I have been watching Conan for a while now, and I recently came across a thought about the strike. The latest episodes have not been nearly as good as they are with the writers, but they are very memorable none the less. So my thought was that when the strike was over, or even in a while, they should release a straight to DVD project with just the episodes without the writers and donate the money to the writers in some form. I realized this when I was watching Conan the other night and when it ended I sighed and realized that I wanted to see more of his beard filled antics, but I could not. Thats where it hit me that Conan should be on DVD or on some kinda online download where I could watch any episode i felt like watching at any time. Who else would buy these?

Not sure if you're aware of this, but you can watch all of these shows online. The problem with that is that the writers aren't getting compensated for Internet videos, which of course is one of the main reasons for the strike.

I know there are writers out there who live paycheck to paycheck, and a project like you suggested would be a wonderful assistance to those people. That being said, I don't see this as being even remotely possible due to legal reasons. First of all, all of these shows are produced by and owned by NBC Universal. If they won't agree to a couple extra dollars out of their pockets for internet based revenue, I strongly doubt that they will donate the rights for weeks or even (hopefully not) months worth of new episodes to help the writers who they seem so insistent upon thwarting. Without the rights to the episodes (which I suppose you could probably buy yourself...if you're insanely wealthy), you can't distribute them. Essentially, it's a great idea, but not a very plausible one. Cheers.
