From NBC Universal Media Village
Blu Cantrell
Celebrity Contestant
Celebrity Circus
Wednesdays on NBC (9-10 p.m. ET) beginning June 18;
Series Premiere: June 11 (9:30-11 p.m. ET)
Blu Cantrell is currently a celebrity contestant on NBC’s daring new reality show “Celebrity Circus.”
Blu Cantrell (born Tiffany Cobb in Providence, R.I.) is an American Grammy Award-nominated R&B and soul singer. Cantrell was born into a family of jazz enthusiasts from Providence. She and her five siblings were born to a Caucasian American mother who is a jazz singer and an African American father who was an NBA basketball player. She was raised by her mother in Atlanta, Ga.
After making several demo recordings, Cantrell was discovered by Red Zone Entertainment heads Tab and Laney Stewart in early 2000. The producers promptly placed her with Antonio "L.A." Reid who offered the singer a contract with his label, Arista Records, after a successful audition. Cantrell then went straight into recording sessions with Dallas Austin, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, while singing backup for artists such as Puff Daddy.
In 2001, Cantrell released her debut album, So Blu, which eventually was certified platinum. The album saw major success when it peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, eventually selling over 800,000 copies in the United States. The album featured the hit single "Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)," which peaked at #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and earned Cantrell a Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, as well as an American Music Awards nomination. The album also showcases her ability to go into the whistle register with the song "Waste My Time."
In 2003, Cantrell released her second album, Bittersweet, which earned Cantrell a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album and entered the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at #8. The album spawned two hit singles, "Breathe," a collaboration with Sean Paul, and "Make Me Wanna Scream." "Breathe" peaked at number one for four weeks in the UK and eventually became one of the most successful singles of the year in both Europe and Australia. Also in 2005, "Hit 'em Up Style: Chart and Club Hits," a compilation/remix album containing Cantrell's two biggest hits, tracks and some remixes from the former two albums, was released. Most recently, Cantrell has been working on her yet-to-be-titled third album, scheduled for a 2008 release.

I'm sure glad to see everyone else saw the same thing I did. She was lazy

, did nothing but get spun in circles while tied to a rope. Then gave nothing but attitude!!!

Is she for real? I hope she goes back and watches the show and sees how poor her performance was, and how terribly she behaved. Send her home!

I hate Blu Cantrell. She is a one hit wonder and she also proved how classless and rude she was tonight. I liked the show but if she doesnt get voted off I wont watch the show again until she does. She is so annoying to watch and if NBC knows whats good for them they will boot her off.

Ok, ok, ok...so being a little critical of performances is one thing, but
actors are people too. Whether you think their performances were good or
bad, feel free to talk about it. But please do so as if you were talking to
the actor face to face. You need to treat the celebrities (scripted or
reality) the way you'd treat any other users on the boards. Moderators will
delete any messages that are considered flames to actors or other users.

If a "contestant" is going to trash talk and behave as poorly as she did, then they should expect severe criticism of their behavior. When she's on next week, I'll click away.
She should never have been cast on the show - the others worked harder and rose to the challenge, and without the attitude.
If the thought police can't handle it, they should take a look at the reviews - I expect they'll engage in some serious "actor bashing". Going to censor them as well?

BOO!!!!! to Blu Cantrell.......not only was her performance lame, but her attitude was even worse. This is someone who clearly can't take constructive criticism. Her response to the judge was so classless and ghetto that it really exemplified her nasty character. This show doesn't need a spoiled celebrity like Blu acting like a 5 year old and trash talking the professional judges...shame on her.

Constructive criticism is fine, offensive language and name-calling is not, that is why the reminder was posted.

Wow, she was so rude. And I would totally say this to her face. She is rude, classless, and lazy. If she had broken an arm or a rib she probably would have quit. All of the other contestants have tremendous motivation. That is why they are all so successful. Where as Blu is lazy. That's why she's a one hit wonder. If she had the focus that the others have I probably would have heard of her before this show.

Blu Cantrell is an amazing live singer, and to see her do that was amazing! she looked stunning on the Spanish Web, very graceful.
the judges however where awful. why can't they have English speaking judges? the woman judge was fool of herself doing that stupid move in front of Blu, she deserved to be slapped.
i hope to see a lot more from Blu and hope she doesn't get voted off, i know she has a lot more to give and is a lovely person. good luck Blu!

I was totally underwhelmed by her performance too. YAWN. I think the most impressive of the night was Chris Knight. I hope Blu goes Bye-Bye

Mmmm, speaking perfect English with an accent is not accepted in the multilingual and multicultural America?

Whew. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed Blu's lack of real interest in training.
The Spanish Web is one of my favorites to watch. I may be spoiled by Cirque du Soleil, but I really expected more than someone being twirled around by her hand and arm. Everything else was done for her - Ascent, descent. I was so unimpressed with her I turned to watching the two she'd been paired with.
I could understand being nauseous from being upside down and twirling. But combined with her general attitude during training; saying that if her body tells her it's too tired, she's laying down (the guy in charge even commented on that, and his comments about the other contestants were spot on); her unimpressive performance; and her getting mouthy with the judges when they gave her more points than what I thought she rightfully deserved...
I'm just concerned that her fans are going to vote for her due to her performances OFF of the show, rather than her performance on the show, resulting in booting off one of the other contestants who gave a super effort.

Sorry, I need to add this and call a spade a spade. Blue was pretty bad. How about the one judge calling her a Diva. She is a Diva. Kind of sad though to be a music Diva with one song to her credit. In the spirit of Joey Fatone. Bye Bye....Blue

Sorry if this is bashing, but I need to vent.
The one contestant I thought was treated unfairly was Chris. He truly was underscored. But he stayed classy.
Blu should take a page from his book. For that matter, she should take a page from all the others' books, because they were all classy and all worked hard.
Yeah, Wee Man had attitude too, but it was delivered in a good-humoured, playful spirit AND he had ability and hard work to back it up. Blu's 'tude was whiney and utterly unjustified.
As for bringing mystery to the show, there is nothing mysterious about being loud, brash, lazy, self-absorbed, and rude.
I don't know about sex appeal or its importance to the merits of the performances, but I think that Stacey and Rachel are the reigning female beauties on this show and Blu's got nothing to challenge either of them on that score either.
Blu's comment to Aurelia was stupid too. "If I had trained for 18 years, I'd be better than you." Yeah, and if wishes were horses, then beggars would ride. Blu, don't let your mouth write cheques your tail can't honour. It wasn't Aurelia who looked like a toadstool after you made that comment.
MAN I hope Blu is gone next week! The rest of the celebrities were, without exception, a joy.

I enjoyed watching Celebrity Circus, for the most part everyone did a remarkable job. I was however quite shocked to see how Blu Cantrell acted in front of the judges. Watching her attitude was laughable when the judges were trying to give her constructive criticism. After watching other circus performers perform on the same web act she did I was pretty disappointed in the job she did. She never climbed up or down on the rope herself, basically all she did was hold on and look cute.
I wouldn't imagine that she will last long on the show especially after the camera showed her laying down and not taking the practice time serious.
Good Luck to all the actors who took the practice serious and worked hard at it!

I really enjoyed the show, but I was disappointed in Blu. When they showed her before the performance and she was not working very hard. I was thinking that she was just joking around and she would be great. NO... she was not great. You can tell she just wanted to do what she had to do to get by. Only doing as little as possible. NOT GOOD at all.... it shows.... There is always one in every group. The others worked harder then her, so she should be voted off first.

Very poor attitude - bad or good performance withstanding. What a bad example for young children to see. A grown woman throwing a temper tantrum because of a little criticism. You can tell she waited all week long to come up with those lame lines. We need a better example to set for our children. This is NOT acceptable.

Whew! Thank God Blu was kicked off the show weeks ago, not only did she have crap for attitude which was very poor indeed for a lot of young kids to witness (hopefully not emulate), but she was terrible in the performance. Glad she left quickly.
Tonight seeing her again, in what was possibly her "challange" to Aurelia, I'd have to give her low scores for performance yet again!

Absolutely plus Aurelia blew her out of the water with her act, Blu's singing paled in comparison.
