in the villians trailer we see hiro and matt dead and someone who looks like sylar strapped to a bed, and derek (who is dead) being threatened by sylar. now if you remember from the episode 11 (i think it is 11 could be 10) commentary david ander's was asked about having a scene with ali larter where he replied "in a twisted dream sequence" maybe one of the villians (maury) induces this dream on sylar and adam and jessica are in it.

well sophie has been around for a while, july i think.

but, this may be far fetched, in the heroes mobile game niki learns of adam in the company files. maybe another personality took over and did her research into him eventually meeting him when he was free from the company. im not sure if the game is canon or not, but the names in it were correct
