yes I am a dreamer, but what is life without dreams right?

It was the work on Equalizer that I was thinking off, the use of synths, I was never a fan of the show, but the theme always stuck in my head.
The Vangelis score from Blade Runner is a great one too, and who doesn't like a little bit of ELO?
Are you familiar with Murray Gold's work on Doctor Who?

Can someone please tell me what is the name of the song that they played in Chuck Versus The Third Dimension, which is in the following scenes:
- where Chuck runs out of the hotel room up to the roof followed by the two girls
- where Chuck and the musician attack the other guy in the dressing room
- Chuck and the musician go stage diving
I looked all over the internet, but no one seems to know it.... I really love this song/theme. I'm sure it must be out there somewhere.
Appreciate your helps, thx

Had a thought....
I think that an excellent song to be used in a future episode would be “Running up that Hill” by Placebo. Go listen to it if you get a chance. It is very dark and chilling and would go well with any scene where maybe Chuck is going to be forced to kill someone to save someone he loves. The lyrics would work well also. They could definitely go slow-mo or something with him like running with a gun trying to get there in time or something like that to make it more dramatic.

Deetown has just released
"Let's Get It Crackin' " by The DeeTown All Stars which was used in Chuck Versus The Imported Hard Salami (when Chuck & Lou enter the club & run into Stavros). It's available at
CdBaby and iTunes on an album called "DeeTown Presents: Music from Chicks Shows (Vol. 2)".

The best songs I've heard on Chuck are "New Town," by Datarock, which was in the episode Chuck versus the Sensei, when Casey was chasing his mentor. It went "FBI. CIA. EMI. TDK. It's the n-n-n-n-new song." and "Keep Yourself Warm," by Frightened Rabbit in the dramatic ending of Chuck versus the Fat Lady. It goes "No you don't know who's in your bed. Can you see in the dark, can you see the look on your face, the falshing white lights been turned off, you don't know whooo's in your bed."

I love Data Rock, I hope they can put "Fa-Fa-Fa" on their somewhere. I loved the use of the National and Frightened Rabbits. Looking forward to more, along with more possible David Bowie, Hives. Oh, Interpol has great songs, or Cold War Kids... Vampire Weekend... I could go on and on

Pretty sure that it is original score composed by Tim Jones. It is a very moving piece. Tim comes by here and answers our original score related questions on a regular basis. If you read back about four pages he mentions that the score may be available to purchase in the future. Hope this helps.

What was the name of the song where Chuck is getting brainwashed by the suburb folks towards the end of the episode? I'm guessing it's the original score, but is there a specific name to it?
Thanks.

Except that its already associated too closely with the other show.
Besides, using a song only because it takes the show place in California is pretty weak.
