I know it says up to 90 seconds; But do the judges cut you off? What's the least and most time you've heard of people getting?

I'm going to perform spoken word poetry (which is very risky)- but i do it with music and a live orchestra;
But I need a full 2:30 for it to really impact.

Apollo.. Just as a general auditioning rule of thumb ...You shouldn't plan on the 90 seconds, as something could always happen (the lines are too long; a couple of the people who are doing the initial judging were sick and couldn't make it, so they could be short handed; ANYTHING!!!) and the powers that be could decided to shorten the allowable audition time. Start from your most meaningful point. If there is a particular point which really showcases your talent, you need to figure out a way to start there, or at least make sure that it is apparent in the first 10 seconds of the audition. The last thing you want to do is go home knowing that your best stuff never got heard, and it was only the intro that you are being judged on. You would feel like you have cheated yourself. Prepare for the worst possible scenario. If you can ace that, if you have more time, it will only be icing on the cake.

One of the the things I have liked best about this board is that everyone is helpful, friendly and wanting to help each other. I have seen kindness from adults and kids alike and I am impressed by it. mypiano, with all due respect please don't start any nastiness here on this board. You may be one of those people that believe in always telling the what you feel and maybe that is what you thought when you left your original post on poetry. If it is not your cup of tea then so be it but please treat everyone with respect.
