Excellent episode. Everything I look for in great drama. Thanks.

SPOILER WARNING ***

Loved the episode. I consider myself knowledgeable about the whole L&O history...

...so when they referred to a certain detective when Olivet took the stand (trying to keep it vague so it's not a big spoiler), who was that detective? Was this in an episode (which I apparently missed or forgot about)?

If any L&O fans could help answer this question, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

What show was the judge from tonights (3-5-08) episode from? A comedy I'm pretty sure.

It was Mike Logan. His partner, Max, was killed in the second season.

This episode had me screaming at Cutter; when he was talking to the 14 year old girl about why she changed her mind in regards to the whereabouts of her mom the night of the murder. I was like 'Dude, do you really want to go to the disciplinary commitee and be beheaded by McCoy in the process?!'
But at the end when Cutter's questioning the woman and made her realize she killed the guy for nothing; his facial expression? Priceless.

I'm going to disagree, here, using a series of points I read from a friend.

"Just because Olivet slept with a police officer doesn't mean it's one of the show's detectives. As the dept. psychiatrist, she treated more than one detective for the "loss of a partner."

Also, in the unofficial L&O book, Carolyn McCormick said that there was no Logan/Olivet relationship (publication was around 1998, so if the writers WERE trying to imply it was Logan/Olivet, it was with shoddy research, added in currently for sensationalist reasons).

In addition, when Olivet was raped (Season 3, "Helpless"), Logan was very calm about the situation. Based on his character and history, if he had been sleeping with her, or had previously had an intimate relationship with her, he would not have reacted so calmly. We also don't know that she didn't treat him as a patient post-Season 2. Actually, in CI's "To the Bone", she did see him as a patient.

For that matter, did they actually say that the partner had died? "Lost" could be interpreted differently. Hell, Lennie "lost" Mike to Staten Island...so who else could it possibly be? Anyone. But thanks to these keys, we know it's not Logan. It's a bit of misdirection and sensationalism."

Or else it's very bad writing and a disregard for the show's past. I'd rather go with "It wasn't Logan."

Actually, thinking of "Helpless?" It simply could NOT have been Mike, as he could not have investigated her rape without endagering the entire case.

These are some great points. I'm just not convinced that the writers would have thrown this out there if the detective wasn't somebody we knew. Is it possible that the affair started after "Helpless"? Logan might have been receiving treatment for Max's death long after it initially happened in Season 2.

I wasn't impressed with the acting in this ep - Moira Kelly, who's not aging gracefully unfortunately, seemed empty. I think the only bit of acting she did was her realization on the stand at the end. Her daughter makes me wonder just where they're finding actors - she was horrible and irritated me more than anything.

This season is really not impressing me at all. The main characters aren't gelling and I'm usually just disappointed at the end. The build up for this storyline alone was a huge disappointment. Oh the daughter found the tape and left it in the kitchen next to the PBJ. Oh the twisted doctor was writing a memoir about his underaged patient he had sex with and married. Oops, said patient/wife shot up his office. Even though kids in the beginning failed in their portrayals as hopeless children. Especially the father laughing at his kid who tried to slice his throat. This ep was all over the place and is devoid of that L&O spark.

I enjoyed the bitter twist of irony at the end. "L&O" does this better than any other show. I especially liked the moment that brought it about. When the witness said something that triggered a spark and the lawyers went into action.

I hate to admit it but I missed this episode...we had bad weather that night and my direcTV went out. Anybody give me the 411 on the show...I did watch the 2 minute update on the site...Did the wife kill doctor? Or can you tell me when this episode airs again. I know they repeat them on Saturday night...guess I'll have to keep my eye out for this particular episode.

She killed the guy. She thought the guy was having an affair with the "Meredith" he was talking about in the tape. But it turns out that "Meredith" was the name of the town where their romance began years before; everything he was saying in the tape was for a memoir he was writting about her and him. When Cutter told her all that, she realized she killed the guy for nothing and broke down on the stand. Talk about faux pas!

Does anyone know who played Emma, the little girl? I know I have seen her in something before but I can't think of what and where. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

PS-sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, it's my first post.
