Im sorry, but something has to be done about this horrible host. I cant stand listening to him horribly read off queue cards and make awkward comments. Where's the petition, i wanna be the first to sign, who's with me?

Is Billy Ray Cyrus an idiot, or is he on something? It's embarassing to watch the guy struggle to read the cue cards. I'd fire his butt right now and get someone on there that actually has a personality and can read. Good God NBC, what are you thinking?

I have to agree, I think Billy Ray is a pretty bad host, but what is sad, is that he is not even the biggest problem with the show. If anything stands out like a sore thumb, it is that Jewel has nothing to do with country music whatsoever. She had a strategically placed "country" song debut before her Nashville Star appearance. The people who market Jewel as a country singer, think that the people who listen to country music are stupid and can't tell the difference between a pop singer and a country artist. Come on, don't be fooled. They are trying to take the country out of country.

How the hell did Billy Ray Cyrus get the gig as host of Nashville Star? My one-eyed cat can read the teleprompter faster and make it sound more natural. Please, please, please either dump BRC or rehearse him 24/7, so he doesn't appear like he's a puppet being manipulated by a cattle prod shoved up his wazoo.

I went to all the trouble to sign up for this blog.... because billy ray cyrus is HORRIBLE. They need to get him off the show or it's going to fail. He can barely read the cue cards, has nothing original to add, talks slow and looks STUPID. Thank goodness they added the other woman to help save the show, but he is going to ruin it. You just start enjoying it and then he talks and brings the whole tempo of the show down. It's painful to watch him!!!!!!!!!

I also joined just to say how badly BRC is doing. My wife and I actually laugh at times when he stumbles through the cards or prompter...whatever it is he can't read. He's making Ryan Seacrest look really good.

Someone please save us from Billy Ray. He has NO business being a host for anything. He looks like a slob, makes snide comments, and smirks.
I wouldnt watch this show at all if I wasn't rooting on a local gal. But he makes it almost like torture.

Hahaha!! I was taking a swallow of Coke when I read that and I almost spit my pop all over the screen. You guys are sooooooo mean! Okay, so he's not the fastest reader but he sure looks good and he's well known to everyone so I think he's a great choice for a host, I say keep him around!

Every week, they show the judges mentoring the contestants. Maybe they should start showing Katie Cook mentoring Billy Ray.

I'm really disappointed in the way NS has been going. Nancy O'Dell was the best host. I thought Wynonna did a great job too, but BRC, Jewel and Leann Rhimes were terrible. They made it about them, not the contestants. Thank god for TIVO so I can skip through BRC.

I totally agree.....he is terrible. He seems "plastic", very uncomfortable, and lacks personality. All he does is READ the teleprompter!! NBC must have been counting on riding on his current exposure. He was a one-hit wonder. This show is really a disaster all the way around. The contestants, the judges and their role as mentors, and the host.

I agree with Gail. I think Billy Ray is doing a good job. Give everyone a chance.

I am sorry but this show was so much better on USA when Billy wasn't the host. If they want to continue this show they need someone with more excitement and personality. He is just so obvious when he reads from the Tella prompter. It is just boring. He says the same stuff over and over. "That was great, Judges what did you think?" Makes random comments. Like to Justin your gonna be a big movie star??? What who tells someone who is singing they are going to be a great movie star?? It is like watching the grass grow...actually watching grass may be more exciting. Seriously is there anyway to get this guy sacked??? HE IS HORRIBLE!!!

Kady Cook, the special correspondent, is a better host then he is. They need to hire her and ditch billy ray.

Hes just so bad and impersonal....and soooo dull. I couldnt believe it, seriously. My 3 year old son would be a better host then him. At least hes interesting to watch!!

Am I the only person that is sick and tired of watching Billy Ray Cyrus stare into the camera and act like a dummy. I can't take it any longer. Theres plenty of people out and about that would be great at the job. Hell, wheres Big Kenny. Let him do that. Hell I'll even take the little blonde chick that interviews the contestants. Just please don't make me watch another minute of the "Achy Breaky Bad Mistaky!"

I for one really like the Job Billy Ray is doing. He comes accross as a real person and never tries to take the spot light off of those who are trying to win the show.

Ok I will have to say that I do love Billy Ray and have ever since he started his career but I don't like his hosting this show. I mean how hard is it to memorize lines so he doesn't have to look at the teleprompter all the time. Doesn't he have a disney show with his daughter that I have to watch all the time cause my daughter is a fan of his daughter. He seems to know what he is doing there so why can't he do the same on the show. I thought he danced better when he was on dancing with the stars than he hostes this show. I really thought that he was going to do well cause he is an actor and this is his territory with it being country and all. So if NBC reads these and takes our advice than I think that they need to tell Billy that he needs to just chill out and be himself and learn the lines before the show so that he doesn't have to look at the prompter unless he forgets the lines. I was happy about him being the host but now I'm not so happy. I'm hoping that he will do better as the show goes on and mabey get some practice in before the shows cause he is going to need all the help he can get.

The first couple of weeks, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but he needs to get a little personality into the show. Katie Cook is saving the hosting part. Maybe he should be her co host, so I wouldn't have to turn the mute on as soon as he starts talking! Sorry Billy Ray, you are talented and you made your millions, but hosting shows just isn't your thing.

Billy Ray does not look good anymore! He was really cute years ago when he did Acky Breaky, now he looks like he just came from the gutter. He has to get rid of that hair style and clean up!

Believe it or not, I've revised my opinion of his hosting abilities. I really expected more.

I still think he's a good singer, and not a bad actor. But as a host, well....he kinda sucks.

I have to agree with you on Billy Ray Cyrus hosting the show. The whole show seems 'dumbed down' this season. There's no excitement from the host, even the contestants look confused at times during the quick chit chat with BRC on stage. Since the voting doesn't start til after the show, wouldn't it be better to recap all the performers at the end with their respective phone and text numbers. It adds nothing to the show to hear BRC repeat after each contestant what we can all read on the screen. Have anyone tried to vote more than once on NBC.com???? I must be missing something because it asks me to retype all my info for ATT each to submit a vote. I gave up!!!! Is there a trick to this that I don't know of??? .

I did not DVR this episode but did watch it live and if memory serves me correct, they did do a recap at the end that was endorsed/blurbed with AT&T recap something something....


BRC is very robotic/boring with the text that is given to him. He reads it with no emotion or range.

Nah. They're on vacation until Labor Day or when the important fall season kicks in. They don't care about summer shows. Execs don't read message boards anyway - only interns.

I like Billy Ray Cyrus. I think he and his family seem like genuinely nice and good people. I have read so many nice things about them in Country Weekly. I think that host doesn't suit him well. God bless him for trying though. He certainly belongs on that stage more than a bunch of them.

I totally have to agree....I can not stand to see Billy Ray pretend to know what he is doing any longer! The sight of him makes me not want to watch the show. NBC, how did you ever pick him? He has no personality, spunk or originality. He won't even get close to the contestants, so the camera has to pan out to get everyone in the shot! What a complete disappointment. Billy Ray should have some sort of natural ability in front of an audience he supposed to a musician for god's sake. Take him off the air to stop our suffering & his, and put someone else in his spot.
