I keep reading about people having resrvations with tom sellecks character. I like ed deline and would like to see a couple of cameo's however tom's character is supposed to be a variation of Ed's. Personly I like Monica Mancuso (ya gotta love a good bitch)! She stirred so much stuff up that it was worthy of the next episode. Either way with James, Tom , Monica, even Dean Cain's character, the show is still as good as the first day. I look forward to every friday and bought the all last 4 seasons DVD set. Lighten up and roll with the changes. Vegas changes every other minute. Why would'nt the show?
looking forward to this friday at 10:PM on NBC.......

i agree with you. i've liked them all and still look forward to vegas ever week. ed, cooper, casey, they are all great. monica was ok...some of her scenes were funny. like her flying off the roof and everyone flushing her down the toilet.

Those where her only funny scenes. I was glad to see her go. If she hadn't...I would have.

this is where the writers strike could help me. I didn't watch Vegas much until I heard Tom Selleck was joining the cast. I saw a few episodes but I would really like to see the reruns so I would know more about each character. Now I never miss it if I can help it.

In my area you can watch reruns on TNT. At my local Blockbuster I can also rent the seasons to watch them again.

I love Tom but I will still give you the info you requested.

The beginning of season 5. The episode is titled "A hero ain't nothing but a sandwich."

Have been watching Las Vegas since day one, just love it and won't miss it. Didn't think I'd like Tom Selleck but now I'm glad he's in.

James Caan is the man. I hated seeing him leave, but Seleck is as good of a replacement as you could find.

Cooper has to go
Ed Deline needs to come back
I think that Cooper's roll would be ok if it wasn't permanent. Ed Deline, MADE Las Vegas, well with help from Danny and Mike, but really let's let Cooper fly off the roof, and bring back Ed. The show really needs him.

I must admit, I didn't watch Las Vegas very often until Selleck came on. I really liked Caan and his character because as one already stated, he was so believable as the head of a large casino. A 'take charge' kind of guy. But I think we have yet to see the depth of Sellecks character Cooper. He didn't just come in and start trying to change things like some new management does. I think he is going to be a good character addition to the cast. I have always liked everything he has been in, from Magnum P.I. to his westerns and his Jesse Stone movies. I now make it a point to either watch LV or record it.

I am going to give some leeway a little longer to the four producers of LV due to the changeover of the depature of Caan's "Deline" and the introduction of Sellick's "Cooper" coinciding with the writer's guild strike, and as four of the producers are the credited writers, their "writing skills" were not in full swing. However, that excuse is going to run out soon....
Well see how Cooper develops as a character, but thus far I am really dissappointed in the "mystery and quiet mystique" of his background. Selleck is playing this roll like an accountant handing out the results at Miss America. He wouldn't even make a good lawyer role with this persona on a show like Shark!! None of the classic tough leader fare of a Deline or any the showmanship and lively antics of other casino owners (kike the real Maloofs, Steve Wynn, etc) or even the fictional character of Casey Manning played by Dean Cain in the earlier season is present in anyway.
Even the shootout on the 35th floor this last episode was played wooden by Sellick! And this is going to be the anchor for the new "Knightrider"?
The show's chemistry is OK, but nothing of the electric spark that was there during seasons 2-5. I am somewhat of a Sellick fan going back to his first appearance on "Rockford Files". but there are limits.
Somebody better jolt that boy with a cattleprod soon, or there won't be enough audience left to spark NBC into buying a 6th Season.

I personally love Tom Selleck in this roll. I now look forward to watching Las Vegas each week because of him. Not that I didn't appreciate Caan's ability as an actor, but Tom give much more to the show for me. I disagree with TX_Family's comment and can associate with riatagal.
I only watch now that Tom is with the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And, BTW, I only went through with all this "stuff" to voice my opinion. Email? No such thing with NBC.

I haven't seen a lot of the show so far, just most of the first season, a few episodes of last season and all of this season, so I really don't know about the other owners. I like Ed a little bit more than I do Cooper. Ed is a funnier character than Cooper. I like Cooper for his character. Cooper and Ed are two totally different types of characters, I like them both for what they are.

Cooper wouldn't be so bad in this roll if they would stop dragging out this so called 'mystery'. I mean come on. If they continue to drag it out then Cooper needs to either fly off a roof, or get eaten by a squid. Most importantly they need to get Jimmy Caan back!!!!!!

Some people who enjoyed the show because of James Caan may have decided to stop watching. I found Caan quite enjoyable, but I don't feel his departure is a reason to give up on the show. Selleck is a totally different type of actor, and his character nowhere near that of Caan's. I think they're working him into the show quite well, and there's plenty of room to develop the character.

I've watched sporadically over the years.......but Tom Selleck coming aboard has had me watching the entire season.....albeit mostly recorded.
I think a point people miss is that the supporting characters no longer needed Caan. They are now the lead characters and are doing great. There is a great blend of humor, action, mystery, romance and even nonsense that makes it work. I love the fast pace of the show and now each character is strong enough to carry a small plot within the bigger plot of the episode. It works.
It works because the portrayal of the character and how it has been written leaves the dance floor fr the other characters. Ed Deline at what, 65 yrs of age, jumping into every situation got old. That's why i lost interest keeping up.
Selleck brought me in and the writing/acting has kept me interested. I hope for a 6th season.............but I will say this.........
I would like to see more of the playful side of Selleck. Yes, it probably is pining for Thomas Magnum, but is that such a bad thing? That's why people love Selleck.......that role was more his personality.

I agree. I would like a little playful Selleck. Yeah, maybe it is some Magnum attraction but he has that little off humor in a lot of things he has been in. Even the Louie L'Amour westerns he had a humorous side. In his Jesse Stone movies he is serious but I still love him. I like him in Las Vegas but I wish they would cut to the mystery. Was he a private detective in Hawaii at one time? Worked for a rich dude and saved his money to buy that ranch in WY? Now wants some action in Vegas. Hot Cha.

I like Tom Selleck's character. This is the first full season of Las Vegas that I have seen...I anxiously wait to watch it every Friday, and now have to wait forever for season 6. From the bits and pieces that I have seen of James Caan Las Vegas....his character seems more inline with the old undertable Las Vegas and Tom Selleck is more inline with modern management style. Both actors play their character style great.

You're insane. Tom Selleck is wayyyyy cooler than James Caan, and a TV legend to boot. I only watch the show for Tom Selleck. A.J. Cooper makes the show as far as I'm concerned.

I use to watch LV because of James Caan and his hot Cherl Ladd (Charles Angels - still my favorite one too). Danny and Sam are the best.
I like Tom Sellect, but sorry, after watching several episodes with the guy, I fell bored of the show. Need to bring back James and Nikki Cox. LV is not LV without them.
Since you guys been raving about Tom, I will view a few more episodes again. James' role does over-do-it sometime with the CIA stuffs.

I have always loved James Caan. Saw just about every movie he ever made. He was excellent as Ed. That said, I love Selleck in this role. I'm thankful they didn't make Cooper into an "Ed want-to-be". They were smart to make him so different. Selleck really is very charasmatic and charming. I really wanted to see another season of Vegas with him in it. NBC really screwed up this time.
