Plus, I forgot who it was who said it last week, but the comment was made that NBC wouldn't actually pull the show because of low ratings, but they might start knocking contestants off quicker in order to get it over with more quickly. Whoever said that, BRAVO! Looks like you might be right.

In every reality show I've ever seen they always do a double elimination round one night...sometimes even two, besides you just said in the other thread the show was entertaining so we don't want it to go faster!

Yes, Blake Shelton will be the guest, but what they're not telling you is that there will also be jugglers, fire-eaters, dogs and ponies, and a guest appearance by Chuck Mangione (King of the Hill reference there).

I've heard from a reliable source the "Dynamic Duo" is a handful for the show and other contestants, just as you would expect from high school age kids. They should go....but i think the voters still give them some hope.
Tommy, Allyson, Coffey are in the most danger, good singing dont seem to help
Melissa much, bottom two, bottom three... previous weeks.

I am thinking Allyson and Tommy followed by Coffey. I kind of hope the duo and trio go pretty soon. I just don't get the feel of a Nashville Star out from either group. Maybe my notion of a real country/western star is someone I can go listen to in a small cantina when I am tossing back some tequilla with beer chasers. I just don't see either group standing up on the stage singing about the gritty stuff in life.
Don't get me wrong. I would stand and listen to their act at the county fair because they do have some nice harmony and sweet voices. Just don't expect me to buy their album. Now if Angela were to produce her own album and distribute on iTunes, I am so there.

Jose Cuervo, you are a friend of mine.
I like to drink you with a little salt and lime,
Then I kiss all the cowboys, then I shoot out the lights,
Then I dance on the bar, then I start up a fight.
And I have had PBR although it really isn't my beer of choice

I remember when there seemed to be serious talk of the label putting out a duet CD with Angela and Zac, but then they said they would put out a CD from Angela, too

. The Wally World "special" just didn't count.
Wonder if this year's winner will fare any better? I have a feeling it will come down to Gabe or Ashlee unless the producers do creative editing although I'm not sure quite what order the rest will leave.

I think Coffey will be here for the duration, Even though he sings POP Country or Soul/Blues Country, he has what it take to become a professional artist and a popular one. He also shows his desire in his performances and for his little girl. I hope he continues. Shawn is doing much better now, she just needs the right music, more of Shania Twain sound.

It could also be that they are trying to cut the show down to an hour. Fewer contestants helps them achieve that goal faster.
It would probably help ratings at this point.

The bubble gum twins - I love it!! They NEED to go home. They are just painful to listen to and those outfits uuuggghhhh

The trio is also bad, bad, bad. Don't call yourself a lead singer if you can't lead. It was pretty sad how her sisters had to stand there like her protectors. Tommy is a joke. I'm surprised one of his buttons hasn't popped off his clothes and took out a judges eye. Enough with the being mean. I think everyone else is very talented in their own ways. Melissa has a fabulous voice but it would be nice if she would actually sing a country song. It is hard to tell if she can actually sing country. She definately is getting the raw end of the deal though. She should be in the top 3 not the bottom. Allyson and Coffey are disposable. Neither of them really thrills me. Gabe is wonderful. He is country all the way. I really like Shawn but she is an emotional mess. What is with the crying and shaking. It is hard for me to not be biased when it comes to Ashlee. She is my parents neighbor. Although I don't personally know her i've got to root for the hometown girl! Plus I know how hard she has worked to get where she is. I hope she makes it big!

My guess is Alyson, Sophie and Laura. Even tho Tommy's version of Maniac was not country enough, he did a great job last Monday. I think it was his best performance so far. I don't think we have heard Coffey shine like he normally does and I hope he sticks around and is given a few more chances to perform. Pearl Heart performed great this week and they are growing on me. Their mentoring session with Jeffrey did wonders. What a great guy. We shall see!

I just realized that I was stupid enough to state my speculations of why they're leaving without saying who I want to go home

. Definitely I want Coffey gone, I haven't liked him from the start, but his rendition of "Umbrella" just...OMG, YOU BUTCHER!!!!

He didn't make it country at all and it wasn't sung well either. I also have to say I'd like to get rid of Allyson. She freaks me out! Honestly! Also, as a lot of people have stated, she is inconsistent and even her good performances don't thrill me a bit. Yo-yo acts not welcome! I understand the problems people have with Tommy, and I have to say myself, I would be right there with you if it weren't for the fact he's a likable guy. And I think the bubble gum girls are cute, not pro stuff but cute. So yeah, bye bye Coffey and Allyson if I get my way.
As for my favorites, I really only have one and that's Melissa. I just love her and she can definitely sing. I have to admit, if Gabe loosened up and would allow himself to put more of his own flare on songs (I'm sorry, in the first episode I thought he was too similar to King George and his performance this time showed me he has a traditional sound, but it is more unique), he could be amazing. As for everyone else, I don't really care one way or another as long as they don't butcher the songs I love. I'm just kinda underwhelmed by these contestants. yeah, that's my two cents.

I realize that I am quickly becoming the most-hated-man in North America because of my blunt statements about the show and its contestants. I won't defend myself, because (insert "Battle Hymn of the Republic" here) I am entitled to my opinions, and in the grand scheme of things, none of this really matters. It's all in good fun. Period. I have said over and over that I really appreciate the fervor that a lot of posters put into their fandom for these performers, but my opinion is that none of these people deserve a major label recording contract. They're just not strong enough performers. I can go to several clubs, bars, churches, opries, etc. here in Texas and find at least 12 other people who are better overall performers (singing ability, performance, stage presence) than these people. Like many of you, I find it impossible to believe that THIS was the best that America had to offer when it comes to country music singers. My disappointment shows in my posts.
Now, that said, I'll get back on topic. I've been doing a lot of thinking about who should go home this week (maybe I just need to get a life, huh?), and I have come to the conclusion that I really don't think anyone is "safe". I think that Gabe and Ashlee have the least chance of going home, but the lack of talent here tells me that it really is a roll of the dice. Any one of these performers could be the next one to go home. I just wonder if that many people are actually voting, to where one bad day could send a contestant home...

ElBurro,
I pretty much summed up the same thoughts in another post, no one is safe at this point. I think Gabe has propelled himself to the top spot, but no performance has been overwhelming to me, I kinda like him as long as he dont try to be George S. Chef Ramsey would put it like this "Gabe your the best of the worst" "now go back to your room and nominate two contestants to go home, and tell me why"
Ive seen lots of performers in the Nashville Honky Tonks, they ususally have one thing in common...they try to sound like someone else.
The ones that have a unique sound and style move on to bigger things, if they can sing ofcourse. Ive talked to some pretty good performers, in my opinon, while visiting there. Allways asked them, why are you singing for tips? That is all they have, some have been doing it for over 20 years. They have tried and failed to get noticed.
These so called contests are not to find the top new singer, they are for the networks to make money...they dont give a rats behind if the singer dont go on and become a super star, just as long they get ratings and advertisers. I think we will see lots of twists and shake ups this season, trying to find a formula to make it work.
I'm still hoping that several contestants will start to shine a bit more to make this more entertaining. the 60 second songs dont help at all, too much time is being spent on the judges ego's and new albums.

On second thought, this would really shake up the show.
Have everyone perform....then announce the winner of the most votes from the week before. That person or persons (unlikely) will be told by Billy Ray they have a choice to make. "Nominate two for elimination and why." Wouldnt that be a shocker? Then the judges would make the final deliberation, fighting would ensue between the judges, the fans would be stirred up more....people would tune in just to see the fighting, the heck with the singing.
I like Hell's Kitchen!

I've noticed they just say "millions of votes". As much as the show seems to be trying to clone AI, I'd think they'd give numbers if they were real proud of the amount of votes cast. When NS was on USA, "millions of votes" were cast. I think you are probably right in that no one is safe. Gabe, Melissa & Ashlee probably come the closest. If that were the case, I might have to change my mind about who's going home. Gabe just doesn't seem like he could get mean enough. I'd watch out for Alyson. In my opinion, Alyson and Tommy will go home. The cupcake twins will probably not go home just because America thinks that they are cute, but eventually, it will come down to who is the most talented and they will get the boot as well. Alyson just seems like she doesn't have what it takes to make the right decisions about her career. Her last performance was akin to a really bad lounge singer. Tommy, is the same way when it comes to making the right decisions. Tommy refused to take the advice which he was given; which was, you will have to make this song country. He didn't even act like that was even on his mind when he was singing. I also think he kind of has a cocky attitude sometimes. I am sure that if you are going to make it in the country music business, you have to take advice from people who have been there and know what it takes to succeed. All in all, though, he is really not a country artist so I will be glad to see him go, if he does. If I had my way Tommy, the cupcake girls, and Coffey would all be shown the door.

Although I am currently saying that it's a roll of the dice as to who goes home this week, I don't know if I would agree with the Lollipop Girls being safe this week. If these boards are any indication (and they may not be, I don't know), the "tweens" aren't watching this show, and if that's the case, they aren't burning up their cell phones voting for the ones to whom they relate to most. If these boards are any indication, it's an older group watching the show, with less tolerance for the unpolished cuteness that those girls (and Pearl Heart, as well) have. The maturity of the viewership is why I do think that Gabe and Melissa have a chance to win the whole thing.
But, I still vote for some sort of physical elimination. A wrestling match. Maybe an obstacle course. Have a "contestants and their pets" night. A bake-off. None of those can be any further from country music than what we have already seen.

I say Tommy and Allison they had the weakest performances last week.
One thing about Pearl Hart though is that if you've ever seen them in Nashville before this show you'd notice that the lead singer aspect is new to them they normally swap singers per different songs and sing in 3 part harmony pretty often. I thing the whole there HAS to be a lead singer thing is being pushed by the producers or the judges.

they are not???? When i saw who was on the show this year i was all jazzed

Speaking of "America's Got Talent", did you happen to see the week before last when that little 4 year old girl came on to sing? OMG she sounded so sweet it almost brought tears into my eyes. She sang a full verse of a pop song and didnt forget a word which is pretty good for a 4 year old and she even did a pretty good job on the high notes, in a baby sort of way. One of my friends and I always watch it while we're on the phone together and we were both sitting there sniffing tears back...heh! By the way, I love all 3 judges on that show too!

Even in a very weak season, there is a separation between the top four (Gabe, Melissa, Ashlee, Pearl Heart) and this bottom five, and I'm throwing Pearl Heart in there grudgingly.

I've said that it's a tough call this week, and I still can't narrow it down to two, but I do believe that the two will come from the following five:
Tommy
Coffey
The Lollipop Girls
Shawn
Alyson

I don't blame you on that one. I am not crazy about Pearl Heart, although they did ok. My top two are Gabe & Ashlee. I like Melissa too in spite of her singing Im every woman, which I HATED, but i have the feeling they have very little control over the songs they sing this year. I keep going back and forth on Shawn ... I wish she would stop shaking so much.
