Here are the official ratings from the Pilot:

QUOTE
Thursday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, the premiere of "Lipstick Jungle" (2.9/8 in 18-49, 7.5 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and #1 among women 18-34 and women 18-49. "Lipstick Jungle" won these key adult-female demos despite significant lead-in advantages for the competing ABC drama, "Eli Stone." For instance, "Lipstick Jungle" built on its lead-in among women 18-34 by 27 percent (to a 3.3 from a 2.6), while "Eli Stone" dropped by 54 percent in that demo versus its lead-in from "Lost" (from a 6.8 for "Lost" to a 3.1 for "Eli Stone").

And here are the overnights from 2/14:

QUOTE
The lead changed hands again at 10 p.m. as a "Without a Trace" repeat scored a 6.2/11 for CBS. ABC's "Eli Stone," 5.0/9, bled a significant amount of its lead-in audience but still did well enough to beat NBC's "Lipstick Jungle," 4.3/8.

According to http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/11/06/in-dv...me-shifted/7716

" other than press releases for the networks the DVR numbers are not currently meaningful when it comes to the decision making process for renewals. As the DVR population increases, sooner or later it will matter on a lot of levels, including renewals, etc. But for now, that does not seem to be the case."

Please- all DVR users- if you want to safe Lipstick Jungle watch it when it's on TV.

^^^^Only if you're a Neilsen family.

And I think you're incorrect. Networks are beginning to pay attention to DVR numbers, as evidenced by one of the recent NBC press releases:

BURBANK, Calif. – October 13, 2008 – NBC has increased its premiere-week adult 18-49 rating by 0.4 of a rating point or 12 percent in "live plus seven day" in-home viewing data released today by Nielsen Media Research versus the previously reported "live plus same day" figures. The new results include DVR playback for seven days after a show's initial airing while the "live plus same day" figures limited DVR playback to the night of the telecast through 3 a.m.

I believe Neilsen acquires the DVR stats from cable companies.

Exactly. Live numbers ONLY matter if your a neilson person. But Tivo numbers are paid attention to, and those come through when they take into account "live plus" numbers. I make sure I tivo all my favorite shows even if I am watching live.

Brooke Shields Wants Fans To Watch Lipstick Jungle LIVE

November 12th, 2008 by Lisa McGarry. Tags: Lipstick Jungle

Brooke Shields has urged fans of her TV show, Lipstick Jungle to watch the show live instead of a recording as it runs the risk of getting cancelled.

“We’ve got a huge fan base, but people are watching it on DVR and TiVo and we need them to watch it live,” the actress tells Parade.com.

“Advertisers are saying, ‘We don’t want to be on a show where people are fast forwarding through the commercials.’ So we’re saying to our fans, ‘Listen, we know everybody loves this show because we’ve got the numbers to prove it. But unless you watch it live on Friday night, we run the risk of not getting to come back.’”

She added:

“It’s hard enough to get a show picked up and on the air,” she says.

“When you get one that you actually really like with a cast that you like, the prospect of it not getting renewed is just so heartbreaking. You’re sitting there going, ‘But people love the show.’”

So the ratings from last night went up a little bit, just 3.58 viewers:(
I guess we can start boycotting NBC now, and let's bombard HBO with emails to let them pick up this show.

We have a one last chance to save Lipstick Jungle. I a freind of the family of one of the main cast members. The word is that the ratings for last night's show did go up significantly. So much so that some NBC execs think there is a chance to save the show but NBC CEO Jeff Zucker needs to be convinced. Insiders are encouraging everyone who wants to keep LJ on the air to send Jeff Zucker a tube of lipstick. Tell everyone you know to do this as a overwhelming sign of support for the show. If we don't make this effort to save the show, including everyone staying home next Friday to watch what as of now will the last episode aired. If everyone participates, this can change Jeff Zucker's mind. Other wise the remaining 4 episodes already shot will not be aired and LJ will be gone for good. Have everyone you know send a tube of lipstick to: NBC Attn: Jeff Zucker - 30 Rockerfeller Plaza, Suite 2502-E Ny. NY. 10112.
JOIN ME IN GETTING THE WORD OUT AND LET'S SAVE LIPSTICK JUNGLE!!!

mccartHey
numbers are up,but they should never have moved LJ to Fridays unless they were dedicated to keeping the show...what a slap on the face to the everyone involved in this project...and to move it to Fridays on Haloween of all nights....Someone was really asleep on the wheel on that one...sounds like a move Griffin would make!! I am sure the cast memebers are just so upset...NBC never gave it a fair shake this fall.... sad.gif
mccartHey
if they cancel a show...look at Kath and Kim... I wactched the 1st 1/2 of that show and went to go clean my toilets it was so bad-they totally missed the angle on that one...saw the Autralian and was really funny...U.S. is just painful to watch.

Look at the stats for the boards...LJ has more topics/responses than 30 rock...that should tell the producers something!

Doti, personally speaking, I don't watch the show as much as I use to. Personally, I liked the drama between Nico and Charles, and the the "powerful" image that Wendy had at her job. Now since Charles has died off, and Wendy is unemployed to me it just isn't the same, so, therefore, I don't watch it as much.

Also, Nico and Kirby's relationship is getting very old and stale to me and just not that interesting anymore. Also, Wendy's marriage, well, it is so so, and then there is Victory, she is just going round-and-round with Joe, which is getting old and stale. Personally, Lipstick Jungle has lost its flavor.

Also, as many posters posted earlier, we don't see "enough" people of "color" on the show; therefore, probably people of "color" don't really watch it as much because they can not relate.

Personally, I didn't like the "NOOSE" comment made by Victory a few weeks ago, and that really put a bitter taste in my mouth that the "writers" would put that in her script. I use to be a BIG fan of LJ, but personally it has lost it "flavor" to me.

Plus on Friday nights, people are out with friends and family, at football games, shopping, or doing their on thing and not watching this show. Like someone else said, I do record it, and "try" to watch it later, but at the rate it is going now, I "may" even top recording it.

I miss the drama with Nico and Charles.... also, I LOVE Roy, and they don't show much of him anymore. Oh well.

Just my opinions~

The title of this one caught my eye. Just how archaic is nielsen? For instance are they aware of how many people DVR or TiVo or even old school VHS the show? Are they aware of the growing number of people like myself that have told the cable and satellite companies to take a hike and watch all of our TV via the Web?

Originally it was an economic decision but now you cuoldn't get me back to the enslavement of watching TV on someone else's schedule or praying I made no mistakes in programming the recorder or the show was delayed by an arbitrary number of minutes due to some national sports event that ran over causing my recording to screw up! Let us not forget when the only network affiliate you have access to has decided some local college sporting event has precedence over a regularly scheduled network show and they just pre-empt it all together. How many times have you been going somewhere and not be able to record every program every you wanted to see that night because the networks are beating each other over the head with their highest rated shows on the same time schedules?

There are now over a hundred websites out there where I can see any show I wish at any time I want after the show has aired on the parent network. NBC/Universal owns one of the best quality and user friendly ones in Hulu.com. So just how archaic is nielsen? Have they caught up to the future of TV yet? Are they getting the REAL ratings picture? cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif

How many of us have the TV on regardless of what show is playing just for background noise? I had no idea ratings were tracked that way. If that’s the case I am turning my TV off completely. Shows that I don’t give a hoot about are getting my ratings while I do other things around the house. What a stupid system. Totally inaccurate and out of date! Get a clue NBC!

Most households have more than 1 TV. If there are 3.8 million LJ fans to date we could double the ratings if we power those up as well? We’ve got to make a HUGE ratings impact by millions or LJ is done this Friday. Turn on ALL your TV’s and mute them if you have to please

I am a typical Lipstick Jungle fan that is "invisible" as far as ratings are concerned. I watch the show online after it has aired. Who is able to watch it on tv every Friday night? It's the most inconvenient time, plus watching it online means less commercials.

I wish NBC would consider the fact that fans aren't all watching the show when it is actually aired on tv. There are many, many more fans than what the Neilson ratings show.

If fans want to keep this show around, though, let's try to watch it when it airs, make a girl's night out of it. Have friends over and watch the show on tv, or leave the tv on NBC when you go out on Fridays. Let's save this show, it's too good to let go!

I just went to the Neilsen website. Those dinosaurs still take most of their info from the electronic diaries they issue to sample households. rolling.gif They're developing other ways and technologies to catch up with what's happening on the web and iPods but they don't seem to have an accurate picture of it yet.

The ladies and gentlemen of LJ can almost forget about NBC helping to save their hides. Every recent move NBC has made has only made things worse for the show. I think they want to get rid of the LJ but they need to justify their actions first, because NBC can't afford to lose and or have any more disgruntled viewers. They've gone from 1st to 4th and the hole still isn't plugged. If they're really serious about saving Lipstick, then they need to show an honest commitment to the show and promote it in a GOOD time slot.
I also think the lead actors on the show should get together and go on Oprah or Ellen and try to promote themselves. They need to make some noise, cause some controversy, let people know they're alive. They need to pull a "Horton Hears A Who" number, so people can take notice. Unfortunately, the entertainment magazine show that are pretty much owned by NBC, are always following stories about; American Idol, Dancing with the Has-beens, Desperate Housewives...so on and so on. Why don't they promote their own shows?
The execs at NBC can't be very bright. They're getting rid of Leno aren't they?

LuvLJ
The execs at NBC obviously aren't "in touch" with what viewers want. They seem to have the most number of failed shows among the major networks. It seems that the only thing that they're interested in are reality shows (Biggest Loser, etc) and testosterone shows (My Own Worst Enemy, Heroes, etc). It was actually a stretch for them to put Lipstick Jungle on!

I read that there was a big shakeup of programming execs at NBC. Hopefully, the new team that comes in will be more inclined to keep Lipstick Jungle on.

It's been YEARS since NBC has had anything interesting on ... when they finally do have a good show, they do their best to hide it from viewers! mad.gif

Listen to the viewers, NBC!
ilovelipstickjungle
mad.gif The ratings can't improve because NBC chooses NOT to promote the show. It's a shame when fans write in and say they recorded NBC all day long and viewed later and NOT ONE peep of Lipstick Jungle. Also it seems to be the huge issue with LIVE viewers-lots of DVRing or Tivo going on-NBC needs to make a statement about how important it is to view this show and others live. Most people out there aren't aware of this. Technology is moving forward-not backwards and the Neilsen Rating scale is way out of date.
friendsfashionandLJ
I taped the todayshow 9:00-10:00, Rachel Ray, Dr. Phil & Days of our lives today, scanned through each looking for a promo of LJ. No such luck. Every other show but LJ got a preview for the most part. I've scanned through so many commercials I've almost got them memorized. Its time to bombard the promo person for LJ! Phone, email, mail!

NBC RESULTS FOR THE PRIMETIME WEEK OF DEC. 1-7

Friday at 9 p.m. ET, "Lipstick Jungle" averaged a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers overall. It is worth noting that "Lipstick Jungle" has been adding an average 32 percent to its 18-49 rating when going from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven day" results. This makes "Lipstick Jungle" the #1 primetime network series in terms of percentage increase from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven" ratings. In total viewers, "Lipstick Jungle" has been adding an average 957,000 viewers to its previously reported "live plus same day" numbers when "live plus seven day" viewing is counted. Counting all time-shifting (going from "live only" to "live plus seven"), "Lipstick Jungle" is the second most time-shifted primetime series on the major networks (trailing only "The Office") gaining 47 percent in 18-49 when going from "live only" to "live plus seven."

If I remember correctly this is the episode that got NBC's attention on the numbers because they had gone up quite a bit from the week before. The week before the rating was 3.33. To make a long story short, this weeks episode was 3.74-so if the week of 11/14 got NBC's attention with its number (3.58) maybe NBC will reconsider the cancellation and see the show is growing. Just my thoughts!!!

No wonder ratings are low, they keep moving the show! I watch every week, and even I forgot about the time change to 9pm. I missed half the show a couple weeks ago when it switched to 9pm because of it.
As I'm writing this, the banner for Lipstick Jungle at the top of this page still says Fridays at 10pm. They need to actually promote the right time!

I'm new...joined just so I could post to the LJ forum. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lipstick Jungle and am saddened by the possibility of it being canceled.

I DVR the show every Friday because of the horrible time slot. Fridays at 9/8c?? C'mon. For me, this is when I give my 22 month old a bath and get him to bed.

I realize recording the show, my viewership does not count towards the ratings. That's why I am suggesting to everyone that records the show either via DVR, TiVO, VCR, etc...turn your TV on next Friday, Jan 9. If you'll be home and don't want to see what happens, mute the TV and put a pillowcase over the screen. If you won't be home, then it won't matter if you leave your TV on for that short amount of time. The important thing is that you want your TV tuned in to NBC and ON so that you count in the ratings and so that NBC and it's sponsors see just how loved Lipstick Jungle is.

I'm new and cannot post this as a new topic. Please, anyone that can, post this idea as a new topic so that we can boost the ratings for the final episode next Friday, Jan. 9, and NBC will see just how important it is to KEEP LIPSTICK JUNGLE!!

Hello everyone!

I'm so so sorry that's it's been so long since I've been able to post. We've been on break for the holidays for the past couple of weeks, and so today was the first day back and I wanted to get on here ASAP to give everyone an update!!!

Sooo here's the deal.

Yes, it said that next week's episode is the season finale, but as you can tell by the wording, NBC didn't say SERIES Finale!!

Which means there is still a shot that Lipstick Jungle could be coming back sometime soon. But it all comes down to ratings.

We've been told by folks at the network, that in order to get more episodes, our ratings have to go up ONE MORE SHARE. What does that mean you ask? Well, this past friday's episode, we scored a 2.9/5 rating (which is up from our last airing on 12/12! Yay!). But in order for NBC to want to order more eps, we have to get a 6 instead of a 5 this week. IF we do that, there's a chance that you will see new episodes of Lipstick Jungle. If we can't get that number, the future is not looking pretty.

So I'm asking everyone who loves this show and wants to see more episodes in the future to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get as many people as you can to tune in LIVE this Friday night for our season finale! There are so many more stories that we want to tell, but we can't do it unless we knock it out of the park this Friday!!

TUNE IN LIVE FRIDAY at 9PM

WATCH PAST EPISODES ON NBC.COM RIGHT NOW!!!

Love,
The Lipstick Jungle Team :-) <3<3<3

I can't believe that they want to cancel this show. I don't watch a lot of TV, but Lipstick Jungle is one of my favorites. They really need to renew this show. Unfortunately, last night's ending, the montage of scenes from the show, looked like a series finale instead of a season finale. I hope this is not the case. If LJ does get cancelled, I think NBC will be losing a viewer as they don't have much else on to keep my interest.

NBC news releases about yesterday's ratings

"At 9 p.m. ET last night, NBC's "Lipstick Jungle" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall) matched its highest 18-49 rating to date as a Friday regular and delivered its second-biggest overall audience over those eight telecasts. From its first half-hour to its second, "Lipstick Jungle" increased its 18-49 rating by 15 percent (to a 1.5 from a 1.3). "Nielsen has measured DVR viewing since January 2006. While online viewing is measured by the networks, relatively no money is made from it, so currently it doesn’t matter to the future of a show."
