More spandex?
quityourwhining
I guess it would matter why you are asking.

If you are worried about how it looks to others... jog at home until you no longer care about what other people think.

If it hurts or is getting in the way... more spandex could be the answer.

you would not believe the things we fixed with tape in boot camp.

Stop the jiggle. If it is a matter of discomfort right now, could be your jogging rhythm or the way you move. If it is a matter of embarrassment, suck it up and deal with it.

Basset hounds jiggle when they run.
wanna_b_fit
I sure agree with needing something for the jiggle. Running or jumping jax. Now that could kill me lol. I sure need to get some spandex to wear under my clothes to hold it in place. Hopefully it will help and not roll up my belly hehehe. If that doesnt work I will try the duck tape. I also agree keep working out and it wil fix itself.

OBVIOUSLY none of you have boobs large enough to experience PAIN when they are flopping. It HURTS.

Not sure if you are serious or joking. What's jiggling? Boobs? Thighs? Upper arms?

Wear two sports bras if it is the boobs. Anything else should improve of course by firming up.

Almost everybody has some jiggle. I mean, isn't "jiggle" what got the original Charlie's Angel's to the number 1 show on prime time? wink.gif

If you are older and have loose skin, that can jiggle, but not much you can do about it.Above all, who cares anyway? Unless you are uncomfortable, then you should just be proud to be running and taking care of your health.

Although--I'd still wear two sports bras. You really don't want those to jiggle too much unless you're prepared to be flicking them out of your belly button in ten years. wink.gif

I usually wear a girdle when I start working out.
It works really good for me cause I feel that everything is in place and maybe it psyches me out to think that I'm firmer.
I usually put plastic wrap under it too.

rolling.gif I've heard duct tape is a man's best tool?
my daughter uses it to patch up holes in her jeans and draws on them.
my husband uses it to patch up anything else. I have yet to use it to strap myself down but it is a thought. he he

As someone who has lost a large amount of weight and does, after almost a year, still have quite a bit of loose skin that does jiggle alot when I run...I can say from experience that it is very uncomfortable. Not only is the jiggle uncomfortable, the chaffing that occurs from the jiggling skin rubbing against my clothes is a b!tch! For the time being, I have found that the best way to deal with these issues is to wear compression shirts and shorts under my running or workout clothes. They hold things in pretty good and eliminate chaffing.
prettynplump
Hey tracker, long time no see! where do you get compression shirts and shorts?

Hey Pretty...how goes it? I have been buying the Under Armour Heat Gear compression shirts and shorts. I get them at Sports Authority...don't know if you have one in your state or not...but if not, usually any large sporting goods store carries Under Armour....it's a pretty well known brand. I have tried many other brands and have the best luck with Under Armour.
prettynplump
Under Armour, does it make you sweat or does it keep moisture from your body?

It wicks moisture from your body, so while I do sweat alot...most of it ends up on my clothes and not coating me...which is good.

thanks! that's good info

I've heard the ladies wear double sports bras (actually that came from Bob, but I don't remember where I heard him say it).

I'm a busty gal and I love my moving comfort bra (no, I don't work for them). It's really important to just go try some on and make sure you are fitted properly. I went to the "Bust Stop" and according to them, I am 34H!!!!! I also wear a 34 DD but they never seem to fit properly. Moving comfort fit the best, so I bought several. But go shopping and get what works for you, I tried on many.

If you're talking about thighs, get some of those spandex capri length running pants; I love those. Get the tight ones if that's the jiggle problem and wear big shorts over that.

I used to think I'd get weird looks but learned everyone at the gym is living in their own head and no one's going to make comments (of course, I have a mean look when I work out and truthfully I would deck anyone who called me a fatty. Fair warning to anyone reading in the Tulsa area).

If you take up running, you'll really love shirts with wicking (that may be mentioned on here, I haven't read the whole thing) and coolrunning forums talk about them a lot (they changed format and a lot of us cool runners are at RunningAhead now, but same deal).

Also, go to a running store for good shoes, don't skimp! Again, it's so different for everyone. Get them to assess your gait and then try on shoes. I've had success with Asics (there are soooo many subcategories of those, I liked the Nimbus ones and not just because it was a Harry Potter word) and now I'm in love with my Sauconys - but again, you can't just pick a brand because someone likes it, you need to get assessed.

I'll get off my soapbox....I am passionate about shoes because I had an injury 6 years ago from improper shoes (it threw my spine off and I got ITBS and quit running) and will never make THAT mistake again.

It depends on what is jiggling. If it's your boobs, try this site. You can shop by size, but use the Fitting Guide before you buy. As a former lingerie manager for Macy's, I've seen that most women wear the wrong size, and need to go up a cup size and down a band size. Don't worry about the number or letter - worry about comfort and what is best for your body. If it's not comfortable it's either the wrong size or brand for you.

And let's face it, most sport bras are not pretty if you have really big boobs. But by not wearing a good supporting bra, you are in danger of hurting yourself through strenuous exercise.

Also, I like to wear a camisole with a shelf bra for extra support over my sport bra. As for letters, let's just say I am pretty far up in the alphabet, and I need all the support I can get, plus the cami holds your gut in a bit. biggrin.gif

Hear, hear.... I don't run because I look like Phoebe from Friends and have to hold my boobs down. UGH! And it's sad because I was always so envious of the cross country kids when I was in high school... with their little a-cup chests.
BluesCluesMama
The jiggle effect hurts when you have big boobs. o.O When I started exercising I just about nearly did tape my breasts down everytime. LOL It hurts expecially if they are full of milk after having a baby. I got up to a DDD after having my daughter because of the milk.

She had big boobs??? Mine are twice that size and I thought mine were a little bigger than average. I guess mine must be HUGE!!! Is a 38 DDD HUGE???

I would have to say I've never seen a Basset Hound run.

LOL I have a basset and he's over 14 now, so he doesn't do too much running anymore. In his younger days he was quite active and loved to run. So clumsy he would mow everything over in his path. If he was running at you, move out of the way (but not to worry, you have plenty of time. He was slow). We took him hiking with our other dog and the other dog was on this narrow bridge and the basset ran right through him and knocked him off. He fell ten feet into the creek below.
Anyway, it was hilarious to watch him run. Every piece of his skin would be flapping, along with his ears. He often looked like Dumbo and you'd think he could take off...if not for the massive body and short legs and huge feet and clumsiness.

I don't remember Phoebe with big boobs either, although Onemorechance, I do think you look like her (if that's you in your picture there!).
vbarkley
I think she's saying she look's geeky when she runs, like Phoebe did, plus she has to hold her boobs down.

I wear a 40H, yes, H. I have one style of bra that is even an I. Am I horrified by this? Hmmm, not so much, as long as it is comfortable. There are good bras out there for larger women, you just have to look, and you really can't find them at retail stores. They have a lot of beautiful styles, too, for everyday wear, not for working out.

When I was thin, I was barely a B. laugh.gif
MomAt40Pls
When I first started working out, I went to a specialty lingerie shop so that I could be properly fitted for the right bra. I was wearing a G or H cup at the time, so there was lots to support and I hate to jiggle. I asked for a sports bra and the person who helped me told me that I probably wouldn't get enough support from it. She fitted me for a Playtex 18-hour bra, which was a lot cheaper than the sports bras and worked a lot better too. I have never had bouncing problems in this bra. When I took up running 7 months ago, I decided to try out some sports bras. Personally, I've found all of them to be worthless, so I'm still wearing the Playtex 18-hour (a lot smaller size now, though). I've tried on various styles of Champion and Moving Comfort but didn't like any of them. I've heard that the Enell bra is great, but I haven't personally tried it.

I have heard several times the recommendation of using two bras and I find this idea just crazy. If you have to do that to get the support you need, then the bra is not doing the job it was designed to do. Either you need a different size or a different style or both. I highly recommend going to a specialy store (not just a department store that sells underwear) and being properly fitted for the right bra for your shape.

If there are other "jiggle" problems, then I totally agree with the compression shorts and shirts. I also agree the Under Armour is the best!

Spandex, a tight workout shirt (exercise style) and double sports bras. If you are at the gym and people look at you funny, say "duh, why do you think I am here?"

I call my spandex my motivational pants. I look awfully lumpy in them for now but soon...
ddrfreakali
For years I've given this question the same answer...

Spandex bathing suit!!!!

It keeps my boobs from flopping and it works 100%!

A woman I know tried all different brands and now swears by the "Frog Bra" from Title 9.

This is a great topic and very helpful info too. I have the 'belly sag' going on after loosing just 55 lbs (I have a lot more to go) and it is not only uncomfortable, but embarrassing too. When I all out sprint run it flaps and even has made noises which is just mortifying to me. I buy some "suck me up" underwear that go from mid-thigh up above my belly to my ribs - they are sort of a compression type underwear and they are inexpensive. I think they were less than $15 at WalMart. I bought them to wear with my jeans but found they work great for my running too.
This is a serious issue, the sagging, flopping, chaffing.... yes, funny, and good we can laugh at ourselves, but it can cause some major problems as well. One thing is that for me, I was SO mortified that I almost quit going to the gym all together. Thankfully I figured out a solution but I have often wondered how many others did not - that breaks my heart. Also, if your having these problems you can always talk to your physician about it too - mine has stayed right on top of it bc eventually I will need some type of surgery to remove all the excess skin down there and if we don't keep a medical record on it, and all the problems it causes, well, bottom line is this : insurance co's do NOT want to pay for it at all! So, be kind to yourself, laugh when you can, and keep wise on what your doing!
Thanks everyone for being so helpful!

LOL! You guys have really made my day with this thread. I have prayed and prayed to wake up one morning with a small b or a size chest. Have any of you tried the new spanx? It's supposed to be better than any spandex like undergarment on the market with the wick technology that keeps sweat off of you. I had some that extended from the top of my knees to just under the 'chest' area. blush.gif For that wedding I had to wear a dress at last month. They're not bad! They make different styles and for the most part, it didn't roll like the others do. One word of caution, they are extremely difficult to get on if you have the full length ones like I did. I swear I lost a pound just jiggling my way into them! Go ahead and laugh at me. It was a sight to see. laugh.gif

Why can't this show get a company to sponsor a decent sports bra for these well endowed women? It is so uncomfortable and painful to watch them bouncing all around in their flimsy 80s sports bras intended for women much smaller than them. Is it part of their humiliation tactics, to make them look more pathetic at the beginning of the competition? Seriously, there are some really great bras out there that would make their workouts a lot more comfortable. PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP THEM!!!
vbarkley
Seriously, they have so many choices out there now, especially at Bare Necessities.

It's really bad for your back to wear something that isn't supportive.
Turner_mom
I agree what a great idea! Bra shooping (OMG) just stresses me out and they are the first thing you really notice when they do not fit anymore. I just measured because we are going bra shopping today and I have lost another 3 inches. I wish there was an easy way or excellent product out there screaming at me to make it easier.
bgirlie
I was thinking the same thing, that has to hurt!
rhonde
It not only hurts but not having proper support breaks down muscle tissue within the breast that causes sagging.
kazzieloo
I figured out the sports bra problem. I get the kind that has no defined cups but will stretch to a C. I'm a DD, so it locks those girls in without being uncomfortable. No more black eyes. blink.gif
arwilda
I am a D cup, but I wear 2 sports bras at once. They are just that tank style-- not expensive or anything, but wearing 2 of them really reduces the bouncing and gives good support. I agree about watching them jump around with no support at all -- uncomfortable and NOT GOOD FOR THEM!
You don't have to invest a lot of money on some fancy sports bra -- I just get the Fruit of the Loom, or whatever it is, at Wal Mart -- about $9 for a 3 pack. It does the trick for me anyway.
rhonde
Bob Harper once said it's not the kind of sports bra you wear, it's how many you wear. How does he know?
PEteacher
Oh I cant agree more about the sports bra endorsement! Much needed!!! I teach Physical Education and I ALWAYS have the bra talk with my students. (Well my female students that is...)

I personally wear 2 sports bras and some sort of compression shirt. I hate the bouncing. I dont want to push any products but I recently bought the Zumba sports bra and it is AWESOME. (www.zumba.com) I found that that bra combined with one of my other off brand ones work wonders! Again, I get no money for mentioning them, I just really like the bra. (its not pricey either)
CrabShaman
Things like these are a reason I enjoy being a guy.

Still, whether the sports brassieres are worn for comfort, functionality, or possibly even something of a cheesecake factor, as long as they do their intended job...

...oh, what the heck do I know?
SuperSchweet
Oof I totally agree. It looks like they're in pain!

I like to order my bras from Title Nine Sports. They're a little on the pricey side, but I consider them an investment. I have some that are still in great shape I ordered almost four years ago! Plus, they rate each bra with how much and what type of support it offers. Great stuff for busty gals!
petersons14
All I know is that I was HURTING while watching them jump up and down. There really is nothing like a good sports bra.

Through my years of playing sports and now running I have found what I think is the greatest sports bra. I love it. It is a nike performance bra. I am not that big but this definately (sp?) keeps the girls in place. Hubby bought mine for me at Hibbit Sports (isn't amazing how he finds the right size bra but not jeans unsure.gif ). I think he told me he paid $20.00 for it. (More than what I pay for them at Wal-Mart but it was totally worth it). Hope this helps some of you ladies.

* Sorry for the rambling. Blame it on the ADD.
GyPk
agreed on the mess that this is. At my smallest I have been a C-cup and there was no bounding down stairs/jogging without two sports bras. One encapsulation style (the uno-boob is not your friend) and one tank style over the top to keep it tight. This is not a negotiation because it HuRTS during exercise without this and I can't believe the scant support these women have.
NessaT23
Serious question: Why can't they give the female contestants good quality sports bras? It's painful to watch sometimes.
