It makes no sense for you + all to turn into ya'll, because of its original words and of its pronunciation. You don' say YA + LL , you say Y + ALL. Not bashing you Pax, just TwiceStruck, because he tried to justify it.

Still, it's the Southern drawl that dismisses the "d" at the end of the word.
Technically, if we're going with pronunciation, it would be spelled "yall", but the apostrophe is required to show the contraction.
