I am an avid viewer of medium. Throughout the show I never see Allison talk to her or address her spirit guide or guides and I don't ever see or hear her saying protection prayers. I wonder if the producers left this out because of some issue or if the real Allison didn't do it either. Any thoughts on this?

Why does she have to have spirit guides? What, is she native american or something? No. She's just a medium. She sees dead folks and she has premonition dreams.

And why would she say any protection prayers? We have no reason to believe she's religious or spiritual in any way. As far as I can tell, she's neither christian or otherwise. Not wiccan or anything else. So why pray? And what does she need protection from? They're just dreams and premonitions.

You don't have to be Native American to speak with guides as a medium. Many mediums DO speak with their guides. Having Allison speak with guides in the show, however, probably wouldn't fit into the plots very well.

"Medium" as a TV show is a great and there are a lot of accurate things about it, however, many real life mediums DO have and communicate with guides (or whatever you want to call it) and many do say protective prayers or other rituals before connecting to that spirit world.
Not every medium is like the Allison that we see portrayed on television.
