NBC renews series, announces premieres

NBC has renewed freshman drama series Chuck and Life and sophomore hit Heroes for next season.

Additionally, the network Wednesday announced premiere dates for the series returning with original episodes this season.

Chuck, Life and Heroes had been picked up for a full season this season. They won't air new original episodes in the spring but will be relaunched in the fall.

"We are thrilled to be bringing back the high-energy dramas 'Chuck' and Life' for next season," NBC's Ben Silverman said.

Added Marc Graboff, "These pickups are a sign of our confidence in these quality series and will allow the respective producers to get a head start on their creative arc for next season."

Following are the premiere dates for NBC's scripted series that have been picked up for additional episodes to air in April and May:

My Name Is Earl (one-hour episode) -- April 3

30 Rock, The Office, Scrubs, ER -- April 10

Law & Order: SVU -- April 15

Law & Order -- April 23


Yay! I'll miss not seeing it until the fall but here's hoping for reruns, nonetheless.

I normal don't come over to night time boards , but Thank Heaven Life is coming back. I think this is one of the best show NBC has going for it. YEA!!!!!!

I went right above here and clicked on visit show site -it took me to to NBC.com to the LIFE webpage and I noticed at the bottom it had various small options-one of them was CONTACT US -so I sent NBC an email concerning LIFE. I told them how glad i was they had picked LIFE up for a full season in December BUT what is going on now. Are they planning on reshowing the shows they already have with a new media blitz to promo the show again. I told them the show has a LARGE FAITHFUL FOLLOWING-SO HOW ABOUT EVERYONE-CAN I COUNT ON YOU TO DO WHAT I JUST DID AND EMAIL NBC-IT ONLY TOOK A FEW MINUTES-lets bombard them with emails on the subject of LIFE!!!!!

I came over here to see if Life was coming back on. Yay! Happy to hear it is. I love this show!!

Yes, let's continue to send NBC email about re-airing the repeats. I have all these people who want to give the show a try but can not watch any of them online. I just wish NBC would answer one email and let us know when they will re-air the repeats, then we would leave them alone. I don't know, you'd think it would be an easy thing to answer. Would only take them a minute to reply. But I guess for now we just have to keep sending email until we get an answer or we see the Life repeats! That's the only way to make things happen, sending email.

I am going through serious withdrawal. Do we really have to wait until fall????

Well, interesting how I share a lot with the bloggers here:

3. Wife and I are faithful fans.
4. Incredibly grateful it's coming back.

Having said all that, my cynical side says, "I'll believe it when I see it!" Last year they cancelled "The Black Donnely's" which I also thought was excellent. When I think of all the drivel on TV passed off as drama or humor and they cancel shows like "Life" and "The Black Donnely's" it's a sad commentary on America's taste in the arts. Still, I have my finger's crossed for next season.

what a bummer that Life won't be back until the fall. But at least it is definately coming back! yay for that at least.

Thank god this is coming back. This show is a great show, far better then some of teh other trash NBC has put out over the years. Hope it lasts six or seven years. Good by Las Vegas, hello Life. Smart choice.

Oh, you HAVE to see Band of Brothers. Everyone in it is fantastic. It is a little brutal at times, because war is brutal. But it is truly worth watching--I have seen the entire 10 hour series about 6 times now and still love it.
He was also in the movie "Dreamcatcher" and was great in that too. Anything that we see he is in, we give it a shot.

You are absolutely cortrect about the band of brothers. it was one of teh best mini series I've seen in years...

I hear that he is so good in a lot of other films too but can't seem to find any of them for sale or rent in the US. Does anyone know where you can buy DVDs of any of his films made in the Uk? I found one website that would ship them from the UK but it was like $40 just to ship a couple of DVDs much less pay for the cost of the DVDS themselves...any ideas? I just think it'd be fun to watch him with his "true" British accent too...

I too, am female and hate war movies but my husband laughed his head off when I'd get home everynight & couldn't wait to watch another Band of Brothers DVD. It is long and takes about a week to watch the whole thing but well worth it. Although everyone in it is a star and plays a hero, Damian Lewis is just about the main star of the whole thing and a plays a big hero of the war!

Greatlife, you can definitely rent or buy many of Damian's films from Blockbuster.com or Netflix.The Forsyte Saga, An Unfinished Life (Damian's role is small but significant), Friends and Croccodiles, Keane, Colditz, and Shakespeare Re-Told, are all available at Blockbuster.com. Be prepared, many of the characters that Damian plays are not paticularly sympathetic, but they show the great range of his acting. He does drama and comedy equally well.
If you want to view any of Damian's work prior to BoB, you'll probably need a region-free DVD player; otherwise some of his earlier work like Peacekeepers/Warriors can be found on Youtube.

Eleven episodes?? Here in New Zealand they only showed nine episodes. Looks like I have to email the channel who screens LIFE to show the last two episodes together with Season 2.

i m from Greece so get what i cant watch this tv series directly ) but with a fast internet i download everything and watch them it is really great not only "life" but "heroes" and "prison break"
i think that life overcome the last two ones it s better then those (well my personal opinion:))
i have a question i search here and there to see what is going on with "life"
any one has any idea when the new episodes will be available again?
cause really nothing better to do
i watch all the episodes of psych and as the other it says next episodes will start again in summer i hope this one will be a bit sooner:)

Life is coming back on Friday nights at 10pm. Woo Hoo! Too bad we have to wait until fall. I have all 11 episodes on my Tivo still so I'm going to re-watch those:) Have a great day all!

While I'm happy that Life's coming back in the fall, Friday night is known as "The Death Slot". It seems that's the day and time where a lot of shows with relatively weak ratings are assigned before being canceled. Hopefully Life's fan base will remain dedicated and strong, and like Friday Night Lights it will be renewed for a third season.

Returning drama "Life" will follow "Heroes" on two special Monday broadcasts (10-11 pm. ET) in addition to its regularly scheduled timeslot on Fridays (10-11 pm. ET) giving "Life" four hours of originals in two weeks on September 29, October 3, October 6 and October 10.

well, looking at nbc's summer 09 schedule i deduce that there is absolutely no reason for me to tune into that network all summer. i guess it's back to the library for me.

Friday Nights are not good.
People mostly are out doing something around that time.
Their so trying to get rid of this amazing show, it's sad.
I hope it changes, Wednesdays's were fine with me.

Everyone knows that a Friday timeslot is a death sentence to almost every show that has ever aired on Friday. To put this amazing show on Friday night is unforgivable.
I sincerely hope that if they keep Life in the Friday timeslot, it will be one of the exceptions and have a lot of viewers.

Yes, I am also suspicious of the Friday night slot.. If "they" had wanted to do it "right", they would have run all the episodes from season 1 again this summer, as a primer to get people into the show in the fall.
I certainly would have loved the "refresher".

By now, certainly by fall 2008, the momentum is gone, and people who are/were really into LIFE will have forgotten some or a lot of the finer points and possibilities, which is what made the show the "must see" we all waited for each week.

I'm not happy....

I don't care when it comes on as long as it comes on again.

NBC please I am begging you....can that stupid open a briefcase and look at boobs show, and put LIFE back on Wednesday nights.

Are you kidding me NBC? All the promotion for law&order, 30 rock, and who only knows why Deal. Promote this show, and put it on where people will start watching it. It is fantastically written and the actors are great. Someone please wake-up and realize the Nielson ratings are BS. I have only ever watched this show once at home. The rest of the episodes I watched online. Get more from your online advertising, and promote your good shows.

[font="Verdana"][/font] I am delighted to hear that "LIFE" is returning to network television. This is without a doubt our favorite show. It is funny, engaging and complex. The actors and the writers do a great job!
As for the Friday night time slot, I cannot say that I am happy with that. As others have mentioned before me, this is a terrible time slot for what is one of the very best shows on TV. Maybe the network will re-think this awful placement after reading our comments. I am really thankful to have a DVR - I will never miss a show.

Yesterday NBC announced that they are delaying the fall season premieres for many of their new and returning shows. New episodes of Life will begin on October 3rd.
