I tried out for the show in Brooklyn, NY.
Got a call back and an interview at NBC studios.
I'd like to know how long I should wait before I'm certain that I wasn't picked to be on the show.
Do they tell you with only a short notice, or has everyone who's competing this season been contacted already?

I know casting agencies don't call those who don't get casted, but would it be so hard to post this information on the website or something?
I estimate there being over 150 people still waiting just like I am.

Hey Man,

I don't have an answer to your question, but I do have a question for you if you don't mind answering it. What did you tryout for, being a Gladiator or a contestant??? I want to tryout to be a contestant/competitor on the show but I can't find ANY information on it, could you fill me in with whatever you know. Thanks bro...

Kevin

Sorry, I want to check the "post options" to enable email notification if you reply to my question, thanks again...
snipercaker
I'm sorry I don't have an answer either
But,
I am also interested to find out where to go, or who to contact to try out....

Thanks!

What kind of stuff did they make you dio by chance? Was it physical? Or more of a personality type thing?

what it takes to try out as a contestant and pass

I have been searching a lot to see what it takes to pass the physical test for being a contestant.

All i have found not even sure if its accurate is...

30 pull-ups in 45 seconds

sprint 40 meters under 5 seconds

60 push-ups in 45 seconds

thats all i found and like i said not even sure about the validity, hoping this thread will bring more information, lets pool our knowledge

Off a youtube video showing this body builder mike ohearn trying out
dirtybird2002
30 seconds of pullups, as many as you can do

10 squat thrusts karoke drill, suicides across a (basketball?) court, thats the agility drill I think...

40 YARD dash.

There was no mention of pushups.

check DALLAS AMERICAN GLADIATORS TRYOUT on youtube a guy bosted a blog about his experience
happyfriend22
Saw the vlog good call, crazy that he said only 5 people showed up, but i mean i live in ny and had no idea there was tryouts yet also i wonder were they advertise these things if i had known about it i wouldve gone for sure,

Also there is a vid on youtube showing the tryout requirments from season 3 (from back in theday) they said men have to do 24 chinups in 30 seconds 40 yrd in 5 secs, then a rope climb 20 feet in 10 seconds, then a shuttle run in 15 secs followed by a game of powerball sounds ok to me(the powerball), all times are meant to be done under as a minimum

from the sound of it not about form but more about just blasting it out and going for speed and number(kicking up while doing the pushups), i will have to change my workout style for this since my number one priority has always been form, but i think with about a months worth of this style training ill be in good shape.

Where u from dirtybird?
KMaas
In regards to Mike Ohearn and the 30 push-up requirement, 40 yard dash, squats, push-ups, etc., those are the tryouts for GLADIATORS. I saw it on youtube, plus Mike Ohearn (who broke all the records in that tryout) is the guy in the new American Gladiators commercial who at the end has the wavy blonde hair and cracks his neck (also on youtube).

My question was in regards to becoming a contestant/competitor AGAINST the gladiators. The requirements that everyone is talking about are Gladiator tryouts, but I think the vblog youtube video of that guy from Dallas is a tryout for being a contestant. His tryout was different then Mike Ohearn's.

Anyway, it seems like no one really knows how to tryout out to battle against the Gladiators, but if anyone should hear/see something, please post it, that would be great, THANKS!!!

I was just wondering if anyone knew where the new open casting sessions will be? Thanks
idallia
I don't think casting is currently open.

Casting info for NBC shows is found on the NBC.com/Casting page. The link on that page currently leads to a page offering free tickets, but the last taping dates listed are December 12 huh.gif

I suggest keeping an eye on the Casting page for updates.

Unfortunately it looks like casting for contestants is closed for this season, at least according to the casting application.

See for yourself http://www.nbc.com/Casting/Applications/gl...application.pdf

Sorry for the bad news, hopefully the show will make it to Season 2 and give us a chance to try out

Hi,

I tried out for the AG tour show on Long Island in 1991 or 92.
The first part of the test was finger tip push ups. We were supposed to do 50 in a minute or less.
My tester only counted 47 so I couldn't go on to the next part of the test which was a 40 yd dash, then pull ups, and some other stuff that I don't recall. I still have my 8 1/2 x 11 photo of the original AGs framed.

How to become a Gladiator?

I am a 24 year old Fireman from Atlanta, can anyone tell me how to apply to go on the show? I'd love to go on the show. I haven't been able to find anything.

Thanks

Is casting open to be a contestant on AG?

Was wondering how to be a contestant on the show... I know there was casting casting dates in the past to be a contestant but I haven't heard of any recent dates...

Anyone know what to do?? Do you send NBC a tape?? Are their future dates to go try out?? Anyone out there let me know wussup...

I watched the show when I was a kid and wanted to one day go on the show and show my athletic ability and tear up the gladiators!!

Reply back please if anyone knows what to do.

KMaas were you able to get any information about being a contestant on Gladiator? I've been looking up and down the NBC site and all i can find is free ticket information. If you or any one out there can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
paul1mc
I will guess that the requirements are similar to what they were in the past. I had tried out the last two years. The second to last year I made it all the way through to find out they already picked contenders for that season and the director had me contact him directly for the next season. I went, made it through and had one of the best tryouts and found out that they were no longer putting up out of towners for the 2 weeks of training and shooting. At that time the first test was 24 pullups in 30 seconds and most instances they dropped it to 22. The second was a 40 in under 5.0, which normally got the big guys out. Next was a 20 foot rope climb in I believe under 12 seconds. Then it was town to town and could have been pushups but not as a test, some other test and finally powerball against another person trying out. Most of the numbers can be attained by smaller guys which is what they want to keep the gladiators from getting injured. The bigger guys bang out 30 pullups and than have issues with the sprint or rope climb. I will look forward to the next tryout.

Does anyone know if tryouts and casting are open to Canadians?
talokag
I tried out for the old show in two different seasons and two different locations, twice in Tennessee and once in Florida. And at each tryout the requirements were slightly different.

I watched in Ocala while 1500 candidates were cut to 92 after only the first station (24 pullups in 30 seconds). I salute anyone that ever made it all the way, in any season, in any location.

However.....I reserve opinion on the current show until tomorrow night.

Everyone enjoy.

Like everybody else here, I'm sick of checking back for contender casting updates and being linked to a ticket application site for tapings that ended weeks ago. Found an online directory of application info that seems to be on top of it. The most recent info is available here. It's not anything we don't already know, but at least they admit and are tryong to find out more. Did anybody get solicited to be a contender at one of the Gladiator try-outs?
Movilla20
I wanna be on the next series of gladiators, does anyone have any info?

Don't get your hopes up yet. Casting can not be assumed til the show actually picks up a second season. Thus far, the show has to be edited differently to stand a chance.

Rage_1
How do i become a contestent where do i go, can somebody please help me????
paul1mc
Warhammer, I would guess with your size that there is no way you could surpass the requirements as a contender and you are even too big, if all muscle, to be a gladiator. Look at what the others are. I saw people from other countries try out on the old show. But you would have to be strong and agile and even if you could get the chinups, a nearly 300 pound guy would be real hard pressed to run a 40 yeard dash in even a modest time of 5.0. They do not want big guys as contestants as they try to keep the gladiators safe and your stats would make you 40 plus pounds bigger than the largest gladiator.

Don't worry bout it just now Rage 1... Tryouts for this season were September of 2007, Odds are near the end of this season they will post tryout locations and dates on the television just like they did on the original (Im guessing tryouts will be September 2008). If not listed on the show by the finals then just start looking, on this website along with the forums and I'm sure you'll find something. Till then just enjoy Season 1 for a few months.

Well im the 3rd strongest man in my Province in Canada with about %12 body. I also train in jujitsu and swim twice a week so i do have cardio, enough to get through the tests. With 10 years training expiereance.

Im mostly just wondering if being a US citizen will be the deciding factor.
paul1mc
As far as I know being a US citizen does not matter. Nor does your being strong. I saw many a guy like you do 30 plus chinups and then be unable to run at all, let alone climb a rope 20 feet in less than 10 seconds and run 40 yards in less than 5 seconds. I personally did 36 chinups in the last tryout in the prior show. I also made it all the way through. What sucked was that they were no longer putting up qualifiers in hotels as they had in prior years and were only looking for CA residents or someone that would stay in CA for 3 weeks as part of training and taping. Prior they gave $500 plus a week with food and hotel for all and they lost a lot of their funding. They did have many competitors from all over the globe. But you would definitely have to able to not only be strong but be able to run and be agile.

well i have family in LA i could stay with no problem. The sprint would be no trouble i might be big but i am fast. The rope might be the factor that would hurt but if i trained with it i could get it down pack.
Pvt_Wildthing
Hello I am an avid watcher of American Gladiator as a child I watched it at my grandmothers now that it's back on and I'm 20 I was hoping to some day compete. My only concern is if they have weight requirements. You see I'm 5'5" 145 lb., the only reason I still believe I can do this considering my size is I went through military training for 16 weeks. My last week of training I got into a fight in which I busted a kids face off a bunk getting me removed from the Army. I know that this is a tough competition but when in the military I maxed out my PT tests actualy I excelled in PT over max. I just hope to show everyone that those weeks weren't spent for nothing. So what do ya'll think should I even try, or you think they'll just overlook me due to the fact that I'm so small in nature? Someone please let me know... thank you!!
Wilber
Honestly, Pvt.. If you were that quick to share your violent past in the Army with total strangers, then more than likely you would not make it through tryouts. They have people who are trained for this.. to see over aggression in all of the tryouts, in order to weed out the "machoism" "spiteful" contenders. Not trying to say you're a bad person or that they will not approve you, just that "hot headed" people wont get through their tryouts. And so you know.. Moliwhatshisname, is in it and he weighs 155 lbs. My common sense would assume a 150 lb cut off weight, but thats just my guess. It's totally up to you, if you want to go for it..just remember attitude or temper will get you cut faster than your bodyweight. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the input on me watching my temperment, but i feel i must explain you see i didn't attack this person in basic he attacked me i simply defended myself. My drill seargents seen the situation i was in at that point i was removed for hurting a fellow soldier, but I wasn't given any type of article or jail time due to the fact that i was only defending myself. Thank you for enlightening me on my question your response was very helpful and if i have to gain a few lbs. I guess I can manage that.

Is season 2 Gladiators casting still available?

Not for the contestants role I'm talking about the Gladiators position. Because I could have sworn I saw a page on the main site. Where it talked about sending in a video tape, with why you want to be on the show.
And now I can't seem to find that page anywhere.
hitman55
ok, a few days ago, i saw a link for trying out for season 2... now i cant find it.
AzizalSaqr
Hitman, likely it's because they are no longer accepting applications. Keep watching the thread, when they open them up again it'll reappear.
