Terrible!!! The second I said I'm going to do poetry they weren't interested. They didn't even LOOK at me during my audition and spoken word is a PERFORMANCE; I might as well have send in an mp3! I stopped halfway through my poem because I was performing to the wall ; One judge's opinion is a terrible way to pick who should go on and she looked like she was trained to not look the person in the eye while they're performing; She was ruffling through papers while I'm sitting there pouring my heart out . I really think i could've done something this year with this show ; I would've performed a theatric poetry piece with a live orchestra behind me. They ONLY taped people who were dressed like it was Halloween.

Instead of picking some talents who have something to say that will inspire people, they pick these clown acts. How sad to the real talents out there

Poetry is an art form... Its really depressing how some producer's won't even look at your unless you are completely wierd.

I did MTV'S True Life a few years back, but that was for hiphop
Its hard to get love when I do poetry ; but if they just gave it a shot, it won't only entertain the country, it would inspire so many people; I hope they pick at least ONE poet to make it on TV.

I think NEXT year I'm going to show up dressed up as a schoolgirl or an alien so i can get that attention, then rip off the mask and do poetry haha

That is a shame. I love poetry personally. I did post a link on here awhile back, but can't remember where and there were many auditions/contests, etc. for just poets. I think they were all in CA. Also, in reading one of the earlier links about AGT on "Sir Links a Lot" there was one person who did some type of version of "Hiawatha" that may have made it through. I, too felt like if I had dressed my son up as a cucumber or put antennas on his head, anything strange, etc. he would have a had a greater chance of making it. Most of the acts that seemed to be interviewed and receiving attention in Charlotte were silly. I'm sure there were some good ones too, so please do not let that statement offend anyone.

when you said you spent 500 dollars... are you saying this cost money to audition for?!

Wait it can't be because my confirmation e-mail says that the audition is free maybe this person spent it on transportation or the outfit he/she wore on their audition day.

Sorry if it looks like i'm bragging, i'm not. I'm just saying that the audition is free. I'm just really excited. America isn't really exposed to poetry as a HUGE talent. but it is a lot of work to not make your poems sound cheesy and make them sound wonderful. You should go to those clubs where you can present your talent and try next year for AGT if you want. Not everyone hates poetry but it isn't show buisness talent to them, but try anyway.

yeah, it makes sense now that you said transportation and the hotel and all of that. and i hope i get my email too. ill be so happy that ill punch myself in the face haha. i been waiting so long that im actually more excited for an email more than the actual audition

I, personally don't like poetry performances. Alot of these guys are very creative and their poetry is clever but- after a while- it all runs together. They seem to adopt the same rhythym over the course of the night.

That said, I have seen your page and I think you are the cream of the crop. Most of the other guys are making you look bad. Which is, maybe, why the judges went deaf and blind when you took the spot.

Not fair but these guys must be pretty numb by now.

dont feel bad the judges did the same thing to me looking at papers had there head down in the middle of my audtion and i stoped in the middle to i was a little upset but im going back to audition in ny

Hey my man, I checked you out on myspace, and needless to say you do have talent. You just have to find different ways to expose yourself....I mean just think, if the people on this board like your art and I like your art, there's gonna be at least a million people out there that think the same as we do. You found away to make us all hear you and listen, now just mutiply that by 100.....Good Luck
