From reading various post, it seems that they aren't really looking for anymore singers? Is this the case, or is there still a chance if they find someones singing to be potenially star material?

P.S. If you get a chance, check out my music at www.myspace.com/briansmoot and let me know what you think.

you can never be too sure. its mainly all up to them. if they think you stand out from other singers and they want you for the show then they will take you. dont let it get to your head ; )

I would say yes. Let's watch and see who comes out of the latter cities like Dallas, LA, and NY.

Really like the song Dreamin, and was wondering if you wrote it. You have a great chance to impress the Judges, and don't forget your guitar. Tr

Singers at Chicago audition

Any singers from Chicago make it to the next round? Just curious if they are still accepting singers. I was thinking about going to the New York audition.

a buddy of mine was at the Chicago auditions and the advice he gave me was- ' If you are a great singer- go for it. If you believe in yourself- never turn down an opportunity to audition.'

I have to agree. Yeah it seems like singers will have an up hill battle to impress since theyre are a ton of you auditioning- but go for it!
Belter36
well I personally think they are looking for "acts" not necessarily talent!

I auditioned in Chicago today. I'm a singer, guitarist and I also play harmonica. I did James Taylor's Copperline but I didn't make it. They were really nice and said that I did a great job, and should try again next year. I knew there would be a ton of singers and probably a fair amount of guitarists, but I thought the harmonica would give me an edge. I'm considering auditioning in NYC because I live in New England so it's within driving distance. They had the audition rooms organized by the different types of acts so if they have the same producers in NYC it would be extremely awkward and there would be no way of knowing until you walked into the room. Is anyone else who didn't make it through in Chicago as a singer or musician considering NYC? Anyway I'm only 15 and there will be many more opportunities. Good Luck to everyone.

You always have the right attitiude. Thanks for always giving good, uplifting advice. There are no let downs when you have that kind of attitude. Way to go. I believe that if you always feel defeated, then all you will ever get is defeated. If you always feel fortunate, you will always be fortunate. Anyways, just wanted to say that I appreciate the attitude and example you put forth. thanks

I agree with you, QueenFish. Having the right attitude is everything. My husband has an amazing voice, but even he knew it is all timing in this business. He will keep on singing no matter what, and my world is all the more blessed because of that.

Let me know what you think. By the way, have you made a youtube video yet?
Have a great day.

Who really knows but them as far as what they are looking for! You always hear the judges saying that they're looking for fresh new talent. There are a lot of talented people in every city they travel to but still, only THEY know what they're looking for. I'm a singer... and just discovered I was a good singer about 7 months ago just by playing a karaoke game on Playstation. I've never sang before... never in a choir, never in school, never just as a hobby!!! When I started going places to sing karaoke everyone thought I was a professional singer and was with a band or something. I am not and never have been. Everyone encouraged me to to this audition because they thought I was very special and very talented, so I did! I am a 30-something year old woman of color who sings rock n roll music. My style of dress is unique... kinda punkish but not too extreme. Everyone thinks I look like I'm in my early 20s and I'm in very good shape. I know I definitely stand out from the crowd and don't have that typical AmId (that other popular show for singers) kind of look. I'm a rocker to the fullest extent. I chose Led Zeppelin as my audition song so that HAD to have stood out!!! WHAT MORE DO THEY WANT????
pizzagirl543
There are a LOT of singers in this contest so I think they'll narrow the singers down by only letting the REALLY talented ones go on.

I'm really scared
I might get cut because i'm a singer

I know a lot of singers audition for this competion, but any of us who are singers might get cut because there are simply way too much singers auditioning. This is my only oppurtunity to become a singer. What about you? I'm getting scared. My audition is a few weeks (i'm going to the NY audition) I don't want to get my hopes up when I audition (or if I audition in my case)

Sing the song you sing the BEST!
Start with the chorus
Show off your personality

If you do those 3 things if you're a singer then you might have a better chance of getting a callback! Good luck to everyone: singers, jugglers, whoever you are whatever your talent is.

Your husband has a wonderful gift! You are also right about our Queenfish. She is a source of encouragement. I would like to join her chorus of encouragement, especially as it relates to your husband. In his case, and yours too, you know where the gift comes from, and that is his heart. You also know, you must know because of the name that you use for your sign in, that what we do ultimately is for His glory. So with that said, you/he are already winners!

If we believe that God has a perfect plan for our lives, then it is our job to be sensitive to His leading and recognize opportunities. Best wishes to you both.

We are String of Pearls and we perform Big Band vocals.

All three of us originally began in gospel. We continue our testimony through our concerts and God has blessed us so very much. We, too are hopeful that this door of opportunity will open for us. But we also know that there is a greater prize - and that ultimately is our goal.

God Bless!

I agree. They cant choose all the singers from like the first 2 cities. they should just like allow a max of 20 or 30 or whatever from each city. i mean, its not our fault NY is a late audition city!

Why would you think this is your last chance to become a singer? It's just a TV show...you can be a singer anytime you are ready. Just get out there and do it! Join a band, try out for other shows like this one...it's NEVER your only chance unless you are giving up!!! Never give up! You can do it! smile.gif

Good luck!

Hey chin up, you've got your life ahead of you. You could be like me and your time could have passed. I'm "older" and I really have no more chances. Hang in there your time will come!!

Thanks! I hope so. There are quite a bit of contests that let all ages enter. I'm saying you're this old, but there was a rappin' grandma in Season 1! Good luck auditioning+everything.

Hey,Well at least you will be able to audition for american idol.I never got a chance to because of my age.I am now 32 years old and they lowered the age limit. In which I beleive that its wrong, not too give older young adults like me an opportunity I have never had.American Idol, will never get off the air.Its way too popular especially for the young ones.Ofcourse they have chosen whoever they wanted to like they west always do.I believe that the real singers didn't get chosen.I wish I knew why.Good Luck to you in whatever you decide to do in your life.
