Do they ever film outside of the US?

Peachy, please correct me if I'm totally off base. This is something discussed years ago at a workshop I attended that was given by the NJ State Film Bureau and concerned such shows as SVU and Rescue Me which have production offices in north Jersey.

Filming the show has costs that increase when they shoot on location. On location shots need the same people that would be found in a studio (cameramen/women, electricians, sound engineers, technicians...) but they need to be transported to those areas. Shooting outside of the city means that if the location can't supply talented people with these skills, those technicians would need to be transported. Paying people hourly wages means that transportation to and from location adds to cost out of pocket and that adds up. The technical unions actually have distance rates included in their contracts with production companies indicating how far their people can be expected to have to drive to work before the unions will require added monies be paid out.

Shooting outside of the country would just make those costs even higher.

Because Vancouver has such a rich and varied look and the surrounding countryside is so very different, it is used quite often for many US shows. It's close to the States, it has a large talent pool of technicians and it can stand in for so many different types of locales, although one episode of the X-Files that was supposedly taking place in the Pine Barrens was too mountainous to pass for a part of the state that is essentially a marshy floodplain ten to twenty feet above sea level, but I'm just picky.

Location shoot pictures are not that common.

Is there anyway to find out when LOCI is filming (and where)? I realize you have a place on this website for where they are shooting, but we would like to know a couple of weeks in advance, if that is possible. One of my friends and I would like to come out to New York, but we wanted to watch them film LOCI, with Vincent, Eric and Kate.

I read somewhere that they take off for a couple of month for Christmas, I don't know if this is true. If so, when do they start filming again?

Sorry. There's no way I know of to learn shoot locations that far in advance.
