What an amazing finish to the season. This was a great episode.

I really hope we'll be seeing more of Tom Everett Scott next year!
martinfan
I thought this episode was horrible, no chemistry between these people at all. Pay Jesse Martin what ever you need to, Get Him Back!!

Yeah, that was really good. This whole season was one of the best in years, I think (despite losing Jesse). It STINKS like dirty diapers in a Ziploc bag, that we have to wait so darn long before the next season begins. Boo.

I am furious!!!! ... i could not believe it ended like it did .... i can't wait till next season i know we will see more of the governor and jack issues .... oh i am soo mad but mad with jack...ugh!!!!! and the governor's wife!!!!! i can't believe Jack just let him go like that... i have seen him do wild things for less and this was personal...
martinfan
Yeah! Do you think they had so much Jack (I do love Jack) and the Gov. to draw people away from the weak Law side of Order?
heathlev
THe sound on my TV skipped and I did not hear the name that the governor used to rent a room with a prostitute. HELP
decembergirl
maybe .. maybe a glimpse of what is to come (i can only hope) .... i do agree L&O was getting a bit boring, in my humble opinion i would have stopped watching long ago if it were not for Jack ... hmm?
decembergirl
jack mcoy ...
heathlev
thank you december girl!! That is what I thought but I had to make sure

Oh, you're kidding... really??? I think it's more interesting than it's been in a few years. Cast changes are always exciting, I think (even though it sucks to lose people you like, the new blood always stirs things up). The stories have been really strong this season, and the friction between the new and old characters is great.

I say Jack runs for DA and wins it by a controversially narrow margin, and Cutter and Rubirosa stay in place beside him. Please please, Law & Order gods, please?
decembergirl
i do agree with you on cutter , he reminds me of a young jack mcoy circa early 90's .... however at times, at least to me the characters look uncomfortable with each other .... the chemistry, drive or whatever it is that gets your blood pumping ... now tonight i was just totally upset so much i laughed at myself but this was why i started watching L&O so many years ago when it first premiered on a&e ....

I missed finale! Does anyone know when it is being rebroadcast, or how I can watch it? Thanks! manningjason@yahoo.com

I like the new setup for Jack and the new cast additions --- especially Linus Roache, who is the primary reason I came back to watching the L&O religiously, not sporadically as I was doing during the last few years. I was never crazy about Dennis Farina, and I disliked the female detective who followed him to the point where her character annoyed me, and I was always lukewarm to the Serena and Alexandra ADAs. (Claire Kincaid was the best, and the one against all other assistant DAs are measured in my book.)
L&O is back on track with the casting. Though I loved him and his fire as the lead prosecutor, I like seeing Jack McCoy in his new role, and seeing how he has to go against his natural inclinations and make more accommodations for political purposes. (One of his best lines early on as acting DA was saying how he now understood why Adam Schiff was so grouchy!)

I liked the not-so-subtle retelling of the Eliot Spitzer saga in Excalibur (re: Emperor’s Club) – except here the writers gave the governor a “happy” ending by letting his tawdy hooker entanglement stay hidden from the people – a letdown for our good guy Jack, but a nice dramatic twist for the viewer.

Best line tonight is when Excalibur employee describes client Al as an old guy “like him” --- and signals over to Cutter – a guy who is somewhere in the ballpark of 40. Linus Roache’s reaction was perfect!

I definately agree with you on both points. Both lines were great.

I must admit that i'm still not sold on the new guy! I really liked detective Green(Jesse Martin). He had really good chemistry with Lupo(Jeremy Sisto). I guess it'll take some time to get used to the new guy!

I like Cutter and Rubirosa, they make a good team. I especially love the fact that Sam Waterston has remained and is now playing the role of the District Attorney!

Cutter finally seemed comfortable in this last season. Hilarious when the hooker called him 'old, like him'. /snort

I find myself torn about Jack being the DA this season. His whole disposition seemed to change - I so adored the fire in his belly (to steal a line from this show) that he had as the ADA. I don't know - if Branch comes back I'd be thrilled to beans. I'm sad to see Det Greene go but all good things must come to an end. I'm lukewarm about this entire season; there wasn't enough time for them to all gel, thanks to the friggin stupid strike. I look forward to season 19, even if it is the last - there are always reruns that never get old.

i agree. in general, i liked this season better than the last despite the cast changes/addition. and i agree too that i'm torn about Jack's new role. it's refreshing to see him in this new light with new dimensions. but i do miss seeing him as a prosecutor in the court room (and of course miss seeing more of him).

good season finale. got something to look forward to next season.
(unless they are not planning on bring Jack back, then NO, not looking forward to next season) smile.gif

Does anyone know anything about a re-broadcast of L & O season finale? I missed it!!!

thanks

I too missed this episode & would love info on when it will be re-run or offered as a video online!

Thanks

I will agree the season finale was clearly lacking in the "wow factor." I expected much more but I seriously think its not the chemistry between these people but the "writing." The writers for Law & Order is mundane and predictable; no zig, no bang, no surprises no cliff hanger, just boring. I enjoy Anthony on the show and think Anthony contrast Sisko in specfic areas but clearly the writers are lacking in creativity. Hope next season has more bang and the wow factor. I think the writers for the SVU should be writing for Law & Order. Their season finale was great!

As far as I know, you cannot get it for free online, but you can download episodes from this season at Amazon.com. It's $1.99 per episode.

Hope this helps.

What is the name of the actress who played Rita the govenors wife?
Mia_Devlin
I really enjoyed the finale and hated that the Governor got away with it but I hope they will bring it up again next season. I am loving the DA's office Jack, Linus and Connie are a great team! I still love Anita and am loving Lupo but am not loving AA as the new detective. Maybe I will warm up to him next season but as of right now I doubt it. This will be only the third time since the beginning of L&O that I haven't liked one of the regular characters and all three have played detectives.

Her name is Alison Elliot. (Who, by the way, starred with Linus Roache and Helena Bonham Carter in Wings of the Dove about 10 years ago.)
SparklyH
THANK YOU! rolleyes.gif I knew I recognized her but forgot to look her up after the show was over. I loved that movie and am loving the book right now, too. Wings of the Dove was the second time I'd seen Linus Roache in anything--RFK was the first. I liked him as Bobby Kennedy. A few episodes ago when Cutter gave Jack the original RFK campaign button he'd bought on eBay, I thought it was a nice tongue-in-cheek nod to his previous work (and a really nice moment of respect and admiration in the story, too). Casting Alison Elliot was another tip of the hat. That's cool.

Also, if you have Comcast on Demand, you can rent recent L & O episodes for a small fee.

Alas, I do not have Comcast AND cannot download from Amazon as I use a Mac! Any other places? Free or pay ok.

Thanks for the answer(s).
