The office makes many stereotypes involving gender and race. Do you think the office portrays these stereotypes in a positive way by making fun or a negative way? What is the demeanor? What do you think?

Well I think it doesn't have that I think it is a hilarious show with awesome people.

It's all gooooood. smile.gif

By having almost all the stereotypes come from Michael, the writers reinforce the absurdity of them, while demonstrating that you CAN have fun with them (e.g. Darryl helping Michael with interracial communication or maintaining gang discipline, the cleaning staff happening to only speak Spanish, etc), without having to tiptoe around like ninjas on rice paper, fearful of offending anyone ph34r.gif ... ok, mixed metaphor, I know, but "ninjas" fits TO better than "Caine from Kung Fu". blush.gif

I've never really worried about the stereotypes that are on the show until Season 4, when Jim for some reason has started deploying some of them, and not really in a parodic way...Still, it would be like saying that Blazing Saddles is racist, when clearly the point of the movie is anything but that.

What gets me more were the glaring inaccuracies about Ben Franklin from that episode of the show. Franklin did not have syphilis, he didn't conceal his illegitimate son from his wife Deborah (in fact, she raised him along with their children that they had together), and his affairs with French ladies were not a gray area of his life--they're out there in histories that you can read.
