Sharon Osbourne returns as a judge on “America’s Got Talent,” NBC’s summer reality competition series, which brings the variety format back to the forefront of American culture.

Sharon Osbourne is not only an acclaimed TV personality - she has been immensely successful as a manager, mother, author, producer and philanthropist!

Her accomplished career in the music industry has spanned over 30 years. Sharon has managed numerous successful artists’ careers, such as Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Electric Light Orchestra, Smashing Pumpkins, Motorhead and Slade. In 1996, Sharon created and produced the biggest and most successful hard rock touring festival in America: Ozzfest. Ozzfest went on to become a prime rock occasion and recently celebrated its 13th year.

Sharon is also credited with creating and producing the first reality celebrity TV show, “The Osbournes,” which had an illustrious run on MTV, earning MTV the highest ratings for any of their programs since its conception. In 2002, “The Osbournes” won a Primetime Emmy for Best Reality Show.

Sharon’s additional television credits include guest starring on “Will & Grace,” NBC’s “Days of our Lives” and “Punk’d,” among many other American series. In 2007, she wrapped her fourth season with X Factor in the UK.

You left out Survivor! Sharon is a survivor and I can't wait to watch her tonight on America's Got Talent. On NBC at 9 p.m.

Sharon is great! I think she is an awesome judge. Glad they dumped Brandy in favor of Sharon.
Chy_2008
Well, I just LOVE Sharon Osbourne. She is such a beautiful woman, inside and out, and coveys such a warmth. With her background and accomplishments in music and entertainment, viewers and contestants, alike, must respect her learned opinions on all of the performances. Indeed, she is a survivor of colon cancer (not to mention the 70's) and a true intellect and gracious woman in every sense of the word. Great to have her back on American TV.
Calicat40
Sharon you are by far my favorite judge and one of my favorite TV personalities. I agree with the above poster, your are gracious and warm and funny. I love it when the boys take their shirts off too girl! woohooo. rolleyes.gif

I met Sharon Twice, and might I say she is a very beautiful woman. I grow and decorate gourds. I decorated one and had the honor of giving it to her in person when she had her talk show on TV. I will always be a big fan no matter what she does......
Beatles_Lover
I do believe that Sharon, simply, ROCKS!!!

She knows when to stand up.

She knows when to step down.

She knows when enough is enough and

She knows when talent has been found!

The woman is a product of her upbringing, her environment, her daily life.

She is the judge to beat! tongue.gif

I have to say she seems like a nice lady but I really don't like how she judges. cool.gif

Sharon Osbourne is nice. TOO nice. I think she should act a little more...like Piers, and Hoff. I guess she just doesn't wanna hurt anyone's feelings, which I like about her, but she should at least be a BIT more harsh. It's a million dollars you guys are giving away.
sweetie2008
What I like about Sharon Osbourne is that she's the kindest judge when she has to say to any contestant who had a awful performance that simply It was terrible!!!!!!!. I hope that she never changes, Piers is mean enough . And when she has to congratulate to someone I feel that she does it very sincerely. I would like to meet her in person some day. I love you sharon. I'd really love if you could read this. laugh.gif
Terastas
I agree, Sharon is too nice. No matter how bad an act is, the worst Sharon will say is that it's "not ready" or "not appropriate." She'll never tell someone that they don't have talent.

What's worse, Sharon appears to be looking less for good acts and more for bizarre novelty acts. I can already see her pattern of poor judgment repeating; she gave the Tina Turner impersonator the exact same lines she gave Boy Shakira. When it comes time to make cuts, Sharon is the one that will give the ax to someone that could potentially win so that a complete waste-of-time novelty act can have the stage.

Right now, I would say Sharon is the 2nd best judge AGT has ever had. Of course, that's not saying much since she's ranking higher in my personal opinion over David Hasslehoff (who is terrified of the audience booing him for negative comments and is too infatuated with himself to ever say anything useful) and Brandy (who I honestly believe was out to turn AGT into a showcase for little black child divas just like herself). So despite her being one of AGT's better judges, I still think she's doing more to hurt AGT than help it. David needs to go before Sharon, but look around for a replacement for her too if you can.

Sharon is a living doll. Im so happy to see her looking so good. I was really concerned for her last season. That Ozzie is one lucky man.

WOW Emily David!!! was awesome...unbelievable and has set the bar. But the real reason I'm writing you is to...Thank you for bringing a dream to life for me. As a boy I only listened to Ozzy and Halford and last Saturday my childhood dream was a reality. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!!! I wish you and your family the best!!! we luv you!!! Sharon, just heard about Minnie. I am so sorry. I wish I could give you a hug. Know that I love you and I am thinking of you. My your heart and soul be comforted in your loss of your beloved pet Minnie Osbourne.

The thing about Sharon is she seems to judge more on political correctness than with how much talent a contestant has and to me that's not the way to judge for a competition such as this. cool.gif

i love sharon as a judge!! by far the best! biggrin.gif

One refreshing thing about "America's Got Talent" is Sharon Osborne. She is just so radiant and so very humble. When she talks you can tell its coming from her heart. Thank you Sharon for just shining so and touching so many lives. God Bless all!!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your hair. (yes, I'm shouting)

Sharon,

There needs to be a special vote for your 'unscheduled performance' tonight. smile.gif It may not be Vegas-worthy but it was certainly one of the most entertaining 'acts' of the show. Hilarious! You go, girl!!!

Love ya!

BTW, I really, really liked The Dancing Dads. They are so appealing for some reason. I absolutely adored their choice of music/song. I think it worked perfectly for their act. They were one of 4 I voted for. I didn't see their first performance so I want to see them again. smile.gif
ginabackes
smile.gif sharon i hope you get this email i just want you to know how much i reallylove the show. i just love you so much!!!! you go girl!!!!!! this is my 2 nd season whatching the show. you are absalutly wonderful!!!!!! i just love to see you tell someone how much you love them. you are so exciting and i know all the traveling that all of do has to be very tirering and fustrating. you are all welcome to come to my neck of the woods if you ever need a break. love you all.
huhwhat
I'm sooo sick of Sharon. She's begun to take herself way too seriously, shushhing contestants and buzzing good acts while heaping praise on freaks and inflatable toys. I think if the twins she dumped on last night would have said they were really boys, she would have had an orga$m of praise for them on the spot!! Why does being the ex-groupie wife of a burnt out rocker make her a talent expert? I don't think she and Ozzie could put a whole intact brain together between the two of them. Between her and Piers, they have transformed America's talent from Ed Sullivan to the Rocky Horror Picture Show. ohmy.gif
kwgrid

Who's taking what too seriously now?? Come on now. Sharon has been working with Piers for quite a while and his insulting way of expressing himself may just have gotten on her last nerve. I applaud Sharon for having the hutzpah to finally "bring him to task" for that uncouth mouth of his regardless of what anyone may think of her actions.

Michael's tone with Piers was way out of line and showed a lack of class. He put himself at Piers level and that's a mistake. Piers is way too insulting for my taste. He can be critical and still retain some dignity for himself as well as the contestants.

The judges are human beings with virtues and shortcomings just like the rest of us. They may admittedly not be the very best in all the whole world for judges but maybe the "best in all the whole world of judges" wouldn't put themselves in a position to be lauded or lambasted by millions of people.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion..........as am I. For me, I don't rate my feelings about this show and/or its judges parallel to a presidential election.
Tsbhome
I may have said that Sharon is too nice, earlier. Now, I really honestly love her as a judge. She's getting more strict, just as she should be. She can make anyone smile with her motherly attitude.

Sharon, I love you. (as a judge, heh)

Thanks,
TSBHOME

Most of the time I think Sharon is awesome, but tonight when she snapped at Piers for his opinion on the soldier/singer, she showed a side that made me cringe. She clearly believes that serving in the military is not an honor, the way she said "you served your country once, don't go back... don't go back." The guy isn't a good singer, but is patronizing him going to "honor his service?" I say no. If he can handle the conflicts and stress of war, he can handle the truth about his singing. Sharon was way off on this one, in my opinion.
AzizalSaqr
I think you misunderstood what she was saying. I don't believe she is anti-military so much as she believes that he has done his duty to his country and he shouldn't feel guilty about wanting to stay home now with his family and pursue his dream. I do believe that Sharon might be anti-war, which has nothing to do with honoring his service to his country.

I loved it when Sharon spoke her heart and mind about the military service, the guy did his duty he should not be made to feel he is wrong by not going back, he is a good singer, not worthy of this prize in my opinion, but he is good, there are others in this compitition that can beat him out of first place.
I love that Fiesty Sharon we are getting to see, I think Morgan is a bit too judgemental at times, but that is exactly what Simon Cowell wanted, so it makes the show what it is, "Wonderful!"
Begood
Sharon I wanted to say I am so glad to see you judging the show. I know these contestants are trying their best to impress you and America. I am glad to see a judge actually try to give them pointers to help them out without tearing them down. I have really enjoyed this seasons show. Great judges, host and fine contestants.

Well said, and while I completely agree that my feelings about entertainment don’t generally run as deep as my feelings about elections/world events, I do feel strongly about how we as a world treat people. With that said, I would strongly suggest that you (HUHWHAT) check your facts before you voice an opinion. Sharon was/is very involved in Ozzy's career (fact) and quite possibly has prevented him from being the "burnt out rocker" you claim (opinion), in addition to her many, many other accomplishments, which I could list but it would be a very long list, and I really think you need to do a little research before you make a statement. While you're at it, if you are brave enough, you might want to check out the success of Ozzfest and Ozzy's concerts, not to mention the excitement that Guitar Hero is generating. While I admit that I am old enough to have owned Black Sabbath and Ozzy on Vinyl, I would like to point out that my kids also love his music - both the old and the new.

As for the "a whole intact brain together" comment, again I would have to disagree. In my opinion, Ozzy has a brilliant creative mind and is quite intelligent; as with many artistic people, I think he is often misunderstood but then again not many of us have had the opportunity to sit and have a deep discussion with him. While I admit that Sharon can be impulsive and she certainly is passionate, she is a genius; you just don’t have the success that she has had without having intelligence.

My last opinion (yes - opinion) involves the question of what qualifies someone to be a judge, which is a rather humorous concept since "the biggest judge" is the American public and, let's face it, most of us don’t have the talent or courage to compete or we would do so. For example, I can't carry a tune for anything but I do recognize when someone else is flat, and I know what entertains me. Likewise, I can recognize that even if I don’t care for a particular form of entertainment, it doesn’t make the entertainer any less talented or suggest that there is not an audience that would enjoy the performance. With that said, whether or not you personally like them, the panel of judges all have had success in some aspect of the entertainment industry, which makes them qualified to provide a more informed and appropriate opinion and/or suggestion. Also, they have the benefit of viewing the contestants in a different way than the television audience, which means they might notice something that sways them one way or another that the viewers missed. I might add that I believe Sharon actually has the most diverse resume/success of the three but they all bring something to the table and create a pretty fair balance. Again, they are humans and personal preferences are going to play a part in their decisions, which doesn’t make them any less valid. Perhaps we don’t always agree with or understand their decisions but if everyone did then there would be no diversity in the entertainment world - or any other aspect of our lives.

If Sharon was a contestant on AGT and I was a judge... I would tell Sharon... " I think your adorable!!!!! ".... smile.gif

<clipped>

Whoa,, Nellie! I clipped most of your post because it's irrelevant to me but I left enough so you could recognize which post I'm talking about. You did a reply that includes a quote for my post but what you're saying (once you got past the first sentence) does not apply to my post at all. You've mixed some corn with your butterbeans. Starting with your sentence "With that said, I would strongly suggest that you (HUHWHAT) check your facts" etcetera etcetera, you went into left field somewhere. I have no earthly idea who you're suppose to be responding to but it wasn't my post that you quoted.

Who needs to check what now?
1tiredmomtoo
You are absolutely correct - the majority of my post was not meant as a response to you but rather the post above the post you responded to, which is (huhwhat). Admittedly, I read these boards and do not often post, as you can clearly tell, so I am still lacking abilities when it comes to quoting folks, responding, etc. What I was attempting to convey was that I agreed with your thoughts on Sharon having worked with Piers, etc., so I was not going to repeat what you already said quite well - but that I wished to add my 10 cents worth to huhwhat. I am very sorry that it was confusing. I have actually read several posts of yours on these boards and I find your comments quite intelligent regardless of whether or not I always agree, so, again, please accept my apologies for appearing to be correcting or contradicting you, and I will definitely be more careful with my quotes in the future.
kwgrid
Very nice of you to acknowledge the mixup. I had intended to put a smiley face at the end of my last sentence where I said "who needs to check what now?" biggrin.gif I got distracted and when I came back I hit 'add reply' without thinking. No apology necessary. I knew right away it was some kind of mixup.

Thank you for your kind words about my posts. That's very sweet. wub.gif

I don't think it's Sharon and Piers that have ruined the show - I think it is Sharon and David - neither one of them have any backbone to speak of, don't want to make the hard choices and practically choked when they had to go before Piers on a decision. Piers has some guts and speaks honestly - he may be a bit rude, but better that than completely wishywashy.
Shadira422
I have watched Sharon as she has gone from reality show with Ozzie to her own talk show with Minnie to AGT with Piers and David and I do not believe she has changed much at all. Yes, she is like the mother of the group (judges) while Piers is the father and David the silly, mouthy kid. But they all play their own particular parts and as a result, they do mesh well together.

I really miss seeing Sharon on TV as much as she used to be. I miss her show with Ozzie a lot, even though my kids could never understand why their 60 year old mother was watching it.

Sharon is a great addition to AGT. She deserves every accolade that she gets. Keep it up, Sharon. You are a breath of fresh air on the show.

I just finished watching a rewind of last week's top ten performances and nearly fell off my chair when Sharon said: "Hello Donald! You look very sexy in those trousers. My, what a big boy you are! rofl~! Donald darling, you are just fabulous singing those romantic songs ....Fabulous! Lovely!"

I think there is certainly a cultural difference going on here regarding what is a compliment and what is .... ? What do you think?

ETA: I just love Sharon!
motherjj
Sharon is a beautiful woman but she is on this show as a judge. She has done so much work in the rock area of music, I think she is biased. Donald Braswell is NOT dated. His style of music NEVER goes out of style. This world is made up of all ages and it takes all kinds of music to reach the masses. Donald has the best voice on this season's show and can sing Opera, Classical, Pop and what the american people like plus he has a charisma in his delivery, Open your eyes and ears Judges, listen to what is being sung, listen to what he has already done on the show and off (his CD is beautiful and hard copy sold out)
Slovak
I can not believe how terribly rude Sharon was tonight (9-24) to Donald! How awful of her to tell him to go play some other "character." She should know....with the characters she lives with! Tonight she was the worst judge!! She even stole one of David's trite remarks! Do the judges take turn being the rudest???
cher1975
I agree completely - she was just obnoxious about it and I'm sorry, what's her point of reference for talent - Ozzie - not my cup of tea Sharon!!!
GhostFan
I used to like Sharon, but she showed her ugly side this season. Her fan base just shrunk. Her rudeness to Donald over the last weeks and, especially last night, were totally undeserved and showed zero class. She made it very clear she was the one responsible for getting Piers to help her vote Donald off the show earlier. Now she has sour grapes. I never thought I would be able to say that Piers showed class with his manner of acceptance of Donald coming back. Donald has wonderful personality and his connection with the audience is what brought him back. I think it is time that America's Got Talent got American judges.
Deppfan
It has taken me 24 hours to cool down from Sharon's comments to Donald. I still haven't cooled down much but so be it. I would like to preface this post by saying that I would be writing this post regardless of who Sharon directed her unkind and rude remarks to - whether it be Nuttin But Strings, Queen Emily, Neal or Eli.

Let me start by saying we all know what an honor it is for our favorites to be in the Top 5. It is what they have dreamed of, been rehearsing for and building up to since the competition began. Last night was their "moment" - probably the biggest moment in their professional life, other than winning the competition.

What is particularly appalling is that Sharon stole that moment from Donald. What should have been an exhilarating and jubilant moment for him, was stolen by tasteless and irresponsible words spewing from Sharon's mouth. She can't give that back to him now - he will always remember that the shining moment, the dream, everything he has worked so hard for since his accident, will always be marked with the day someone told him his singing was better than his personality.

She obviously couldn't find anything wrong with his singing, so she had to attack the quiet grace that is Donald. Donald is not lacking in personality whatsoever. I hope he knows that. Personality is not crying or jumping around the stage. Does she really think that is what defines a person? She knows nothing of all that is Donald and it is ludicrous of her to think that she does.

I applaud Donald for the grace and style in which he handled Sharon's comments. You can't buy class, Sharon, you need to remember that.
1068

I echo all the positive comments already made about Donald, and will add some regarding Sharon: Sharon has been shockingly nasty to him since the 2nd audition. Her obvious disregard for him has crossed the boundaries between personal and professional. Her pre-clip showed her predisposition to dislike him no matter what he sang, and her post-performance comments proved this. Her comments were inappropriate, and did not reflect on his talent, but on his... "niceness"?! Obviously he does have great charm and charisma, or he wouldn't be in the Finale. Her lack of professionalism not only showed in her inane insults, but in her bored facial expressions, her half-hearted hand clapping, and most importantly, when she further stole from Donald's big moment when David tried to praise Donald. She interupted David, saying, "Oh, please!" quite loudly. She could learn about class from Donald, who has amazingly maintained dignity throughout all the abuse.
I sent an email to NBC that for the show to maintain any crediblity, she owes him a public apology.
GhostFan
Well said, 1068, Deppfan, Cher1975, Slovak, and Motherjj! Guess I need more than 24 hours, Deppfan, to cool off:-). You said it perfectly. She said awful things to others and she should be booted just for that. But to hit someone, anyone, on the finals, is inexcusable. I would have been just as appalled had she done the same thing to any of the others. I'm dreading her comments this week. Probably more of her sickening "nice" comments. She needs to apologize. AGT need to give Sharon the boot and get an American judge. She disgusts me now.

QUOTE (1068 @ Sep 26 2008, 09:15 AM) *

I did the same thing as you. I sent NBC a response to Sharon's behaviour as well. I was so taken aback at how she spoke to Donald last week, that was completely uncalled for. At this point in the competition, there is nothing served by being so unprofessional and nasty. I applaud Donald for not responding, it moves him up the classy ladder miles above Sharon. She has no class at all.I understand that what the judges do is for ratings, but to voice her personal dislike of someone who is in the 5 finalists, is just over the top. It would serve her right if Donald won this whole thing just to shut her up...and force her to eat a huge serving of crow.
