Want to see. Maybe Jack Nicholson can play Christian Slater's Dad. Ahhhhhhhhhh, I joke, of course. Normal guy in extraordinary circumstance. SUPER FRESH!
But seriously, the preview looks good, and Christian Slater does very well with good material. He's sorta quiet though.

Henry Spivey, an efficiency expert, lives a typical suburban life, right down to the wife, two kids, dog, and minivan. In contrast, Edward Albright is a lethal, multilingual operative. It would seem the two men have nothing in common -- except for the fact that they inhabit the same body. When each personality finds himself out of his element, things go awry.

The trade buzz on the show has been very positive so I am looking forward to the first episode. NBC has ordered 13, the standard for a new show, so it appears that we may have at least one full season if the kick off stats are postive...
I agree, if it can survive the death slot, we may be looking a a great new vehicle.

NBC ALLOWS VIEWERS TO GET A JUMP ON NEW FALL SEASON WITH 'THE NBC PRIMETIME PREVIEW' SPECIAL – HOSTED BY ZACHARY LEVI ('CHUCK') -- TO RUN OVER MULTITUDE OF BROADCAST AND ONLINE PLATFORMS FROM AUGUST 30-SEPTEMBER 28
Published: August 6, 2008
BURBANK, Calif. – August 6, 2008 – NBC draws back the curtain to provide broadcast and online audiences an early sneak peek at the network's new and returning series for Fall as title star Zachary Levi ("Chuck") hosts "The NBC Primetime Preview" -- a 30-minute cavalcade highlighted by an exclusive backstage look to be conveyed on a full spectrum of NBC Universal media platforms beginning August 30 through September 28.
The show will also feature appearances by Christian Slater (star of NBC's new drama "My Own Worst Enemy"), Molly Shannon and Selma Blair (stars of NBC's new comedy "Kath & Kim") and many NBC stars from the cast of such favorites as "Heroes" and "The Office," among others.
The annual Fall program will be offered to NBC's 232 television stations (check local listings) as well as other channel entities such as USA, SCI FI, Bravo, UniHD, Chiller, mun2, MSNBC, CNBC, Oxygen, Sleuth, NBC2Go, on-demand and broadband. NBC stations can also run it on their websites while NBC.com will also run it as well. In addition, the program will be screened on selected United Airlines flights.
NBC's Fall 2008-09 premiere week begins in earnest on Monday, September 22.
Debuting on Monday, October 13 (10-11 p.m. ET), executive producer/creator Jason Smilovic teams up with executive producer/director David Semel on NBC's new drama "My Own Worst Enemy" -- a show that raises the question: who can you trust when you can't trust yourself? Starring Slater ("Bobby") as both Henry Spivey and Edward Albright, the series explores the duality of a man who is literally pitted against himself. Also starring are Yara Martinez ("The Hitcher"), Alfre Woodard ("Desperate Housewives"), Mike O'Malley ("Yes, Dear") and Saffron Burrows ("The Bank Job").

There was a short story with a similar principal many years ago - I think it was in an Issac Asimov compiled book (not by him though). In that, psychiatrist created dual personalities in Astronauts because a normal human could not stand the rigors of space. An astronaut would have his normal personality, but he was hypnotized such that when he entered the cockpit the alternate personality took over. They had no memory of flying a mission, but the public did not know - so they were considered hero's.
In a neat twist, there was an emergency that could not be handled by the 2nd personality, so the star momentarily took control and got to see space. But a 3rd personality took over that could handle the emergency. It would be cool to see if the show lasts if they will have a similar "3rd personality" that takes over and performs super human feats in some climatic moment in a later season.

I am happy you think this is a neat thing. I am actually very happy to see so many people think this is cool. Many people live with this everyday. Well, the thing that worries me is that it might be a really good show. What if it is entertaining and I should happen to start really likeing it. It is on NBC afterall so you never know if you should get interested in a show or not. It could be cancelled in the middle of a plot with no explaination. I guess all you can do is pays ya money and takes ya chance.

Realistically, I don't think this has a shot of competing against CSI: Miami and even Boston Legal. While Slater was once a big name, he's pretty much B-list star and I don't think this show will break the Monday at 10pm curse for NBC.

I lost interest in CSI: Miami several seasons ago and I never cared for Boston Legal. For me, it will be TNT's "Raising the Bar" I'll have to miss. However, since TNT repeats it at midnight and my cable company has it On Demand....looks like I don't have a problem.

WOW wow and wow simply wow, loved what they did with this , thank god it wasnt done cheaply or 2nd rate.
this show is what i pressument they tried to do with knight rider, but this show has exceeded the expetactions and i for one wouldnt take my eyes and ears from the show, i fact you could understand what was happening, i couldnt see anything to critic.
for a pilot show which is normall shoddy, badly scripted etc, they have certainly done a bang on job with this and i certainly hope this goes on for many seasons.
oh and nice biometric security touches.
"he detonated the bomb. Then he picked up a closed case. These things drive me crazy!"
simple to answer this.
throw a heavy case as hard as possible into the hair and you have a large % of possibility of the case shutting itself .
and its also possible with the lighter lid snapping back and slamming shut aswell.

And that brings up the question that since she is married to Henry if she prefers having sex with Edward isn't that like cheating? While it is one body they are clearly two different personalities, almost like twins only not. Kind of a philosophical kind of conundrum.

It was a great episode and did a great job of getting me hooked. As for competing against other shows like CSI: Miami and Boston Legal, never watched Boston Legal and if they'd drop Caruso from CSI: Miami, the show would probably skyrocket for popularity. Almost everyone I've ever discussed the show with dislikes him and his character. He's the easiest to imitate. Get some sunglasses, stand with a side profile when talking to someone, lower your head to look up like your looking over glasses, say "Murder", put on your sunglasses, and step off screen. BING! You are now Horatio.
Slater is a much, MUCH better actor. And he really did exceptional with the different aspects of Edward and Henry. I'm just hoping the NBC curse doesn't follow it and it's cancelled before it has a chance to take off like Journeyman.

Loved the show but...NBC scares me. I loved Journeyman too and invested all of my time in watching all of the shows and they snatched it off before I could blink. Do I invest time in Enemy with the possibility of that happening again? Journeyman had an audience. NBC just didnt bother to let them find the show and when we did--well..there it went. I love the premise of this show and I don't think anybody could play Edward/Henry better than Christian Slater. Here's hoping that it doesnt get snatched. I boycotted NBC because of Journeyman. I hope I don't get sucked in again.

Where is this show going to go though? They have already meet, send each other vids, work with each other. So the plot is for them to get to know each other, I liked it alot, but do not see a long term thing going here. Same thing is happening with the other show chuck it really doesn't develop much story. I guess I am looking for something where it shows them growing more or has some puzzle to unravel. Not seeing one here. Reading this it looks negative but thats not what I am trying to convey. I guees I am looking for something more like "life" is with the undertone of trying to figure out how he was setup kinda thing. anywys from 1-10, 10 being best I give it a 7. ps I watch most shows through hulu just so you know

I usually watch all my favorite shows on DVR (can't take those commercials anymore, especially with this political scene) but I know I will be watching this one live. yea, that is what everyone is thinking. And it is even a similar premise to Journeyman. But another way of looking at it is that NBC does go out on a limb for these risky but well written shows. NBC takes a chance on shows that are innovative: look at My name Is Earl, The Office, heroes. These are all really original. And ofcourse, my favorite, Chuck.
I hope this one makes it, because Slater is fantastic. I'll definitely tune in, especially since NBC brought back Chuck and Heroes just prior.

Quality Writing, Why I love this show
I just wanted to “Chime in” on My Own Worst Enemy before I lose the opportunity- most of my favorite shows are too intellectual or niche pull in network ratings.
This show Rocks!
I take my hat off to the writers for the exceptional characterization and storyline. Well done! Philip K. Dick would be proud of your presentation.
The viewer naturally gravitates to the Henry, the “good guy.” Edward, as cool as he is, is still a cold-blooded killer, no matter how noble his causes. The irony is that Henry is the false personality. Or is he? The speculation is half the fun.
While Henry’s memories of his distant past are completely contrived, and all his memories of his business trips were programmed, Henry has still existed on his own for 14 years between missions in his suburban American family setting. Decisions Henry makes comes from his core of false and real experiences. Henry exists.
Both Henry and Edward dislike each other and their continued interaction polarizes them further apart as they seek to differentiate themselves from the other. By the same token, since their continued survival depends on Henry being able to function in Edward’s world, and vice versa, they are both compelled to adapt to the other’s lifestyle. Hence the apropos title to the show.
Let's face it, we all have a dark side we're not happy with. But we have to learn to live with all of "ourselves." Henry/Edward are a metaphor for the current state of humanity- we project what we want other to see, and try to hide the rest.
Again, I have to come back to the great writing. The Sci-Fi show Battlestar Galactica has risen above it’s genre because of the outstanding writing. In Battlestar, robots and spaceships are so less important than what the show is really asking: “What does it mean to be human.”
By the same token, the quality of writing of My Own Worst Enemy has risen above the genre of tongue-in-cheek spy story to ask the more relevant question: “What does it mean to be me?”
All the while we are delightfully entertained by the action, plot twists and wonderful acting. Slater is brilliant.
I hope, someday, to be first in line to purchase the complete series box set of five (or more) seasons.

This show had potential but is turning into a formulaic piece of garbage. The premise is great, but instead of developing the theme of special agent and family man, we are now getting our chain jerked with a bunch of moronic, short attention span, how soon before the big secret is found out weekly doses of trash.
I was hoping for a "James Bond meets Ward Cleaver" type of show, where a super spy protects and defends our country from 9 to 5, and then goes home and uses his intelligence, strength of character, and savvy to be a good husband and father, and provide a special perspective on solving the problems he faces every day. Imagine the potential for rooting for this guy when you know he is putting his life on the line for all of us, and if he dies his family will be without a husband and father. This is a guy we could really get to know, like, and admire, and every time he engaged the bad guys, we would be on the edge of our seats cheering at his successes and mourning his failures. To me that is compelling.
Instead we get some story about a guy who is a sociopath from 9 to 5 and then a total wimp loser who cries boo hoo every time a terrorist stubs his toe. I don't need to watch a sociopath use and abuse people, and I see enough crybaby wimps every day of my life, I don't want to watch them either. That and we get the subtext of the evil government who kidnaps and tortures regular old software engineers and school teachers because it is fun, the power hungry lunatics who only care about killing people and have no morals or conscience, and all of the other tired old pentagon is evil and bad and bad and evil and guns are bad and spies are evil rotten killers and all of that woosification of the US sewage. Who would want to watch that crap?
I thought that this show was going to be NBC's version of "24" and Edward was going to be a stable, successful Jack Bauer without all of the baggage and self-loathing. That would have been something I could have gotten into, but instead I am going to take this show off of my DVR schedule and watch something else instead.

My husband and I watch this show and we have really enjoyed it. There isn't much that the two of us like, but this show was the exception. I think that NBC really needs to rethink their decision on cancelling this show. It is really good. I think that they could try a different time slot or give it another season to see what develops. I look forward to watching this every Monday. I can't stand how stations bring out all of these new shows all the time and then pull them. Why not put some more time into the shows you already have?? I am getting sick of the reality tv. I don't even watch any of the reality tv shows. This show was interesting because it kind of makes you wonder whether this could really happen, or if it is already out there??
I really think that instead of going through 10 shows a season, maybe stations should start putting more into the shows they have. Especially with the strike last season. All the shows got messed up, and some still are. People are still trying to adjust to the shows that they were watching before the strike and then were bombarded with so many new shows this season. This show is worth carrying on. I am sure that if NBC would take the time to let it run a whole season, they would find that it was worth it.
Can NBC please cancel the cancelling of MOWE???? Please???
