David Hasselhoff returns as a judge on “America’s Got Talent,” NBC’s summer reality competition series, which brings the variety format back to the forefront of American culture.

David Hasselhoff is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as "The Most Watched TV Star in the World" thanks to starring roles in both "Knight Rider" and "Baywatch." Born in Baltimore, Md., he dreamed as a child of having a career on Broadway, but his first professional job came on the CBS soap opera "The Young and the Restless," playing Dr. Snapper Foster.

Six years later he was lured by NBC President Brandon Tartikoff into starring in "Knight Rider" as Michael Knight, leading him to a People’s Choice Award for Most Popular Actor. The show is still playing throughout the world. In 1989, he headed the cast of "Baywatch." After being cancelled by NBC, “Baywatch” was acquired by Hasselhoff and the producing partners for syndication, and he became one of the executive producers and TV history was made. "Baywatch" ran for ll years and is still viewed in 140 countries by over one billion viewers every week.

Along the way, Hasselhoff appeared in several feature films, including “Layover,” “Legacy,” “Final Alliance,” “Fugitive Run,” “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story,” “The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie” and Adam Sandler’s “Click,” and his upcoming feature, “Bedtime Stories.” TV movies include "Cartier Affair," "Lady by the Lake," "One True Love," "Shaka Zulu," "Nick Fury," "Gridlock," "Avalanche," "Baywatch Hawaiian Wedding," and soon to be seen on the Sci-Fi channel, “Anaconda II.”

Guest appearances on TV series include "Just Shoot Me," "Yes, Dear," "3rd Rock From the Sun," "Still Standing" and "West Wing" among others. His remarkable musical career took off in the late 1980s when he recorded the album, "Looking For Freedom,” at the end of the Cold War. The song became an anthem for the German people and remained at the top of their charts for eight weeks. The album went triple platinum in Europe and Hasselhoff was named "Most Popular and Best Selling Artist of the Year."

He has since garnered over 40 gold and platinum records worldwide. In 1989, he sang "Looking For Freedom" from atop the Berlin Wall to over 1 million people during the German reunification celebration. He is currently recording an album with award-winning Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn. His latest single, "Jump in My Car," which he performed on "America’s Got Talent" hit the top of the U.K. charts. The video has been downloaded over 6 million times and he was recently named one of the most downloaded artists of the year. His concerts have played to standing room only audiences worldwide.

In 2000, Hasselhoff made his long-awaited theatrical debut in the Broadway musical, "Jekyll & Hyde," which was also filmed by Broadway Television Network has aired on HBO, and is available on DVD from Image Entertainment.

He went on to make his West End debut in London as Billy Flynn in the long-running musical "Chicago," as well as recently appearing in the Las Vegas production of Mel Brooks’ hit musical, “The Producers.” His comic turn as the flamboyant Roger DeBris proved to be an audience favorite.

Hasselhoff’s autobiography, "Making Waves," was published by Hodder & Stoughton in the U.K. and was on the Best Seller list. A U.S. release titled "Don’t Hassel the Hoff" was recently released by Thomas Dunne books, a division of St. Martin’s Press. In addition, he was awarded the Comeback Star of the Year on the VH1 Big in ’06 Awards.

He resides in Southern California with his two daughters, Taylor-Ann and Hayley.

I've enjoyed David since he was Snapper on the Y & R! He represents the spirit of America on AGT. He wears his heart on his sleeve and reacts emotionally to every performance. It's truly wonderful to see how the great performances like Neil Boyd's opera affect him. It's like watching a little boy cheer as his favorite baseball hero hits a homerun! Keep up the good cheer, David.

The "hoff man", heh he judges mostly with his heart but sometimes that could be a bad thing letting some acts in that really don't deserve to go through, same with Sharon. cool.gif

David Hasselhoff is one of the main reasons this show is more exciting. America's Got Talent is the best show in history, and David Hasselhoff is the one who made it this way. The hoff is amazing!
(So are the other judges, but...hasselhoff rules!)

See my sig. Isn't this getting annoying? He says it after like every act that it loses its meaning...

Does it bother anyone else that David could have killed two contestants in two separate instances? First he buzzed the sword swallower in mid swallow, then he wanted to jump up and down on Bruce Block while he was lying on the bed of nails.

And he doesn't judge with his heart: he judges with his ego. He's terrified of the audience booing him the same way they boo Piers, so he won't say anything bad or even think of hitting his buzzer unless the audience is calling for him to.

And when he does find an act that is clearly bad, he always tries to make some smug, snide Simon Cowell-ish remark to put them down.

NBC, please, give David his pink slip before he kills somebody. Or at least put the Xs back the way they were in Season 1, where only the third and final was the buzz, and reduce the chances of David getting the chance to kill somebody with his X again.

I wish David would tone it down a bit and stop all the getto comments. Hes never been to the getto.

David has done some interresting things on this show, to say the least. He seems a little inconsistent to me at times. Last episode he actually called a man a "freak". I don't think that insults need to be flung around. His comment that it was the "worst act" he had ever seen was enough! To call someone a freak is over the top. I know they are going for shock value sometimes, but is it really necessary?
kimmiSmart
If the contestant shot an insult back it would be hysterical. I dont understand how contestants can be brave enough to get onstage with their act and yet are too timid to insult back.

I really like David Hasselhoff as a judge. He really shows his raw emotions on the stage at various performances. He's not afraid to cry like he did last night or just scream or tell it like it is. He also likes to get to know each and every contestant and really genuine. I liked how he wasn't afraid to give that lady (the black lady who sings and is 41ish) a hug on the stage and he sat right down beside her to show her support. He really seems caring and nice as a judge. I like him. I hope he stays on this show for many years to come.

I felt privileged to watch you as you showed such compassion for those that didn't move forward. They say that eyes are the windows to the soul and yours speak volumes. Before this show, I only saw you as another "actor" - now I see you for the man you are. I would like to say thank you. In this day and age, people put up facades rather than allow empathy to show through; as so many find it a sign of weakness. My hats off to you! You make the show!

David,

I love your show. We need more people like you. You have enjoyed a great career, and I can see that you want to give something back, by reaching out-taking someone’s hand and pulling them up. If all successful people would do that, what a different world we would live in.

Hoff, ever make it out to Long Island where the ladies like me are warm and special, down-to-earth and non-judgmental? wink.gif If you are not currently dating anyone yet, well I'd sure like to meet you, no matter what you do on "AGT."

David,

The show would slowly die out with out you. You must be on every AGT season, or I'll never EVER watch AGT again.
Even though AGT is my favorite show, and I'm beyond obsessed with it.

I know, I know...everyone wants to be heard. With so many topics and posts,
it's hard to stand out from the crowd. But did you know that TALKING IN ALL
CAPS online indicates that you are shouting? It's a very aggressive way to
post and it doesn't come off as being very friendly. Moderators can (and do)
delete any topics or posts that use ALL CAPS.

I've been following you since I was a tenager, and me and my Mom would watch you on Young and the Restless when you played Snapper foster. You became even more great as Michael Knight on Knight Rider, and man, what a hunk on Baywatch!

As far as I am concerned at my ripe old age of 50, I know hot, and you're still the hottest talent out there. I had an autographed picture of you way back when, but it is worn out and gone. I miss it. Glad you're still around.
