USA renews Law & Order Criminal Intent

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - USA Network has renewed "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" for an eighth season.

"Criminal Intent" was the top drama series in basic cable primetime for the fourth quarter, more than doubling USA's audience in the 10 p.m. Thursday slot from the same period the previous year.

Will NBC be airing any Law & Order Criminal Intent episodes this Fall, or will it only be available on USA? I hope they continue to show it on both. It's one thing when a cable network develops a series, and airs it on cable, but it's different when a show is developed, and aired on the public airwaves and then taken away. Why should I not give up on NBC if NBC has given up on NBC, and pinned all it's hopes, and it's best shows on USA?

Having (finally) seen all of season 6 and most of season 7 I am so chuffed that LOCI will be around for another year. Seasons 6 and 7 were so good; the stories, acting, guest stars, etc etc got better and better. I can't wait to see how Goren will be after the incredible season 7 finale.

I can't wait for the new shows to come out. I read somewhere that it's been pushed back to 2009, instead of this month. Does anybody know when in 2009?

The only info is first Quarter 2009. An exact date has yet to be released.

When do we find out if there is going to be a season 9? Seems we are well past the point where there should be news.

Official renewal news came out last year on 5/21 - 5/23. No news yet on Season 9. As soon as I know something I will post it.

gosh darn it why hasn't the show been picked up it is the top show on cable and the greatest

Right now Burn Notice is getting the best scripted drama ratings on USA... as well as reruns of NCIS. CI is at least doing better than In Plain Sight. To even place in the top 15 or 20 cable shows is pretty big. So for now I have to assume that it would actually be bigger news if the show was getting canceled and we would have heard about that, so it probably is renewed with a big ho-hum from USA.

I'm a bit surprised that the fandom isn't having a serious meltdown over the lack of an announcement.

This is one of the best shows on TV. It will run as long as it wants to but D'Onofrio is the key. Just hope he doesn't get burned out and quit. I like the addition of Goldblum and Julianne Nicholson is my favorite. And I wish they would bring back Alicia Witt.

In retrospect, given how awful this season turned out and what we know is coming in Season 9, I wish we could go back in time and undo this debacle. IMO LOCI should never have been renewed for Season 8.

yup, surprised its renewed as well. nonetheless its not too bad of a show imo.
