That's wonderful news for those who can't get the USA network. I know of a friend whose cable subscription does not extend to where she can get the USA network.

I would guess that the listing is showing that the program is not a first run episode because all of the current season's episodes of Criminal Intent have already played on USA Network. It won't be a rerun for viewers who could only view the show on NBC, but it won't be a first run show either.

My name is Kay, and I agree with you and watching CI on USA when I had cable and I watched everynight on Sundays when I had cable, but now I dont so I just catch the CI on abc at 11:05 every weeknight, so I get enough of my CI every week.

Sure, NOW, NBC wants LOCI back! Because of the writers' strike. Well, I'm glad for the fans that don't have cable, but I am no fan of NBC!
orkhid22
well i'm new to the message board, and just decided to add my two cents!

first nbc cancels l&o:ci without any notice, it gets picked up by USA, and the ratings go through the roof. now the writers are on strike, nbc needs their ratings back.. so l&o:ci is back on nbc. at the end of the day, its a great win for l&o:ci b/c it is my favorite show on tv and i will watch it on any and every channel and anytime that it comes on. although i dont care for NBC i do love three of their shows: law and order the orginal, CI, and HEORES! now if only they can move those shows all to USA or another network i wouldn't have to tune in to nbc at all smile.gif
peachybc
Hi Orkhid22 and welcome to the board,

NBC didn't cancel CI. The deal in May of last year was set up to save CI, which resulted in the show going to NBC owned USA network. The original deal NBC made always included NBC showing CI on their schedule as well as CI airing on the USA network.

Now fans of the show, who don't get the USA network, have the opportunity to watch CI season seven --Wednesday nights at 9:00 p.m. smile.gif

If you have any questions about how our board works, don't hesitate to send me a PM (private message). I will be happy to help you.

Peachy I was wondering if you can explain why nbc is airing the season seven episodes out of order. They have self made on for this coming wednesday instead of smile, also on the cri. intent board the list put out by nbc has senseless on before untethered and no mention of depths. The schedule looks quite mixed up,can you find out what is happening please and let us know what is going on?Thankyou.

Hi catlady,

I'm afraid I don't know why NBC is airing epis out of sequence.

Sorry.

PeachyBC

Edit: There may be a reason here after all. Member StefanL reminded me: "that this past week’s mothership was an episode dealing with poisoned Chinese made toothpaste and mouthwash. The CI episode "Smile" was about the same thing and, even though it aired first back in October, they might not have wanted to have a similar themed story so soon after last week’s show..."

Thanks StefanL!

The episodes of CI that are playing at 9 pm on Wednesday nights are new to NBC. They have already played on USA back in October and November. They are technically reruns but if you don't subscribe to a cable or satellite company that has USA network in its lineup, they would be new episodes for you.

well i had to do the same with "the moment of truth" show but what i did was i thought about it and said to myself which have i watched the most and it can to me i have been watching law&order criminal intent for almost a one year and a half, for me it's impossible to switch to a new show on the same time law&order is on. So my question is which of those two favorite shows have you watch the most and get so excited when it's called out?

Hi,
New to this message board.. LOVE Law and Order: CI -- Bobby is AWESOME!! I've been missing this show.. and did a google to find out info. on when we will see some new episodes of my fav. detective.. And found you all here! smile.gif

I haven't seen an answer to this question and this seemed a good place to ask.. I saw they had switched back to NBC -- but they were all repeats to me; b/c i watched them all new when they started up this year on USA back in the fall.. Here's my questions, hope someone can help me out; i'm going thru CI withdrawls! lol

1. Are they going to show new episodes on USA or NBC this year since the writer's strike is over? Or are we stuck waiting until next year for new epi's -- i sure hope not they only showed like 6 epi's or some such small amount. sad.gif

2. Is CI switching back to NBC permanently or are they only going to show the epi after USA does the previous week?

Thanks i am SO confused; but been waiting expectantly for new epi's to tape on my tivo... biggrin.gif

Hi Mel,
Welcome to the board!

We've had ten new episodes that have shown on the USA Network since the show returned in October. USA Network has stated that it will continue production of the current season and air them through the summer months. Whether or not it will keep it's current space, Thursday at 10 pm is unknown, since "Burn Notice" held that spot, and earned wonderful ratings there, last summer. "Burn Notice" is also scheduled to return this summer. There is already at least one episode that is completed, finished during the strike, but it's doubtful that it will be aired by its lonesome self until a couple other epis are done to keep it company. Read this article our mod PeachyBC posted last week. It says they can be ready to shoot in six weeks and have new epis done in twelve.

Will the show return to NBC? No reason to, NBC sold it to USA, one of its sister networks in the NBC-Universal family and its ratings there have been quite good. USA Network president Bonnie Hammer has treated the program well, has given it the advertising it hasn't seen at NBC since the second season at least, and would be foolish to send it packing. NBC's original plan was to show the epis on Saturday nights at 10 a week or so after their cable premiere on USA. That never happened. Whether or not they decide to actually follow through with that plan when the new episodes are ready for the air is anyone's guess. That will depend on what their schedule looks like and how they program the rest of their week. Also will the network complete the current season of the rest of their programs? If they're scrambling to get something, anything on the air, CI may return, the same way it did this January, to fill a hole in their programming.

Again, welcome to the board.

Thank you Stefanl!!!!! wub.gif You are a wealth of information, and with GREAT news! OOh i can't wait; just wish we didn't have to wait sooooo long.. lol

I thought that NBC was to have shown a new episode last night (02/27/2008). Instead, a rerun that was previously shown on USA was aired on NBC last night.

What happened? unsure.gif

Hi William,

NBC is showing the episodes that originally aired on USA per the initial agreement in May of 2007 between the two networks.

The episodes are "new" to NBC, since they are being shown on NBC for the first time, but they are not new episodes.

They could have fooled all of us, especially if we have the USA Network. I sympathize for those who do not.

So additional Season 7 Episodes that were not previously aired on USA in 2007 will not be coming to our tv screens til the summer?

Bummer.

I can't expect it to be that far ahead, but you never know unless you check TV Guide online. Maybe more into latter part of March, or maybe as early April is when the really new eps would start showing.

As I don't follow the other series outside of the L&O domain, there is a difference between the running of series in this era compared to almost 40 years ago, like Hawaii 5-0 and Mission: Impossible.

But one person suggested that maybe the writer's strike had a lot to do with "delaying" the showing of new episodes. Strikes don't help.

And I should think of switching to a DVR as the VCR's are about to become dinosaurs. mellow.gif

Hi,

CI season seven will continue and new epis will air on USA network starting in June. USA has CI scheduled to return June 8, airing Sundays at 9 p.m.

I posted the USA press release, which can be found here:

This is the first time that I have used this site so please forgive me if i am doing anything wrong. I just want to know when NBC will be airing new episodes of L&O:CI. I have my DVR set to record any new episodes and I haven't had any to record yet. L&O:SVU just came back on a few weeks ago which I am thrilled about but I am getting frusterated about not being able to see CI. I used to watch it on USA so I believe I have seen all the episodes that were shown on that network. If someone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. And, again, I am sorry if I am doing this wrong. it may take me awhile to get the hang of this.

Hi Jess,
You're fine with what you've written and where you've written it. Many people are wondering the same thing as you are.

Right now, NBC has released no news concerning if or when they plan to show what is left of the season 7 episodes of CI. If your cable provider has USA in its line up, you'll be able to watch the rest of season 7 on Sunday nights at 9 pm beginning June 8th. No news yet from USA about whether or not CI will be renewed for a season eight.

NBC released its upfronts last month with their programming schedule for the next twelve months. CI was not to be found anywhere on that schedule. It's entirely possible that NBC plans to plug it in to a day and time when one of their new series tanks, or when they run out of new episodes the way they did this last January when CI returned with first-run (for NBC) episodes. That "minor" detail isn't something that NBC bothered to let the fanbase of CI know.

Welcome to the Criminal Intent board by the way!
Linda

Futon Critic is reporting that NBC

"...Scheduling updates released this evening indicate repeats of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" will assume the show's Wednesday, 8:00/7:00c slot effective immediately..."

The current NBC schedule shows CI listed April 1 - April 22nd (these will supposedly be reruns), but as of now no epi titles are listed. Nothing is listed yet for April 29th.
