My favorite Knight Rider character is KITT (Knight Industries Two 2000).

Every since I was old enough to understand what a robot was I have held a fascination for machines, computers, robotics and Artificial Intelligence, I suspect every child does as well.

My mother told me at Christmas that she also used to have a fascination with robots.

Not to long ago my father spoke to me about how when his father (my grandfather) was a youth there were at that time comic books about Fighter Jets and advanced warfare and at that time such things were considered plain science fiction.

I have come to the conclusion that what is often referred to as science fiction will at some point in time become reality, as can clearly been seen in the Star Trek experience.

At the time that Star Trek: The Original Series was aired most if not all the content in that program was fiction, such as the Communicator Device or the earpiece device that Uhura wore on her ear and computers at that time were far being as advanced as the ones aboard the starship enterprise.

In our world today many of the technologies presented in Star Trek TOS are reality; the Communicator is the cell phone of today, Uhura’s earpiece is the VOIP headset used in the business world now and the computer is the major essence of our world.

These points are part of the reason that I’ve chossen KITT as my favorite character, because he is basically not fictional anymore. After viewing FutureCar on the Discovery Channel and reading many issues of Popular Science I’ve been convinced that KITT is a reality.

The reason for this topic is to discuss your favorite Knight Rider characters and how you see cars of the future becoming a reality in the century in which we live.

It is my sincere that this new television series will be as wholesome and exciting as the classic 1980’s Knight Rider and that it will inspire the children of today to shape the technological world of tomorrow as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Star Wars inspired me when I was nine years old.

I am now 19 and a strong Star Wars fan, I also enjoy Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica 1980, NBC’s Bionic Woman, SciFi’s Flash Gordon and Knight Rider.

I hope that the producers of NBC’s Knight Rider will keep the program true to it’s classical inspiration and will make the show in such a way that the entire family can watch it, enjoy it and be inspired.

Constructive, innovative, imaginative and sensible Science Fiction is a portal to the world of tomorrow.
