Your Australian Adventure
An opportunity to travel like the Biggest Losers

The folks at Tourism New South Wales and Down Under Answers Travel are offering a specialized travel adventure for fans of The Biggest Loser, modeled after the experience of cast members that aired just weeks ago on the show. Here's the information they passed along to us:

The Biggest Loser Sydney Adventure Vacation will keep you going with action, excitement and unique experiences. Upon arrival on Qantas Airways, you'll be met and transferred via shuttle to your central Sydney hotel: The Menzies Hotel Sydney, where you'll stay for six nights. You'll have plenty of time to explore Sydney on foot, keeping active and enjoying this beautiful harbor city. The Menzies Sydney is an icon of time-honored tradition right near the historic Rocks area, Royal Botanic Gardens, and Sydney Opera House. The indoor swimming pool, spa, sauna and gymnasium provide you with that early morning workout you'll need to discover Sydney. The Menzies Sydney is positioned so you can easily experience all the attractions that Sydney has to offer. Included in your Sydney Adventure is a three-hour BridgeClimb experience. You'll travel over ladders, up catwalks, and steadily climb to the summit of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Experience the satisfaction of climbing to the top of the bridge, and then be wowed by the incredible views of the Sydney Opera House and the city surroundings.

On one day you'll have the choice between a classic Sydney tour by bicycle with an experienced guide, or perhaps a surf lesson at Sydney's famous Bondi Beach. Either way you are sure to get your adrenalin pumping!

With Bonza Bike tours, you travel with area experts as you cruise through Sydney on your bicycle with a group of other like-minded bikers. Highlights of your bike ride include the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Darling Harbour, the Royal Botanic Gardens (including the Flying Foxes), Sydney Tower, Parliament House, Queen Victoria Building, Museum of Contemporary Art, Art Gallery of NSW, and more than 30 more attractions! If you choose the surfing option, you get a beginner's introduction to surfing and get to stand up and catch a wave. With just six others in each group, you are guaranteed personal instruction and plenty of hands-on help.

You'll also burn calories as you shop for your new wardrobe throughout Sydney's boutiques and malls, visit the sites like the historic Rocks area with its Saturday markets, or just strolling through the Botanic Gardens before choosing a seafood restaurant along the waterfront in Darling Harbour. (A list of restaurants will be provided to keep you above the yellow line!). For booking info: click here. Or call: (800) 788-6685. For info on Sydney go to Sydney.com.

The sad thing is that there are people who will jump at the advertisement and they have not even explored their own neck of the woods. I have lived in Virginia, just outside of DC, for eight years, and despite trying to do at least one new thing at least once a month I still have not run out of new trails to hike, paths to bike, museums to see, and historic places to visit. I think seeing the world is phenomenal, but before you go to Sydney for shopping and burning calories why not explore the treasures near you?
