Regardless of the year make and model of KITT past or present, did anyone working on this movie even watch any episodes of the original series? Overall, it was a pretty sloppy attempt with a lot of inconsistencies.

However, if they do make this into a season or two it may get better. The two big things that I saw were:

1. The original KITT was turbine powered and could utilize almost any fuel.
2. The formula for the original car's armor was shared by 4 people so that no 1 person could duplicate it.

I'm a big fan of the old show and of GM/Pontiac. I have many Pontiac in my life. I think the Firebird/Trans Am was always better looking then the Mustang and was more powerful. We all have to give it up to Ford for first making a Mustang before the Firebird (we may not have gotten the Firebird if not for the 'Stang) They stated the Pony car and kept it going after Chevy, Pontiac, Dodge, and so on gave up on that class of car. Kitt can survive anything right?, just like the Mustang has. As long as they use a Ford, GM or Chrysler RWD two door with alot of power, who cares. No Car company is going to help pay for a show with a used car in it. It has to be a new car. I love the show and it was free, in return I had to see alot of Ford. If a if a Tampon Company paid for a show with a bad ass car that talks and I got to see it for free, who cares. I can just fast forward though the commericials. Please NBC make this a weekly show. This is the first time in a lot time I even watched NBC. If they would have used a new Camaro you would said that not kitt, that Bumblebee. lol

I just saw the show on the net. I am glad that they posted it for those that missed it on Sunday night. I really liked the show, and really hope that the powers that be sign it on to be a series. And hopefully we'll see KITT do more stunts than driving through the desert. Just wanted to give my thumbs up for the show.

So, I was trying to come up with a cover for the DVD I made of the movie. Since there was not much to go on, I had to use my imagination. I didn't have the Newer Font, so I decided to include a little of the older font with the newer car.

I started off with one picture, but the cover maker was not playing nice with it, so I had to crop it to the final cover. But I think it looks kinda neat! Simple, but descriptive! Here is the original, followed by the final image. I know the images are kinda crude, but I had to work with what I had available to me.

And the final product:

But TiVo cannot edit out commercials in recording.... Then we would have only had a 55 minute movie....

I would just like to say that the new Knight Rider rocks!! I have been a long time fan of both Mustangs and Knight Rider. The old Trans Am was great in its time, but it would not be very believable now. The technology that is KITT needs to be installed in a car of the future, not the past. I can't wait for the series to begin. There are only 2 shows I can stand to watch on tv anymore, it would be nice if there were 3. My only complaint about the movie is that with all the Mustang commercials using the characters from the movie, I could never tell where to stop fast forwarding my DVR. Don't worry Ford, if this show continues, it is only a matter of time before everybody wants a new mustang. How about buying up the commercial time and making the show commercial free!

I love how many of the fans of the older Knight Rider are bashing the fact that they used a different car for this movie. Hello...it's a remake! Remakes usually mean different. Different car, different guy, different stories, but same concept. Yes it had a lot of Ford commericals. It was their way of ADVERTISING the movie and the car. I'm sure any of the other car makers would of done the same if one of their cars were used. I also loved that some of them had KITT and Mike Tracer in them because they tied into the movie and weren't the same old boring car ads.

I was a fan of the original Knight Rider because of David Hasselhoff. I had been a fan of his from his days on The Young & The Restless. I wanted to see him and what else he could do other than daytime drama. I then became a fan of the car and series. Yes the car was hot but it didn't matter to me what kind of car it was. I watched it because it was a good show and he was in it.

I am watching this movie because I'm a huge fan of Justin Bruening and loved watching him on All My Children. I had no idea that the car that was being used was a Mustang, which I have also been in love with since I was little. I've always been and always will be a Stang Girl. The fact that they used a Mustang made me love this movie even more than if it would of been any other kind of car just because I think Stangs are hot. I wish all the best for Justin and NBC and hope they do make this into a series because I will get to watch Justin riding around in a hot ride that I love on a weekly basis.

I don't care if the car should or shouldn't do certain things because it's a Stang instead of a TA. I don't care if they don't tie in the old series info with the movie or the series if made. I thought the movie was a great movie...and guess what? My kids watched it right along side me and loved it too. They have watched older shows and movies that I've loved and have watched over and over again from my childhood and sometimes they like them and sometimes they don't. Just as I don't always like the same shows and movies as them. Just like their kids will probably not like all the shows and movies of now. I'm just glad that there could possibly be another show on tv that we can watch together as a family instead of everyone going to different rooms to do their own thing or not spend time together at all.

If you don't like the fact they used the 'wrong' car and its not what you thought it would be, that's fine but don't keep bashing it and spoiling it for the ones of us that do like it and want it to become a series. We can't all like the same shows and movies or the entertainment world would be very very boring.

NBC, I want the new Knight Rider picked up as a series and I hope you keep Justin Bruening as Mike Tracer because he's awesome!! If not Good Luck to Justin in anything you do in the future, I will be watching!

the thing that gets me is this... wasn't the old KITT bulletproof because of some kind of chemical or molecular bonding? Maybe that was Team Knight Rider, I don't know, but either way, if it was chemical or molecular bonding the car would have been bulletproof even without the computer being on. Either it was a flub on the writers' part or I'm totally mistaken and should hang up my geek hat.

On another matter, does anyone know if this is going to be a series or just a made for TV movie?

you're absolutely right, stoop!
the original KITT had a "molecular bonded shell", which was invented by the late wilton knight and was resistant to most known weapons beyond heavy artillery.
my other critique was that the new KITT had seat belts...the original KITT didn't have seat belts.
michael knight was protected by the "Passive Laser Restraint", which was basically invisible seat belts.
from the fan's point of view, they took a technological step backwards by ignoring these two important features of the original KITT.
i'm guessing ford or the powers that be decided that new KITT had to have seat belts.

last but not least, why val kilmer?
he wasn't bad but he wasn't william daniels (voice of original KITT)...
i know that will arnett was supposed to be the voice of new KITT but he had to drop out cuz GM forced him to quit (arnett has done commercials for GM)...
anyway, why not get daniels back to do the voice?!
if the show gets picked up as a regular series (which i hope), then they NEED to get daniels back!
kilmer's a movie star...i doubt he'd want to be stuck doing TV anyway!

also, they gotta make the hoff a regular in some way...or at least give him a recurring role.
the hoff IS knight rider!!!
we also need more backstory as to where michael knight has been for the last 20 years!
when did they shut down knight industries?
what happened to KITT's red concept trans am car from the tv movie, Knight Rider 2000???
(i'm guessing the producers wanted to forget it...hehe)
where's bonnie (patricia mcpherson) and april (rebecca holden)?
better yet, bring them back for an appearance or something!
come on, nbc...don't leave us hanging!

oh...and to answer your second question, this was just a pilot...if it gets enuff ratings AND positive fan reaction, then they'll turn it into a series.

imdb.com still has a listing for a possible big screen movie in 2010 but no details yet...:-\

I fully agree with you bro...you said everything that I thought of when i saw the movie.

I think that NBC was not trying to resurrect a old classic but recreate it in there own vision. And also to show of a new ford car.

And yep, they should have started off the new series..(if there will be a new one), from Knight Rider 2000 Movie, that would have made sense and be col with that Awesome Car...I missed Black but Red also works too. But what can we do?...oh well

To all the ones that are downing the new KITT a couple of words for y'all get over it and move on with the times I have been a long time fan of the Kight Rider series since I was a kid and I love the new KITT the trns-am was dead now for 20 plus years and it was time ro refresh and come up with a new way to make KITT something more of a power house and aplling to kids tha are now going to watch kight rider and to give the kids of today like I was back in the day when KITT was a Trans-Am kids of today that will be watching Kight Rider will have a new hero to look up to and when they are all grown then they would want to get a mustang and make there own KITT so I say this to all the ones that say that the new KITT is a fake grow up it is time to move with the times and accept that the KITT is a much better and faster car then the one in the 80's if Hass. gives his approval then so do I and it's abilty to change colors is another feture that makes this new KITT awsomeso I finsh with this I am still a loyal fan of the Kight Rider series and I can't wait for the new season of Kight Rider to start I have and will always be a loyal Kight Rider fan when I saw that they were going with mustang I was like this going to be something to watch so I give my approval and say stick with the new KITT.

im with you. please nbc follow with a new series. the haters are homosexuals(not that theres anything wrong with that).reality sucks. this is quality tv. im not even a big ford fan but kitt is freakin sweet. get mr. feeny (william daniels) to do the voice again, let the hoff be a regular guest and shave off some commercial time and ill be able to be 6 years old again for an hour every week.im begging you nbc i need this! my youth is slipping away.i wonder if ki3t can turbo boost jump...i bet if there is going to be a series there will be a lot of changes and fine tuning to the car. remember the original kitt went through lots of updates and remods after being disolved in acid and beat to death by the jug. i loved the convertible top remod when i was a kid. and i thought it was funny how kitt got ptss after the acid incident. ah...good times.even if they dont use any of my suggestions though ill still watch it religiously.c'mon rally people!

I wasn't being exact or scientific at all, but it seemed like that if you were to eliminate the commercials AND the annoying on screen promos; that's what you would have been left with.....

I can't comment on commercials, because I saw a version with them cut out. One thing I can say is that I've been a diehard Knight Rider fan from being 11 years old back when the show first aired here in the Uk in 1983.

From the pilot, I was a hooked kid with no hope of getting a Trans Am my side the pond - and yet, I DID get one, scanner and all when I grew up. Being a girl to boot, well, it wasn't easy.

When I heard NBC had turned KITT into a Mustang and the voice wasn't going to be Will Daniels I was apalled. On top of that, the guy they had got sounded all-too like KARR...I so told myself I wasn't going to watch.

BUT!!! Watch I did, and I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the script needed work - for instance a better plot would have been nice. BUT I LOVE Val Kilmer as the new voice, and *gasp* I actually like the Mustang.

We have to get past what we had as kids and give this a chance. I think it could be great with the right production crew and writers and I REALLY hope it goes to series. I'd defintely be buying the DVDs and merchandise just because I think the car is so damn cool!!

Same here, i loved the original and even have my KITT replica (With working Scanner) proudly in my front room, i like the new version a lot!

The Mustang is my all time fave car so to use for me personally was awesome, I thought Kilmer did OK but again like most people would love Bill Daniels back, I thought a lot of the show was well thought out if perhaps not fantastically written.

I loved the bit in the plane at the end and although I think they could have worked more of the original music into the them, the whole thing was great and made me feel like a kid again!

My 4 year old loved it too so please NBC, pick it up for a full series (and ship it on over to the UK as well!!)

Also, the series needs a voiceover at the beginning " Mike Tracer, son of Micheal Knight etc etc"

Finally, Respect to the Hoff! Leg-end!

I was a HUGE fan of the original show and when I heard about this pilot I just had to see it. For the past few weeks I’ve been like a kid waiting for Christmas to arrive. Watching the previews on the internet were great… seeing the car for the first time… brilliant! Absolutely loved it… Couldn’t wait to see the actual show. But as I live in the UK we probably won’t see the pilot for quite sometime.

Luckily I’m married to an American lass – which does have its advantages – her parents recorded the show, sent it over, and I was able to watch it tonight (commercial free!).

Obviously reading these comments it was clear that it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea – but you’re not going to please everyone all of the time. For me though I really enjoyed it. It was good quality entertainment which has the makings of becoming a good television series. But hey that’s just my opinion.

I just know that it put a smile on my face, kept me quiet for a couple of hours (which my wife loved!) whilst I watched something evolve from my childhood into something for the new generation…

… A lone crusader in a dangerous world? Well the way it finished it certainly has the potential to be. I’m just looking forward to seeing more of it.

Ahhh so it was different and acceptable when GM was Craming the new Camero down our throats and what not in 200 2001 ect? lol and I beg to differ The mustang would have been able to keep up and beat the Trans am and Firebird in the 80's now the 86-87 Mustang no they tried to make that into more of a Family Car than the sports car.

The Camaro has only been in the Transformers movie, and is not available to the public yet. Now, of course it will be a different story when it is finally released. My point is that I will always think of KITT as he was (I have always liked how the T/A looked compared to the Mustang in the 80's). In my original post, I stated that the new car did look good. They just need to make it more futuristic looking inside ,do away with the double scanner, make his voice modulator red only and add turbo boost.

Not as good as the original but it'll do i hope it will be made into a series but i highly doubt it. anyways i found this on the net anyone else seen this it's supposedly a concept car for this show we just watched not sure what kind it is i'm guessing an all new TransAm... :

There’s a poster for a Knight Rider 2008 movie circulating around the net, supposedly from Weinstein Bros. The return of K.I.T.T. looks to be amazing , but who’s going to play the part of Michael Knight? David Hasselhoff isn’t quite looking like he did back in the 80’s. Maybe a few trips to the gym and some botox might do the job. Oh, and they’ll also need to update his Casio Comlink Wristwatch!

If you look carefully in the movie that is a FWD car hehe. Unacceptable. The Banshee is way to long and just a one piece fiberglass mold sat on a Grand Prix chassis. That movie was probably the death of it. Who wants Berretta cop cars with stupid sirens either hehe.

I haven't seen it yet, but as a long-time KR fan (right from the beginning of the original series) I think the Mustang is a HUGE improvement. And those whining about Bill Daniels, wise up this is a NEW series, if they just redid the original there'd be no point. Besides, who's to say that they can't bring him back now because they want a NEW voice! Fair enough, and from what I've heard Val has done a sterling job and I for one salute him smile.gif and they can always bring in Bill to do KITT2000 if they choose to for a special one-off or something.

I'm not going to rehash my whole previous KR2000 post, but I really don't understand the hate that movie got. For '91, it was very well done, the car was fresh, it had the original KITT voice and personality, could even float/swim! It was too bad it didn't get picked up, but I am more than happy to have been able to watch it, and definately consider it the ONLY "true" sequel, with Devon, Michael and the real KITT.

I am more OK with the Mustang than I thought I would be, but its clear the the original car was more sturdy (indestructable at all times, not just with the nano's running) and the voice brought much more personality. If they fix up the voice, make sure it has a couple extra options and revamp the music, I can deal with this.... But really, enough of the KR2000 hate, it had so much potential. Yea it looks cheesy now with beretta cop cars, but in '91, going for a "future" sporty look, they had to pick something, and the beretta was still new and sporty at that time! Just enjoy it for what it is!

The other movie poster thing with the black car has been floating around for awhile - a couple years ago this was supposed to be a feature movie (a la Dukes of Hazzard, Starsky and Hutch, Miami Vice, etc) and for some reason ended up back on TV instead. I had originally heard they were waiting for a prototype TA (where camero is, firebird is usually not far behind), but i guess impatience and a writers strike could have changed things.

Go ahead and make your opinion, but bias doesn't change a thing, nor can you change what I said, how I think, and to whom I referred to. How do you explain why I said it? No counter points? Lemme guess, because I can't produce an NBC show? are fools are the only people who will critique something straight up? I said shame on you, it's a TV show. and I made my point.

It makes sense to use good sci-fi. It makes sense to use good plots. It makes sense to make supercars -supercars. I use reason to define what I think, and you snarl. wow make a reason for me to listen, or watch the show, it's not a 1 way discussion. FYI I don't dis-like thier choice to accept the mustang gt kr, I just think it's 2008, just make a good show already. When KR came out it was virtuous. It breathed Knight Rider.

The emotion given to the characters was that of joy, fear, pain, hate, malice, fun, suffering, passion -instilled the identity to the viewer who enjoyed the plot twists, and characters.

What you got were incestuous commercials for a non-existent car(to deny almost every commercial does this is probably a result of one whom allows themself to be programmed -conditioned). Maybe some who read get it, some may not. But it's true.
tonytkr
You know if a Knight Rider video game is made (by whoever makes K.I.T.T more realistic.) they should maybe do a two-disc Video Game.

Where Disc 1: You can play as the Oringial K.I.T.T (80's Trans-Am) and Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff) and the oringial cast from KR, and the oringial voice of K.I.T.T (William Daniels, if he's still around!)

And on Disc 2: You can play as the New K.I.T.T (Ford Shelby Mustang KR 500) and the new voice of K.I.T.T (Val Kilmer) and Mike Tracer (Justin Bruening) and its cast.

This would be a great game for all Knight Rider fans.

To everyone: If you think that this is a great idea, please let me know when you read this.

I'm new to this message board and you may call me niave but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. My son asks every night if we can watch the movie again. I watched the original Knight Rider when I was a kid. I am impressed with the mustang they used in the movie. I was a big fan of the TransAm growing up and like many wanted KITT for myself. This is a new generation that NBC is trying to interest so changing things up is not such a bad thing. I enjoyed the story line and it was something I wasn't afraid to let my son watch, with all the grousome movies and shows out now it's nice to have a family friendly show to watch. I think too many of us get caught up in all the killing and gore of most movies that have appeared as of late and don't respect the "family friendly" shows. I'm so sick of reality shows. Thanks NBC for giving me something my family and I can watch together. Hopefully a series( if there is one) will last as long as the original. I will keep watching.

It's a great Idea!! But youll have to appeal to EAGAMES or BANDIA as NBC doesn't really deal with this.
I had this game but the NES died before the game and it got sold at m moms garage sale before I was 16 sad.gif. http://www.consoleclassix.com/nes/knight_rider.html

I don't even have to read everything, please quite bit chin. I am a long time fan of this and you ppl are gonna ruin any chance that NBC has in mind if you keep talking like that. Give it a chance to fail if you hate it so much and shut up please.
mizzoufan4life
i think nbc should continue the knight rider series the movie got me pumped up for a new series to start i cant wait till the season starts up ive seen little of the 80's knight rider series and i think its sweet, the new kitt is cooler and faster the old kitt was slow and didnt have as much technology as the new kitt, so NBC please continue the series i want to be excited every week to see each show when ever the day it will be on so please make a commercial saying that their will be a new series of the new knight rider Go kitt (shelby g.t 500kr) and to all you haters of the new kitt if you do care for the new kitt then just watch something else and shut the heck up already quit crying like little babys ok biggrin.gif

To all my KR Brothers and Sisters, Also to my Video Gaming Brothers and Sisters. If you recall a game co. named Davilex did a KR game and was mad that it didn't come to us in the states.

Let your voices be heard, Let them know, WE WANT A KNIGHT RIDER VIDEO GAME FOR US ON ALL SYSTEMS. (PS2, PS3, PSP, XBOX 360, DS, Wii and PC.)

Let us Knight Riders NOT FADED INTO THE NIGHT, Lets us Knight Riders be HEARD from everwhere.

Ok, I have been trying for the past week to get my voice heard here! I hate computer problems! lol
Now at first it was going to be a rant about all the whining b/c KITT wasn't a Trans Am.

This was a sequel folks and as Grainer said he dismantled the Trans Am in favor of the Mustang. (That's just better taste IMHO. However, Trans Am has its good points too.)

Plus since when did the script say KITT was a Pontiac? I seem recall the ONLY part of that car being KITT was the computer that was put in Michael's '59 Chevy in that god awful "futuristic" KR2000. Sneer at that if you want but I watched as a kid and thought that movie bombed.

Second in regard to the tech part: the SYNC systems that are now showing up in cars is just that much closer to an actual KITT!! Keyless entry, Power locks. Automatic start. Hmmmm, sounds familar. Now where have I seen that before?

But here's my real reason for typing YAY to the folks saying back off and give the series a chance!
It's about time we had a decent action show pop up, and I am a BIG fan of the Bourne films. I thought Liman did a great job!
As with Bourne, I was on the edge of my seat! Except for one part which I will bring up later.
Plus this has the "Hoff's" stamp of approval. He's in the film for pete's sake!
If David likes it, I do too.

I really really hope the producers and Programing heads are watching this board, because I really, REALLY want Knight picked up as an actual series.
Larson is finally getting the creative accolades he should. First Battlestar and now Knight! YES!

Overall, I LOVED this film! My Hubby who is a Trans-Am fan was really impressed at how well the Shelby worked out! (well duh! LOL)
And even I admit I was pleasantly surprised. I mean we are talking about KITT! lol

The producers need to do whatever they can to KEEP Val Kilmer as KITT!
As much as I identify KITT with William Daniels voice, Kilmer's voice fits perfect with the Shelby.
Daniels and Kilmer both have youth and wisdom in their voices, making the interactions with KITT that much more entertaining.

As for Traceur's little friend and needing money backstory? Totally stupid. I felt like it was only in there to get Traceur where he needed to be to meet Sarah in time. It was almost thrown in there, and it didn't really need it. Please fix this.

In closing, I agree with what someone else here said. It's good to finally have some Family TV ON tv!
I am Soooo sick of Reality its time for some escapism!!

My 4yr old girl LOVED this! She said OH WOW when the bullets bounced off KITT! Then she pointed at the guys shooting and said "bad boys"! LOL
How can you not love that! Plus it KEPT her attention!
Now she keeps asking to watch the KITT car movie! (that's my girl!)

All hail to Knight Rider 2008!
Silvergray
More Knight Rider!!!! More Kitt!!! More Hoff!!!

The movie was a beautiful successor to the show...

Please if anyone in charge is listening: Please turn this into a series.

I havent updated myself on the KR lore in years but, the new movie never mentions the KITT(2000) being dissasembled. I think it would be so cool if both cars came up on screen, and to have WILLIAM DANIELS voice KITT (2000) again. Just to have both KITTs talk to each other would be so worth the couch potato time. And to see them side by side and maybe race or something... wow... and with both Michaels in their respective wheels... aw man... so cool...

More... more... more...

I thought of a god idea for an episode;
Mike and kitt (do to the rising popularity of world trade and the internet) have been sent to japan in a airplane, where they find karr as being a Nissan skyline, and then battle it out in japan while at the same time impressing the ricers with a comeback of a cool american car. Ok i know theres not much there but thats my basic outline.
hows that sound? smile.gif
knightendo_phil
Yes, keep Kilmer! It hasn't made it to the UK yet, but from what I've heard he is perfect! In my previous post I didn't mean that they could change him, I meant that maybe they didn't go with Daniels simply because they wanted a new voice for their new car.

NBC, this looks rockingly good, can't wait to see it!!

HUGE Knight Rider fan here....I'm sorry to sound negative to you all because I was really, really glad to see it revived again so my son would love seeing it as much as I did but I don't see it going into series production. I really wish these execs would listen to true fans and not some new wannebe guy with a TY haircut and earrings(from extremem home makeover). Back in 1987, you didn't see any guy wearing them, only blonde jokes about keeping their heads balanced which hold true today cause the bionic woman has dropped alot in it's ratings too.

They're trying to go after the young generation, just like they did 20 years ago, but no kids will be able to buy this car unless Hollywood and will be bored of it pretty fast. Just look at the cost of outfitting an original 1982 KITT on adiautotech(30K). It's not totally jet blacked out, has chrome rims, too many red markers on the front, no aerodynamics, and the dash is a plain jane ONSTAR. Yes, it's got 550 horsepower but woopie doo. I can buy a 1999 Pontiac Transam for 3K in good condition and throw in a supercharged 500 hp v-8 with jetblack, nose, revised KITT dash, for 7K plus have 7 more plain ones lying around for outside special effects shots TO 1 KR 3000. FORD must have paid the makers alot of money to use the car to boost it's sales because there is nothing on this car to blow my mind away like the original KITT did. I mean, crap, there's a pullout keyboard from the passenger side??

Best to all because all I'm hearing is a revamped VIPER with nanotechnology, which no KITT shell needed, and that KARR voice of "affirmative" or "negative" sounds T-100 Terminator just like a Police Transformer which is boring compared to Bumblee. No wonder they won't have any use for Turbo-Boost, it will jump and climb (darn it can't lubricate the villians too) LOL.

I have a question to any knight Rider fan. Dose any one have a Die cast car of KITT, that can I buy from them?

There is tons of Knight Rider stuff on E-Bay right now. Go there and I'm sure you will find what you are looking for.

Okay, I've read the blogs, now I've seen the movie/pilot. I have to say that all of you people who are complaining about the fact that it's NOT a T/A, get a life! And besides, who's to say that maybe KITT V1.0 won't come back during a special episode where it takes BOTH cars and men to save the day? And yeah, so what if it doesn't have turbo boost? Who's to say that the actual show won't have more of the features of the old car. That's the thing about cars, you CAN upgrade them. Personally, I was honestly bored up until the last 1/2 hour or so. I'm not much into character development, but on the other hand, I understand that it's needed with a new show as well as a new audience. I was born in '78, so I remember quite vividly watching the original show. But they also have to try to win over a younger crowd that didn't grow up with the original. But after all of that was out of the way, I loved it! It took me back to me youth. I know it wasn't a T/A, but that's not what the show was about. It's about the human spirit. The fact that one man CAN make a difference. It happened before on the old series where KITT was pretty much OOC, and Michael did it all by his lonesome. So ease off about the car, and keep this show on the air! It's nice to know that there are some shows that a family can actually sit down and watch that doesn't involve skimpy outfits and busty girls. And there's even a message as well as a great looking car muscle car! smile.gif To whoever fought to get this on the air and off the ground like it's been for 20-some years, my hat's off to you. Keep fighting the good fight, and keep this show rolling!!

I'm a huge KR fan, have seen every episode at least ten times over since my youth. Its unbelievable the negativity and lack of an open mind from these posts. But I suppose some folks were disappointed in the T3 movie, the T1X being far more sophisticated than the T101 and for that matter being female. But then again you cant always have your cake and eat it too. The fact that this was a gm in the series then a pointiac banshee concept in the KR2000 movie does not mean they should use another gm. There is too much focus on the brand of car which did not and does not make the show. No where in the shows title do I see Trans Am Knight Rider as part of it. Its the capabilities of the vehicle and its personality that make the show what it is. So a piece of advice: LET IT GO! Honestly there isn't an American vehicle more iconic than a shelby, for that matter, a mustang. If this pilot makes a series out of it, this suits our time like a glove. As did back in the 80s. I think this pilot was written well, and tied up loose ends to the original series quite well, and that makes me a happy camper.

I gather that some people are either complete morons or just too lazy to actually read or do any research as to what they are about to watch. Let alone any interest in doing so to gain any insight of the show and its similarities/differences between the old and new. Luckily the producers made it easy for those of you unable to comprehend the purpose of this being a continuance to the original. Good job to those of you that guessed this is a movie/pilot, I applaud you. Just what does this mean? Is it to gauge the popularity of this show? If in fact the ratings were and are there, guess what that means? Oh my, is it what I really think? Could it be? Could it really become a series? YES! In conclusion all I have to say is this two hours was at the very least a waste of time, it beats the snot out of garbage such as American Idol and other lame @$$ conceptions of reality tv. The greatest success of a television series in my opinion is drawing my attention away from that garbage. Last Comic Standing is the truest form of reality television, which is where real talent is. And thats my .02$
Rebel_Hound
That premire was awsome. I totally loved it as did my two brother in laws and our dads. We even got my nine year old nephew hooked. We have been watching the old ones with the Hoff but he like the mustang better. We all through our support behind this show and NBC. With so many low quality no action shows or the next rediculous reality show it nice to see something different. This offers a whole new world for Knight Rider and say its about time. Finally!!!! We hope to see this made into a series. I cant stop raving bout it and the guys at work have been talking bout it all week. Now some purists may argue that its not like the original but I say it wasnt advertised that way. It is ment for the next generation of fans and the some of the old ones like me that was about 6 when the first one was out and all I wanted was a Firebird named K.I.T.T. and would play out front for hours with friend taking turn playing Michael Knight and our trusty well wagon K.I.T.T. Its nice to see a show where the good guys and bad guys are well defined and there is plenty of action to boot. Please get some episoded in the running NBC. Oh ya and for the one who mentioned it would be a two hour Ford Commercial ya, are you just jealous because the Mustang looked so good and GM and all the crummy imports were passed over. Of course even if they used a GM its nice to see that not everything is about crummy imports!!! Thanks NBC and Ford for the movie. It was better than expected and a real go getter!!! Love it!!! rolleyes.gif

I have to tell you that I am VERY disappointed in the new program “Knight Rider”. Are of NBC’s writers still on strike?? And are the actors, well at least the good ones anyway, afraid to cross the picket line still???

I was very much looking forward to the reincarnation of “Knight Rider”. But, alas, I must convey my total dismay and disappointment at the uninspiring, lackluster dialog; the flat, two-dimensional acting along with the terrible, trite, pedestrian clichés and teenage fantasy storylines.

Where is the snappy, edgy repertoire?? Why does it feel like each actor is performing separately instead of interacting with each other?? What happened to having chemistry between cast members???

This program is a total bust from the opening scenes when we meet the main characters until I gave up and turned off the television in favor of a good book. Well let’s see , in the opening scenes we get to meet the PIG of a hero; which NBC Executive’s sick teenage fantasy got to be played out in that scene???? What demographic is NBC targeting at it’s 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm time slot???

And then we move on to meet the FBI Agent. Well boys and girls, NBC is giving us a great upstanding character there; we get a promiscuous lesbian FBI Agent in the act of leaving the scene of a one night stand. Wow, I guess since you NBC doesn’t have any good writers and can’t get any actors that have even an iota of acting ability or any on-screen chemistry, NBC is trying to suck (and, oh no, I do NOT use this term lightly here) in viewers using every tried cliché and teenage fantasy available.

Television today has enough garbage on the air: terrible scripts; even worse acting, relying on special effects and violence to keep an audience entertained, and we don't need any new ones. I don’t know why, but I was expecting at least a little better from a remake of an old, but yet successful series.
starhawk
Here is the problem, any Knight Rider fan with a psychology degree is rolling their eyes at most of these posts. We know that while most people might cheer or enjoy the pilot of the new Knight Rider, the ones that are more likely to post or say anything are those with a negative opinion. This obscures the actual number of those who liked it versus those with a closed mind. Humans have a natural tendency to point out the bad, but never the good. Watch yourself throughout the next week and compare the number of negative things you say with respect to the number of good things.

That being said, I have watched the original Knight Rider tv series as reruns when I was in grade school in the early 1990's. I fell in love with it and contrary to the posts of most of you, fans like me who enjoyed the first, enjoyed the second. NBC, I sincerely hope that you take an objective view at the quantity of people who enjoy Knight Rider and continue to produce this series. You are drawing to a much larger audience than you might think. You have people such as myself who grew up on Knight rider as well as my parent's generation as they liked it as well.

The continuation of this pilot show is based on one thing, and one thing only. And that is advertisement. If NBC can fill advertising slots at a premium to sponsor the new Knight Rider series (this also means enough people like it to produce a target audience for marketers), then the show will continue. Good job NBC and thanks.

James

P.S. When Jay Leno ceases to be the host of The Tonight Show, I will stop watching it.
Ticked_off_TransAm
First off I agree with a lot of people on here I think that they should have used a Trans Am weather it was newer or not. But I also realize that with new day and age comes change and I can accept it. But I also agree with a couple people who said it was a 2 hour Ford commercial. And whats with all the driving in the dark? IT'S A BLACK CAR! I mean you cut out all the voiceless mountain driving u have like what a 45 movie? mind you in the begging when they were in the garage I like how the old K.I.T.T was there under a tarp with the hood open nothing like a Tune Port Injection 350. Any who off topic I think in general it was a good movie but like I stated above the driving in the dark was kinda retarded.Oh yeah by the way WTF whats with David Hasselhoff "Michael Knight" What kind of apperance was that? He said like 7 words. Couldnt he of explained why he left his family and where he was and all that? But in all good job not A+ but a B- needs inprovement

Thanx Dru
