04/22/2008 (10:00PM - 10:59PM) (Tuesday) : THE MURDER OF AN INVESTMENT BANKER UNCOVERS A HIDDEN AFFAIR WITH A PRO FOOTBALL QUARTERBACK AND PUTS DETECTIVE OLIVIA BENSON'S (MARISKA HARGITAY) JOB IN JEOPARDY.
When money manager Jeremy Grandon is found murdered in his loft, detectives Benson and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) initially suspect troubled teenager, Freddie Ramirez (guest star David Del Rio). A hidden video camera leads the detectives to the victims secret lover, Lincoln Morse (guest star Bailey Chase), a star-studded pro- football player whose agent, Gary Lesley (guest star Rick Hoffman), may go too far in protecting his client's persona. Morse's history of memory loss brings defense attorney Rebecca Balthus (guest star Beverly D'Angelo) into the case, while Detective Benson finally finds a boyfriend, Kurt Foss (guest star Bill Pullman), an editor at the Ledger who unfortunately clashes with her detective work. Also starring: Adam Beach, Dann Florek, Ice-T, Diane Neal, Tamara Tunie, Richard Belzer, and BD Wong.

I knew this new boyfriend of Liv's was going to get her into trouble. And let's face it, she doesnt exactly have a good track record with reporters anyway. Should we start naming off episodes?

Lol, yeah... when I heard that he was a reporter I thought of Nick from 'Contact' straight away.
Only I think that she'll somehow compromise herself to a certain extent, and then withdraw from the relationship when she feels the potent power of its ability to carry her away from her true 'calling'.
I can imagine her being very 'torn', but not wanting to put her job in jeopardy, and she's identified through her role as the SVU detective. I don't believe that they could ever pull Liv away from her duties and the onus that she feels, without someone jeopardizing the integrity of the show, or losing her to it, so they definitely wont let this relationship take over. It'll probably end up being a 'side'-thing and I predict that it'll 'go away', unless she can somehow integrate the two, and unless this reporter doesn't interfere or pose a threat.

Hopefully he's on her page, and she can maintain a balance of the two, but sadly I doubt it. And that makes me sad 'cause if Liv can't be my lover I want her to have a nice man who turns her on and brings her great pleasure. lol. Would be a nice dynamic to add, and I'm kind of bored of her being single.

I am so upset that my TiVo cut off the last minute of preview for next episode. Usually when this happens I just come here and find the preview in the videos. What scenes caught everyone's special interest?

Australia's a great little country, but I don't get the SVU delay. It's putting me off.

Anyone else care to speculate on how serious this new relationship is...TV guide mentioned that Olivia thinks that by getting married she'll be able to adopt and have a child. Does that mean there may be a ring on her finger? Of course, even if there was, I don't think it will last.

I think that the relationship will end up drumming home the fact that Olivia sacrifices personal gratification for her role as SVU detective.
It will only go as far as she can maintain the relationship without jeopardizing her job.
The episode promo does show that 'love' will get in the way, but I'm sure that she'll learn from her 'mistake', and will continue to deprive herself of that aspect of her life.

I am not sure if she should deprive herself of a relationship. I think, speaking as a shipper, that this will be good for Liv and El. I mean Liv steps outside of the box and has a real boyfriend and El is forced to watch all of this go down. From what I can remember, El is forced to watch, w/ a frown, Liv and that guy kiss. Now hopefully he confronts her about it and leads her to think that her wants her. Sorry I am running my mouth. LOL! I think that I am up to something. I should find some where to post this.

I can't believe she's dating another reporter, she just can't seem to get a "normal" guy can she? I feel really bad though that she can't keep a relationship with a decent guy, but dating a reporter is way off the margin. I just hope one day she can get a normal guy, a guy who cares for her and respects her, and doesn't care what he job is, and doesn't try to get a story from her for the papers. I can't wait to see this episode though, it looks really good. Is it just me or is every episode is better than the one before it. I wish they would put season 7 out on dvd, I watched season 6 on dvd in like a day, so I'm ready for season 7 now.

Oh no....not another reporter making the moves on to one of our favorite Heroines. Heaven forbid.

First ...it was Jordan on "Crossing Jordan". What did it get Jordan. A dead reporter boyfriend and people thinking she was a murderer.

Now our beloved Det. Olivia Benson getting hooked up with a reporter/editor? What is it with writers for NBC shows and their desire to hook up female detectives or crime fighting coroners with reporters?

Okay so i just sat and watched Law and Order SVU (Closet). Olivia boyfriend causing problems..gee what luck...anyway thought it was really good felt that it showed more of a connection between Elliott and Olivia because he backed her play as always. Awsome eposide !

Not as good as last week, but as a shipper, I was pretty satisfied. That funny silence after Liv's bf asked her why she wouldn't move in with him was interesting. I wish we could've know what she was thinking with that. ;-)
Anyway, SVU is wonderful, so yay!

Did anyone else think this was a waste of Bill Pullman and his time? What did he have, two minutes in the whole episode? No explanation where he came from or why he disappeared, after sort of hyping this "shocking revelation" that Liv had a boyfriend. (Speaking of that, I laughed a little bit when she said to the IA guy, "He's my BOYFRIEND." Was like watching a teenager talking to her dad. )

Anyway, why not do something with Pullman other than minimize him to a conveniently-placed prop, hardly a character at all? He was just there to set up a superhero moment for Elliot--he really didn't have anything critical to do with the story or with Benson at all. So is that really it? Is he gone forever? Why did they bother even casting the part? For what we saw of this guy, they could've wrapped up the whole fleeting boyfriend thing with a passing bit of dialogue. Seems like Bill Pullman deserved more than a barely noticeable cameo.

I would have to agree. I was reading TV Guide and everything was about casting Olivia's boyfriend. I thought it was a great episode but if you blinked you missed Bill Pullmans role. Overall it was another great episode (love love love this show) but i was expecting a lot more concerning Olivia's boyfriend. Guess we'll have to wait and see... Still rooting for Olivia and Elliot though!

Let me just say great episode, but I was disappointed in the casting of Bill as Olivia's boyfriend. Honestly, I think they could have done alot better, it would have been great to see that FBI agent guy from the "Infiltrated", "Florida", and "Screwed" episodes. I keep forgeting his name.

Yes, Bill Pullman only had maybe 3 minutes in the entire episode, but I didn't mind. If ever Olivia finds a permanent boyfriend that ISN'T Elliot, I'd hope they'd find someone hotter than the likes of Bill Pullman.

Don't get me wrong here, I love Liv- and Mariska plays her brilliantly, but I don't think it's that simple.

I don't think it's simply that the deprives herself of personal gratification to be a Detective. I think it's more that Liv's entire existence revolves around working Special Crimes.

Let's face it, she and Elliot have been partners longer than most Detectives work the SVU. (Can't remember which epi made that comment, but it was a year or two ago?)

I don't think she's ever taken a vacation- unless you count that stint with the feds.

Basically, the only people who really understand her are Elliot, Finn and Munch. Unfortunately, El is in love with his wife (proven by the fact that, even after the fighting and seperation, he fought to get back with her), Finn is not even close to her type (great guy, but those two would be like fire and ice), and Munch is...well...Munch.

She's had several relationships- and they all ended badly. Primarily because she can't seperate herself from her work.

I have a question that a friend and I are discussing. At the end of the episode when the Tamara Tunie character asked her if she'd been raped in the prison and Liv said "It's the closest I've come"..........wasn't her character raped years ago? I knew Liv's mother had been raped and Liv is the product of that rape, but wasn't Liv also raped?

I missed this episode. But I wanna know is the reporter around to stay?? Thats what I reakky wanna know.

No, it's never been established that Liv was raped, only that she was the product of her mothers rape.

I was happy that the Moss character wasn't a complete jerk, he really cares about Benson and he came through for her in the end. The twist in the end was fitting I hated that agent, what a spaz!

Does anyone know anything about the actress who played Natasha Gorsky, the model girlfriend of the football player? I have never seen her in anything else, but she was so natural and beautiful. What a wonderful actress with a promising future.
