Not on 2008 schedule?!

NBC listed its 2008 fall returnees but Medium was not listed. Has anyone heard if it will be back? What a travesty it would be if it were cancelled (again).

Medium has been renewed for a 5th season and is currently scheduled to air on Sundays, 9-10 p.m. next winter 2009.

Therefore it's a bit early to be speculating on its cancellation.

Why is Dateline on instead of Medium? I have my VCR scheduled to record Medium on Mon 9-10pm in Tucson, KVOA-TV. Why can't I find it anymore? Will I find it if I record on Sat 10pm instead? Did they really only do about 5-6 shows and then cancel it until next year?

Also, my VCR cut off the end of the lady killer episode. How can I get to see it?

This thread is supposed to be for discussion of next season wink.gif ...nevertheless, to answer your questions:

The season finale aired on May 12. There were some Medium repeats airing on Saturdays, but those stopped on May 17. (Click here for the NBC showtime schedule for Medium.)

No, they didn't only do 6 shows, there were 16 episodes this season. Don't forget there was a writers strike which shortened many shows this season.

Unfortunately, NBC Rewind currently only has the final two episodes (#15 Being Joey Carmichael, and #16 Drowned World) for viewing. You might want to check them out now, as full episodes are not available on the site forever.

Did NBC cancel this show?, I am new to the board.

Hello everyone.
I just signed to the board today after google the Medium NBC show and check the NBC web site several times. I am a big fan and have been checking the TV schedule every week for the next episode. I saw the episodes in April and few in May. What happened? The Medium has been cancelled or it will return during fall? Please let me know sad.gif . Thank you
franchisca
I agree. I keep looking for it in the TV guide and can't find it. Why doesn't the Medium website provide this information? I'm new to this blog, so I apologize if someone has already provided an answer to the question. If already answered, please let me know. Thanks!

To answer the question, Medium is scheduled to return Winter 2009. smile.gif

Many thanks, Idallia but it would be very nice/polite if NBC could post the info on the Medium web site including the dates for the next season. NBC should let us know why the public was not advised about the changes. I have several friends wondering about this show. it is quite sad - it just vanished and without any clues... Remenber we are not mediums:-)
best,
Katia

I have a novel idea! Why not give us a break from Deal or no Deal for one night, and give us Medium now!!! mad.gif

Anybody else enjoy seeing Ghostwhisperer on Friday night an Medium on Monday night?? happy.gif
televisionaddict
I love Medium and Ghost Whisperer, regardless of what night they are aired. As long as they don't get canceled for some bizarre reason. Of course, I have DVR and can record and watch whenever I want. biggrin.gif

Why is NBC waiting so long to bring back Medium? We have to wait another year and a half to see new episodes?? Well, I'm going to hope a bunch of their new shows crash and burn so that they will bring back Medium earlier like they did last time. I wish they would treat this show better. It sounds like it has a big fan base. Come on NBC, wake up!

A year and a half? (18 months), that's a bit of an exaggeration, don't you think? It'll be back after about 8 months off the air (season finale was in May 2008).

Shows like Heroes will have been off the air for nearly 10 months by the time it starts back up again in late September.

Exact dates have not been announced yet, but based on this year's premiere date, I would guess January 2009.

It was announced recently that Blythe Danner will be making a guest appearance as Sarah Leaming, a local councilman's wife and mother to a missing private nurse, whose extraordinary dedication to her chronically-ill step-daughter's care led to some unconventional measures

Why are they making us wait so long to bring it back. By doing this they may lose watchers and I don't want that to happen as I don't want it cancled. This is one of my top 5 shows to watch. I hope that they bring it back earlier, PLEASE!

Well at least Medium is coming back. I wish it would start sooner but coming back period is all I was worried about. Maybe it will start sooner if one of their new shows flops. One always does, or 2 or 3. laugh.gif I thought it did start earlier last year or the year before that. My memory is horrible though.

NBC made an early announcement regarding its 2008-09 season and with the ratings improvement Medium demonstrated in its fourth season after returning to Mondays, it was one of the first series to be renewed in an announcement released by the studio on April 2, 2008.

As of the press release, Medium will air Sundays at 9 p.m. EST beginning in early 2009. They are anticipating the same start moth as this past season, January 2008, wuth the new season being January 2009
tapper3838
I tried to do this before, but lost my reply, so I'll try it again. Why are they putting Medium on Sunday nights???? It did so well on Mondays and on Wednesdays - why on Sunday. It will be up against Desperate Housewives and that will hurt the show's ratings. Sorry, but DH has a big following too. Keep it during the week!!!! Obviously I'll tape either DH or Medium cuz I love them both.

To all of you people out there,...."Haven't you heard of a DVR or NBC on Demand?"
They can put any show on anytime as they try to compete them,...but a DVR allows me to see them all! So you see NBC, we will see you anytime!
C'mon NBC!!, That's not nice to be too greedy now about the illegal download sites,..."or are they?"
Commercial Radio and Television,....hence "Commercial", made it possible to see these shows on air or cable for free,..."Why should it be taxed now?" The Metallica vs. Napster Controversy about Music Downloads was a failure because Metallica bit off the hand that was feeding them. It was a sure sign of greed. Have you ever heard of anyone searching the internet to download a commercial they wanted to see? unless it was very funny,...(Hint Hint), to all you commercial makers out there. To NBC, Writers, Producers, Actors that brought the "Duboi" family to life,..."how could you not miss them?" Hey it's Show " ",...What?,....It's obvious that with Media, Business and pleasure do mix together and the new releases is where your gonna get your ticket. Hasn't anyone at NBC seen the show? Hear, Hear !,....To Medium Season 5,....Bring it on!
Lily1
first off, Mondays are really competitive now. Medium would definitely lose ratings. Chuck, Sara Conners Chronicles, Gossip Girl, not to mention Monday Night Football and never ending news coverage of the elections are all competing w/ reality tv. Medium producers were smart to wait until the dust settles from fall season. When the elections and football season are past and schedules are resolved, Medium will go back to the faithful audience it has always enjoyed.
I am a Medium fan from it's very begining when it was still a very controversial show. For now, I am really enjoying the Chuck/Heroes/My Own Worst Enemy block on Monday nights. Check em out! (especially Chuck, which is a really great show!)
And don't worry, I really believe Medium is being saved from the present ratings war where, yes, lots of shows are getting the axe. Keep the faith!

biggrin.gif 'Medium' back sooner than expected
Thursday, October 16 2008, 11:06 BST

By Simon Reynolds, Entertainment Reporter

NBC has ordered an extra three scripts for Medium as it plans to shift the season premiere for the Patricia Arquette psychic drama.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the midseason show may make a return to screens earlier than expected, with NBC telling the production to have episodes ready for broadcast before the end of the year.

The Glenn Gordon Caron-created series revolves around Allison DuBois (Arquette), a psychic who uses her abilities to aid the district attorney's office in Phoenix, Arizona.

Medium's fifth season was originally scheduled to debut in January next year.

So has anyone come up with any good information as to why the show has been delayed for so long? Aren't shows supposed to come back in the Fall? So, did the actors just decide they all wanted an extended break or is this some sort of contract negotiation ploy? I'd really like to know why it takes 8 months to get a show back on the air and why NBC hasn't updated the show's site with any relevant information about the return schedule.

I really like the show but, waiting 8 months is a bit much.

The top of the page says Mondays because that's the day it was on last season. I don't think anyone but NBC knows when Medium will be on yet (maybe they don't know yet either ). The last "official" date came out quite a while ago (WOW, make that EIGHT MONTHS ago, just checked), so who knows, maybe it'll be Mondays again, instead of Sunday!
