As I read it, "interviews" is just referencing what we all know as the audition. They must have a different writer on a daily basis executing the promos on the initial AGT page because the narratives have been different throughout this whole experience. It also identifies how the use of certain words can conjure up all sorts of emotional responses.

Of course, we are all so sensitive, hanging on every word, that using different descriptive words has us all on edge. Like, "...they didn't call it an interview in Nashville." or "why are they saying it's the best of national talent - they didn't say that in Dallas". I wouldn't make anything out of the word "interviews". Hang in there. Chicago and New York auditions are next, and after that, I believe, that's when the call backs will begin. I continue to believe that the LA auditions are nothing more than another audition, - no different than Nashville or Orlando. but alas, this is nothing more than my opinion. Best of luck to all of you.

LA auditions were long. Don't have much time to post but here's the short story: We waited 5 hours. My daughter auditioned in a room with 5 other people! We were told that there would be no call backs and they were either going forward right after audition or going home. No one in our group made it.
The staff was very nice but I got the feeling that there were too many singers. In the holding room producers were very interested in unusual talent.
I don't want to discourage anyone. LA wasn't even posted on the web until that day. It wasn't an open call. Everyone had to have been invited (from registering online) in one way or the other.
My daughter, being true to her initial statement said "well mom, at least I got to experience a big audition. But they really should have picked me!"

We arrived really early. We waited only about 2 hours. My daughter's audition went very well, but they producer said she was really good, but we already have too many singer's your age. I'm wishing we could come to the audition a few days earlier. She may have had a better chance. Also, if they already had enough singer's I would have appreciated a phone call. We would have not gone, we drove from Sacramento.

This is for the both of you that auditioned in LA we took the family and our daughter auditioned yesterday morning, her time slot was the 9-12 slot. There were ALOT of talented musicians and of course some that were decent and omg some that really needed a wake up call. I would say that about 70 to 80% of the room's talent was some sort of musician or singing talent. But it was very obvious from the whole experience that they were never really looking for singers, especially after my daughters audition.

All in all it was a great experience and a very humorous one also. There were some pretty crazy costumes to go along with their acts, and believe those where the ones that would make it to the next round. They informed everyone as they got in line that they would find out 'TODAY' if they made it to the next round, if you made it through you went to another audition room immediately after your first audition, from there they would tell you if you made it to the call back show at the end of the month in LA. My daughter auditined well (she felt was her best audition yet) the judges were very positive as they asked her some questions like what type of genre of music she plans on pursueing, which she informed them country although the song she was going to perform was not country. She sang her first song and felt she nailed it, then they asked her to perform a country song, so she sang a more upbeat one. they finished in telling her that she had a beautiful voice, and definitely had the look but they just werent looking for singers and were looking for more like acts for this show.

It was very disappointing to her, but WOW what an awesome experience and a little preperation for next year (american idol and/or nashville star). It was disheartening to see how many great singing talents came out to audition and really had no chance of making it through. Out of the line of about 30 people ahead of us and a couple behind us only 1 person made it to the 2nd audition. And it was a guy in a crazy outfit with a top hat. That was probably the most disappointing and confusing thing for my daughter as she just couldnt understand how you can call it a talent show if you are only going to let the outlandish outfits pass through with mediocre or no talent and pass on true talent - as we heard some spectacular singers.

After our long drive back home, her spirits lifted and she came to the realization that her audition was good enough and she just had to come to grips that this show is truly for acts. Lets face it, it is a Vegas show, meaning if you are going to see a show in vegas what do we all usually go see, the comedy acts, or magician shows, etc. No hard feelings or regrets because it really was an enjoyable experience and everyone there was very nice. Now it is time to just prepare for next year or anything else that comes up. Good luck to everyone else still waiting for a call back or attending a future audition!!!!

No matter what your outcome is from this show NEVER give up on your true dream!!! Just remember that almost always you will get 1,000 no's before you ever get a YES. Chin up and move forward.

How old is your daughter? Just curious because my son is 15, and he auditioned in Orlando. Thanks TR

My daughter is ten.

Interesting to see these later posts. Really didn't want to discourage anyone but for the sake of the kids who really rocked their audition they need to know that it's sometimes just a matter of too much of a good thing (too many talented singers).
I spoke to other people who drove all night to get there, were staying in hotels etc. That part is tough.

On the bright side, my daughter has been asked to audition for two other things this weekend! (not at all related to AGT)

String of Pearls...you guys are incredible. I grew up listening to Manhattan Transfer, so I love the kind of music you all sing. I am rooting for you to get a callback---you look like an act that this competition was made for.

You can hear my husband sing on youtube if you do a search of "pianokid2007" on youtube my son is also playing Cantina Band on the same channel.

Best of luck girls!

My cousin auditioned in LA and tole me that she was auditioned twice, and then they asked her to come back later this month to tape in front of the judges right there. She won't tell me much, but she had to tell me about the taping because we had something else planned. I don't want to get her in trouble by telling too much, but I know most people here are wondering and worrying abuot what's going on. I also think they are paying for her to come back because she said she didn't need to borrow any money.

She is not a singer, but I am not going to say what she does becuase I don't want her to get into trouble. She's going to be mad at me for posting this. But I know most people are wondering what is going on.

I read somewhere else on this site that, maybe it was Simon from last year, that they call back about 150-200 acts, and do a boot camp. Then they pick the top 10 or 20 (?) from that to be judged by America. This was from official people, not others on the boards. And under RECAP it says something similar too.

It seems if you are a singer, you are under intense competition. And competitions are difficult because they are subject to other people's opinions, which can vary from day to day. It doesn't mean you are better or worse than someone else --- it's just the luck of the draw.

These people are trying to create a fascinating TV show and need to do what is best for the show and its ratings, not what is best for each competitor. The better the show does, the more they can charge the advertisers, and the more money everyone makes. So I hope no one lets this show affect there self-esteem. If you are putting all your hopes into this one show, you need to re-think your strategy. As my grandpa used to say, "don't put all your eggs in one basket." Get out there and audition for everything and get all the experience you can. There are other ways to succeed!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the long post. Since I knew my cousin was auditioning, I have been reading these boards and feel like I know some of you.

Good luck to everyone! I will be watching the show!!!!!!
