I would imagine the meals are very good especially at that price, but you can do other meal plans from other companies for a lot less than 19.95 per day. That's expensive!

It's only for one person, right? That's a lot of money, especially if you have a family to feed too. For $19.95 will they clean house too?

Sadly, there are people who will do it. We have seen plenty of people come to this forum with the mind set that the only way they can lose weight is if they go on the show. They feel that with out The Biggest Loser branded all over them that it is hopeless. Very sad. Why do you need some one else to plan your meals for you? If your on this site it means you have internet access. And if you have internet access all the information you need to plan is out there for you. The only excuse any of us have for not being able to plan our own meals is being lazy.

I laughed as soon as Ali mentioned the prize for the challenge winner.. A new plug! A new BL product.. I wonder who gets all the profits from the books, dvd's, club and now this?
They didn't get excited until it was mentioned and oh yeah, $10K...
Not sure if I liked the supposed advantage that Mark (or anyone else) would get by having the meals.. Since the goal has always been to send the finalists home to do it on their own.

No thank you. With shipping it's about $125 a week, I can spend a lot less than that buying my groceries, for one person, a week.
I looked at a sample meal plan and I can find low fat recipes for most of the meals, cook them at home and know what ingredients I'm putting into them. I've tried something like this before and the food was OK but not as good as a home cooked meal.
Like a lot of people this is not my first time trying to lose weight, before I would have jumped at an offer like this or I would have gone to the grocery store and stocked up on frozen meals full of preservatives. This time around I'm trying to really be aware of what I'm eating and the effects it will have on my body in the long run. It's a little harder but I know for me it's the right thing.

It sounds pricey. but overall it's cheaper than Nutrisystem (when you factor in the cost of all the extra foods you have to buy.) I tried NS for a while and the food was good, but digestively it did not agree with me...I took a look at the BL food thing, and I couldn't find any place where the foods are specified, and ingredients listed. For people with food allergies, knowing that is crucial.
Not everyone is a terrific cook. Meal plans help those who curl up in a crying ball on the kitchen floor... some people use them to jump start their weight loss and to get used to smaller portions. I'm all for whatever works for an individual. But I do wish they had listed the menus and ingredients...

I bought a cook book..its a low calorie book with tons of great tasting ideas and it has the ingredinets you need, the calorie count, the fat count and everything...tonite I made stuffed peppers.....
12 oz of extra lean ground beef, 1/2 cup of BROWN rice, 2 small tomoatos, 1/2 cup onion, pepper,a pinch of salt..3 small green peppers, 1 cup of water, some oregono to taste
brown the meat...and onions till soft.......add the salt and pepper, add the water and rice to the meat...
cover and simmer till rice is tender, add the tomatoes, oregono...
in the mean time in boiling water put the bell peppers in for about 3-5 min
put peppers in a cooking pan...fill with the meat mixure add any remaining meat to the pan
bake for 15-20 min
top with a pinch of chedder or jack let it melt and serve with a nice salad...
yummmy and only around 300 calories...(minus the salad and what ever dressing you use for that)

I am 100% against pre packaged foods. Anything in a "box" is salt heavy. They don't teach you how to cook or how to pre plan. All these meals and meal plans follow the same formula. In fact I will give it to you for free. BTW I know it works, I lost over 90 pounds doing this although you have to "work" at it:
Breakfast:
2 to 3 oz Protein (Chicken, Turkey, Egg Whites)
1/2 Cup Carb (Oatmeal, Cream of Weat, Rice, Potato)
Snack
2 to 3 oz Protein
1/2 cup fruit
Lunch
2 to 3 oz Protein
1/2 cup carb
1 cup veggies
Snack
2 to 3 oz protein
1/2 cup fruit
Dinner
2 to 3 oz Protein
1/2 cup carb
1 cup veggies
Before bed
Any low carb slow burning GI indexed food. Think Peanut Butter, cottage cheese, protein shakes, and the like.
As you can see the combinations could be limitless. Stay away from anything frozen or prepackage that includes your meats. No deli meats either. Stay away from canned tuna in favor of fresh. Fruits like strawberries, grapefruit, blueberries, and bananas are the best. Brown rice is better then white. Avoid breads at first. Excerise at least 40 minutes 4 times a week or more. There. Now you all owe me $500.

Wow, $125 a week! I spend like $30 a week, depending on if I want vegetables with my Raman noodles. Yay college.
Actually, I find that I can eat healthy on about $30 a week. I eat things like ground turkey with frozen veggies and Ezekiel bread and oat meal. I don't think you need to be a good cook to cook good. That's grammatically incorrect, but it sounds nice.

I'm sure many will love it and many will use it.
I sure don't have the cash for something like that.
I'd rather learn how to create our favorite meals in a healthy way and learn to cook new/healthy foods than eat a frozen dinner.
If I had money to splurge, I'd much rather join the Y or a gym.

Sometimes I believe people "need" the prepackaged meal plans to lose weight because maybe they have problems with portions, choosing the right foods, or just simply want to stay out of the grocery store. Kudos to them if the meals are satisfying, taste good, and work. I met a person on here yesterday that is starting Nutrisystem on Monday. I wish him all the best of luck and I sincerely hope it works for him.
As for me, I can't do the prepackaged meals. I enjoy being in the kitchen too much creating my own meals. I enjoy cooking fresh vegetables, selecting my meats at the grocery store, and collecting recipes.

I registered just so I could reply here. I looked at the meal plan and the first thing I saw was breakfast - a sugar free doughtnut. You have to be kidding me! I am truly appalled. Do not think this is a thin person making judgement. I have taken off 60 lbs and still have a few more to go and I can promise you, I have not changed my life by eating a donut for breakfast - sugar free or otherwise. This cannot be how they expect people to make healthy changes. I think the folks from The Biggest Loser really need to rethink this one.

If people plan and prepare their meals wisely, they can create a similar menu to the BL's meal plan. The best time is fixing the meals on weekends and then freezing them for the rest of the week. Not all foods, but lunch and dinner.

Impressions so far: I haven't even gotten the food yet and i'm already frustrated.
I ordered the meal plan on the 16th as I'm not fond of cooking, and figured it would be nice to have the convenience of premade, premeasured meals.
They ship on Monday. They also provide no tracking order for your package.
Customer service is the only phone number that can supposedly track packages. The telephone number on their website is for ordering, not customer service though it states under "contact us" as the customer service number. When you contact that number, you are told they are not customer service and then transferred to another unknown number. The hours of operation for their customer service is 8-5 M-F EST. This is great unless you work for a living.
Today I attempted to contact them as my package has not arrived yet, and I have Friday's off with my schedule. I started trying to call this morning when I woke up. I have not managed to get ahold of anyone in customer service. You are directed to leave a message for them to contact you back, and then no one calls back.
I don't know if they are working out the glitches in their setup, but so far they are not winning any converts.

Did they give an arrival date? Nine days is not long at all when ordering...well except Amazon. You need to give it a little more time. As for customer service, one would believe that part would be ironed out before the first order was placed. Sorry to hear about that.
I'm so glad someone here has ordered their meal plan!! Please let us know the results of the meals.
I think they are great for someone on the go and love to have the convenience!!

From what I can see, these are actually
Bistro MD meals with TBL labeling. They don't make processed, packaged Nutrisystem type food. They meals are pre-made, using real ingredients. For someone who can't/won't/doesn't have time to cook and has the income, it's a good option. I think in conjunction with a weight loss plan, it could work well. I think the greatest benefit is using the program temporarily to get through a busy period. Like, around the holidays it would be a nice idea because meal planning and prep is simply One. More. Thing. To. Do.

Food finally came in on Friday, they had lost my first shipment. Customer service was very apolegetic and credited me for another shipment. They are in growing pains as there was a lot more demand than expected. So here's my review so far....
Snacks: I put in for the snacks upgrade. I probably won't next time, as most of their snacks are soy based and I'm not so overly fond of the fake food..the snacks are a lot of protein bars, soy chips and soy protein shakes from what I can see so far. Taste is ok if you like that kind of thing.
Breakfast: the pastries taste good, but you are definitely ready for your snack by the time it rolls around. portion sizes are small on breakfast.
Lunch: Lunch is great. Lot of vegetables and protein. The flavor is good, the vegetables are crisp and the portion size is about 13 ounces so you don't feel hungry. I had several of my lean cuisine eating coworkers eyeing my plate hungrily.
Dinner: Same for dinner. Lots of veggies and protein and carbs. Good vegetables. The meat is good as well.
For those interested, here are the nutrition breakdowns for the first day( had to guess on one of the snacks so *think* this is accurate)
Calories: 1450
protein: 119g
carb: 164g
fat: 35g
cholesterol: 285mg
sodium:1450mg
fiber: 23g
saturated fat: 7g
calcium: 250mg
Calorie ratios: 33% protein, 45 % carb 22%total fat.

I went and looked at the menu...and Im sorry but I must agree........I know not everyone can cook like this or has the time to do so.....but everything on it can be bought at any store for much less then what there asking for.....most of those meals can be made in 30 min or less, so time not a big issue I dont think. And will much fresher and better tasting in my opinion , then it being packages up probaly days before hand and then shipped to you.......
Again only my opinion so no ofense to anyone that has done this....

The sodium level is fine. For those with liver, heart, or kidney disease or hypertension, the recommended daily intake of sodium is 2000 milligrams (mg) or less. The average American eats between 4000 and 6000 mg's a day. As I work out as well, I don't want too little sodium, or I would be subject to dehydration in my workouts.
I do know it is more expensive than shopping for my food each week. I am paying for the convenience of not having to worry about my food balance or preparation. It also reduces my urge to snack when I'm avoiding the kitchen except for the brief preparation time of my meals.
In regards to the question on recommendations, I would recommend the meals, I would not recommend the snacks. :>

I'm the only one on it. I would love my husband to be on it as well as he needs to lose weight and doesn't make good choices when I'm not around, but he is too picky of an eater. (he won't even eat fruit!!!) He is going to have to find what works for him. I provide a motivation for him to work out in the evenings and to eat well at least while I'm around.
