This was touched upon briefly in the viewing party discussion. What did everyone see in the vault aside from the virus of course? I caught a gold key which it looked like Adam was reaching for when Hiro entered. Also there was a brain, hand of cards, and a curved dagger whcih looked a lot like the one on the cover of the 9th wonder comic book. Anyone see anything else or have any ideas as to the importance(if any) of these items?

There was a deck of cards.
And this concerns me a little because it reminded me of that miniseries the Lost Room with the objects and the occupant and what not. Why the h*ll was there a deck of cards? How could there be an explanation for that that was anything but lame....unless the cards belong to Gambit.

not a deck, a fanned out hand of like 4 or 5 cards. If these things are just all historical collectibles then maybe its Jesse James dead mans hand. Although i is also possible it was even cards. Sure looked like it tho as the camera went by.

Yeah, that's what I meant...a hand of cards...sorry.
But why would they be keeping collectibles in the same vault as deadly viruses? Don't you think they'd have one for collectibles and one for biohazards?

I'll have to watch that scene again but I cannot remember any additional items besides the ones you mentioned. What I'm hoping for though is that those items play some part in the next volume. Maybe they are there for just historical stuff but wouldn't it be interesting if they were clues to some sort of mystery the company is hiding or something along those lines?

Being a poker player, I know that the dead man's hand is a pair of Aces and a pair of eights. Was that how the cards were arranged?

Maybe they thought of it as some sort of a time capsule? To preserv what was important to humanity ... in case of a disaster, so that they'd have things stocked up. And virus could've had some very literal warnings about the contents. Or maybe it was things that were especially valuable, that they wanted kept, no matter what.

Looks to me like the left window contains the stand where the virus was stored. I have no idea what the pyramid looking thing in the right window is.

The gold key that Adam was reaching for when Hiro walked in.

A human brain, appears to have 8037 or B037 labeled above it.

3 Queens.

Curved knife. I agree with other posts saying this looks like the knife St. Joan is wielding on the cover of 9th Wonders Issue #10

A replica trojan horse?

Wide image shot with a lot of windows. Top right window appears empty. Gold Key is immediately left of it.

Maybe 9th wonder was inspired by a real person? And that dagger was used by that hero ... On that topic, did anyone else notice that the 9th wonder #10 issue has the Helix symbol on it? The upper left corner.

Maybe they belonged to Linderman? He was the casino guy.

I saw:
- cards (three queens, missing: clubs) in glass
- brains in jar with fluid
- stand (probably for the virus)
- black (mini) piramid
- big golden key
- empty compartment next to big golden key (maybe signifant)
- (mini) trojan horse
- kriss (thunderbolt shaped) dagger

theres a black pyramid in Dahshur and this is a quote from a site
"Surprisingly, though, there were four other burials inside the Black Pyramid and archaeologists speculate that two of these might have been pharoah Amenemhat IV and his queen, Sobekneferu.
You can't approach the Black Pyramid because it's still in a restricted military zone, so this photo was taken with a long lens from the Bent Pyramid, described later." and the Golden Key can be linked to a story of Buratino which is a story about a puppet with a long nose created by a man enprisoned by this evil bloke and the alive puppet goes in search for this golden ket which unlocks a trap door which would release the puppet maker who had told his puppet stories of freedom, however only good people can use this key.
Does anyone think these bits of info have anything to do with any of these artefacts
ALSO apparently some Kriss (Also known as Keris) daggers hold the pressence of good luck, whilst others bad...

short answer: no
good post, good research and nice theory but its all a little too in depth. i doubt the writers wanted us to take away all that from a key and a model pyramid.

Since one vault looked empty and opened while another appeared to contain an empty stand (possibly once holding the virus), does anyone else think that Adam could have stolen at least one other object before trying to get the key?

Yes, every one noticed that.
Did you notice that the helix symbol forms from the ashes in Peter's hand when he destroys the virus?

It's reaching, but Shakespeare has a poem about three queens:
QUOTE
Dirge of the Three Queens
URNS and odours bring away!
Vapours, sighs, darken the day!
Our dole more deadly looks than dying;
Balms and gums and heavy cheers,
Sacred vials fill'd with tears,
And clamours through the wild air flying!
Come, all sad and solemn shows,
That are quick-eyed Pleasure's foes!
We convent naught else but woes.

I was thinking about the significance of each item and I was wondering what you guys think is the most important or powerful item. I was thinking the key. What could a golden key possibly open. Also Adam was going for that item next (whether it was because it was closest to vial or not IDK) after the vial so he of course had to understand its significance. What do you guys think.

I really think the most significant item in the volt is probably something Adam stole that we haven't even seen yet.

So what your saying is that either the brain is sentient and will reach out to people or something along those lines or its preserved and the person who it belongs to is somehow being kept alive or his power allows him to live through other things without the brain maybe?

Yeah, the whole vault had a very "Lost Room" feel to me as well. I don't really think that we can speculate on the nature of the items in the room, but clearly they are important and probably dangerous in some way if they had to be locked up.
