Full Version: Knight Rider - Not bad, could use some work.

Lehm
Caught the new Knight Rider. Far better than some of the attempts to revive the franchise, but could use some work if made into a series.

1. Rework the theme. It started off well but then became jumbled mess, too much guitar. Themes need to have a destinct sound to them.
2. Speaking of music, how bout it actually fit in the scene. The selection of music during the show seemed almost random and certainly generic.
3. Tighter editing
4. Lose the plane. For something that's supposed to be undercover it seems kind of noticeable. The semi worked much better. And it just seemed kind of silly.
5. Better dialog. I caught myself several times saying the lines, before the characters did. It was completely out of a can.
6. It's a ford...we get it. Stop beating us over the head with it.

So like I said, didn't completely suck, but needs much improvement if you want me to watch it on a regular basis.

I loved the KR movie but needs some work.

Im a huge fan of the orig, KR. grew up watching it, ect ect. I loved the movie and am hoping for more but i just felt i needed to throw out another thread pointing out some things id like to see changed

- kitts personality needs a bit of a boost as mentioned in other threads.

- PLEASE PLEASE bring back the swishing sound of kitts scanner, that noise HAS to be included if a series is made.

- kitt needs an upgrade INSIDE the car... Less is more these days but not for kitt. maybe not as extravagant as the old kitt but give him something other than a stupid screen.

-the cheesey OC/one tree hill/drama music in every scene is BEYOND annoying. get rid of it.
Whiplash
Agreed. All shows pilot has things wrong with them. They will fix them.

KITT mentioned he was not fully tested yet, so I assume once he is he will have a better personality and maybe a more computerized voice (you could tell it was somebody else not the car, just 10% computer effects might be enough) Im not saying have it like the Transformers, just a tad computer-like.

KR was good, but a couple things need work!

First, I'm a Big KR fan, grew up watching the original show, never missed it. I also own them all on DVD.
I also, remember the First Knight Rider movie, Knight 2000, the main problem with that movie, is also one of the problems with this latest movie.
And that is, what happed to the old KITT!!! ( in the Knight 2000 Movie, KiTT was dismanteled and parts sold off, who in there right mind would do this to a car like that?!?!?, it's not like he was and old dirt bike or something)
Now, In this new movie, the panned the garage and you could see the old KITT, with the hood off, and partly covered with a car cover. Now here is the issue, why was he taken apart???? I can see if they removed his CPU and put it into the new KITT, but that is clearly not what happened, if they did, KITT would of acted like his old self, and retained his memory's, talked about the old days, ect... Now this is what they should have done, and KITT would be like "I use to roll with your father Mike" lol
Anyway, this is what burned me the most! If they didn't upgrade KITT, then why dismantle (Kill) the old KITT, if you are building a brand new one? I'm sure he just didn't stop working, just not something you would do to to him, I mean he was almost human in a sense.
My next biggest issue, is with Mike's father, they only had the Hoff in the last 4 min, of the show, now Mike never has seen his father, and vs versa, and that's the only conversation they have?
Another thing, the show is called Knight Rider, well, the kid's last name isn't Knight, nor does the rear license plate say Knight... What's up with that.

Bottom line, they needed writers that know the old show, and can tie it in better... they did a poor job of that...
Now, don't get me wrong, I really hope they go into full production, but they really need to work on some things...
