Well as some of us know, there is a Heroes video game coming out some time and it is being published by Ubisoft, so I say we discuss what we would like to see in it, ideas for it and more.
Me?
Heroes
Name: Heroes
Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
Publisher: Ubisoft
Picture format: 720p native (upscaled to 1080i/p)
Genre: First person adventre / puzzle
Modes: Single player, online co-op, multiplayer and online multiplayer
Rating: ERSB: M
Platform: Xbox 360 and Playstation 3
Gameplay
The gameplay of the Heroes video game would be in first person, though would combine many adventure aspects and puzzles elements. Think Metroid Prime mixed with Half-life 2. Players would be able to use their physical strength, weapons or abilties in combat. Some characters would have a higher physical strength than others, though not as good abilties. There is not that much concentration on weapons (more on abilties) though some of the weapons include a drain pipe, sword etc. There are vehicles in the game, though they are not primarly used for combat, although enemies can be run over.
The user does not play as a character from the series (though the main cast do make cameos and appearances), instead, they play as a custom created characters. Players can customize their avatar right down to facial details and can also balance the avatar's abilities. Users do not necessarily choose for their avatar to be good or evil, though the campaign storyline and ending can be changed by the user's decisions. Players can commit good acts, self-promotion acts, bad acts, great acts, humble acts and evil acts.
Campaign
Heroes' campaign consists of 10 chapters, each lasting roughly 35-45 minutes. The campaign can be played alone or played co-operativly via xbox live or the playstation network. The storyline throughout the levels change depending on actions taken, and different parts of the levels are activated by making certain decisions, so players can have different experiences by taking different routes each time they start the game over again.
Chapter I: Wake up
Chapter II: Gabriel
Chapter III: Theories
Chapter IV: I'm So Sorry
Chapter V: Sleep
Chapter VI: Boiled Frogs
Chapter VII: Full Moon
Chapter VIII: Everything
Chapter IX: It's Time
Chapter X: Cockroaches
Multiplayer
On a single console, up to two players can play campaign and up to four can participate in a versus multiplayer match through use of split screen. Through use of LAN or Xbox Live, up to four players can play together in campaign and up to sixteen can participate in versus multiplayer matches.
Multiplayer matches are very different from playing in campaign. In Multiplayer matches, players have a choice between various gameplay modes such as; Save the Cheerleader, Free For All, and Team Deathmatch. Save the Cheerleader is much like a VIP game variant in most games, were players have to defend one person (the cheerleader) whilst eliminating the other team's chearleader. Free For All is were it is everyone for themselves and Team Deathmatch is where players work in teams.
There are 5 levels to play in multiplayer mode and they are:
- Paper Factory
- Rooftops
- New York
- Ground Zero (not in main Heroes Storyline)
- Chambers (not in main Heroes Storyline)
Players are awarded points for doing well in multplayer matches (and deducted for bad playing) which can be spent in the in-game store were you can buy new powers for your character, clothes, and exclusive videos and cast interviews.
Xbox Live / Playstation Network
Via Xbox Live or the Playstation Networks, players are able to download new items, in-game content, chapters for the storyline and new multiplayer maps. A month after the game's initial release, an expansion pack would be available featuring new multiplayer maps and new chapters for the storyline for a certain amount of Microsoft Points.
Visuals
The visuals in Heroes are made by a game engine licensed by Ubisoft. The game has High lighting effects (HDR), motion blur and depth of field.
Audio
The game's audio is composed by Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman and there is new material just for the game, though old material used in the show makes casual appearances. All characters in the game are voiced by their original actors, and there is lots of dialouge in the game.
Versions
The game could come in two versions. The standard edition and the collecter's edition. The collecter's edition comes in a round case with the heroes eclipse logo on it and comes with with a "making-of" featurette DVD, a heroes poster, a sneak preview of the next season and a bonus in-game item.
