I love the black team. Why does Jillian always get only a few contestants left?

Season 1 Jillian had 2 of 3 finalists- Ryan and Kelly and the win with Ryan
Season 2 Jillian had 2 of 3 finalists- Matt and Seth and the win with Matt
Season 3- doesn't count she wasn't there.
Season 4 Jillian had the top 4 finalists and the win obviously with Billy G as she wiped the floor with the red and blue teams
Season 5 Jillian had 2 of 3 finalists- Ali and Kelly and the win with Ali
Season 6 Jillian has just one and that's all she will need to take yet another win!

She also had all the at home winners for each season she's been on. She is the best:)

Heather Hansen, the Utahn who was on the show's third season, told me in 2007 that doctors monitor the contestants, "but you get a lot of pressure from the trainers to push your body beyond its limits. The doctor would say, 'Don't do squats, hills or inclines,' but then the trainer would say, 'We're climbing up a sand hill today."' Hence, she left the ranch with a torn calf muscle, bursitis in her knees and tendonitis in her quadriceps muscles, making it hard to continue exercising. So I think folks would be wise to dial-down those "last-chance workouts" if they're trying them at home.

You can't safely take people who way over 200, 300 and sometimes 400 lbs and expect them to run up a hill. I'm amazed that nobody's had a heart attack and died yet. I'm not impressed when Jillian is screaming at these people during the workouts. Sure, push them. Don't let them wimp out. But to work somebody til they're throwing up? That's dangerous.

When someone works to the point where they throw up, it's usually toxins that are being released from the system. Toxins have only four ways out: vomit, sweat, urine, feces. When you exercise you release toxins that are stored in your tissues into your system. Vomiting is a fantastic way to rid yourself of those toxins. That's why you may vomit when you have a stomach flu or food poisoning.

On another note, and this may have previously been noted: Look at the difference in toning between Michelle, trained by Jillian, and Vicky, trained by Bob. Both have lost about the same amount of weight. But Michelle has gained so much more muscle and thus has lost so much more fat. Since muscle burns something like 10 times more calories an hour than fat in just keeping you going, Michelle will have a huge advantage when she gets home. That might be why she posted the big numbers late in the game. Her metabolism is in high gear. Plus, her balance, strength, and coordination are incredible. Balancing on that balance ball with one leg with the other leg stretched out behind her and then doing chest flies (I think it was) is tremendously difficult. Jillian gets results. I really like Bob, and his team loses pounds, but overall, what are they really losing: fat, muscle, water? I'd like to see them go back to measuring body fat instead of just using the scale as a measure.

OH I would LOVE for them to measure body fat!! I went from a size 12 to an 8 and gained 2 pounds! I had lost quite a bit but knew I needed the strength training. If I hadn't been measuring I would have been sorely disappointed. And WOW could I eat when that muscle came on. I was hungry all the time, but I tried to make good choices like whole wheat pasta and lots and lots of lean protein and veggies.

I've always noticed a HUGE difference in the people's bodies between Bob and Jillian's teams. I think Jillian works more on building muscle, which is why at first she seems to get creamed, but at the end of the day that muscle is what gives her a champion. Every.Time.

Congratulations on the muscle gain. You've got the right idea. Since muscle burns about 10 times more calories per pound than does fat, just replace 4 pounds of fat with four pounds of muscle and you can eat an extra 200 calories a day, or not eat those extra 200 calories a day and lose 20 pounds in a year. It's all about body composition.

I always thought that if I were on the show I'd want Bob as a trainer, but my eyes have been opened. Jillian gets results that last.

You've got to love Jillian. Talk about integrity. (That's with a capital I-N-T-E-G-R-I-T-Y !) I get emotional just thinking about the love that woman pours into her trainees. I wish I could be on the show just to get a dose of that love! Unfortunately, I'm not big enough to be considerd for the show. I wish there was another show for people (like me) who need that extra help to believe in themsleves.

Agreed! her contestants always win.. because she trains them not only physically, but really digs deep emotionally so they know they are strong enough to do it and keep it off!
jillianforthewin
Rooting 100 percent for Michelle tomorrow night! I was listening to Jillian's radio show yday morning.. and she said she was up all night texting back and forth with Michelle, who was desperately getting in her last work out before they weighed her for the finale biggrin.gif I think she can pull it off!!!!!!!

I don't know which trainer I would want. Bob would probably just be confused, thinking I fell off the short side of "special" because I'd be too busy staring/drooling to do anything he said.

Jillian rocks, but I have big authority issues. I can't stand people telling me what to do, and yelling at me? Aww helllllllllllll no. Then again, I'm a little bit crazy so we might get along just fine...lol

Without hesitation I'd want Jillian if I were a contestant. She reminds me of my high school and club soccer coaches. They always taught me to push, push, push through my limits. I was always the biggest girl on my team (soccer girls are tiny!). I always thought I shouldn't be expected to perform as well as my teammates. My coaches were the ones that taught me that I was every bit as capable of running a 6-minute mile as they were. They were the ones that told me that the workout only begins after I am out of my comfort zone. They held us to unbelievable standards.

One coach even told a girl who had just vomitted after running a few laps: "Good, now you will feel better... and you better run better, too."

I imagine Jillian is the same way. She is tough, and even though she is sometimes harsh with the contestants, it is only because she expects great things from them, just like my coaches' attitude with us. And it worked.

Not only was our team undefeated my junior year (my last year to play), no one scored on us, either smile.gif
Swim4life107
On top of that, Jillian also trained the winner of the Aussie version (even though he switched 3/4 through to Bob because he is a sexist) as well as the at home winner. On the Special Edition season, she trained 5/7 of the teams. That's the only time she's ever lost. Well her/bob trained a black team on the aussie version this summer and they got wiped out before the finals, but they also had a considerable less amount of contestants.

Congratulations Jillian on another deserved Victory for your team.
If I was on the show, no question trained by Jillian, sorry Bob. I just find that even though
she is all in your face, ^^ as the above person stated she dig emotionally, which I don't see Bob do often.
Rooting for team Jillian always, season 7.

Jillian is awesome. I love her and always root for her contestants to win. Still, I think I'd prefer Bob as a trainer. I adore Bob <3

i luv jillian's style of training...obviously bootcamp trainin isnt for everyone but hey look what it does to people in the service...some people need the "tough love" otherwise they will continue doin what they are doing. others are too soft or too timid or whatever you wanna call it so "tough love" wouldnt work for them. it would make them cry and want to eat more. they would be better with a trainer like bob or just doing a class like step aerobics. but some need or desire the challenge and the pain and the "tough love" to achieve what they want. personally for me tough love is better and its helped me lose 50lbs and i have 15lbs left to go...(my bf's friend does bootcamp style training and im lucky that its free for me but both my bf and his friend are army guys and have been for 4 years...toughhhh love) but i mean both bob and jillian get results....they just have different styles of doing so and both have their not-so-good moments. so people, stop complaining about jillian being mean....she is who she is and does what she does and if you dont like it well then find a trainer to feel inspired by without bad mouthing one that someone else may look up to..goodness ph34r.gif

Thats probably the most difficult stats to get at this point. Once you are off the show, and in two years, you dont have to consult or be a part of anything related to biggest loser.
So former contestants dont have to show themselves. I know Matt said he put on 60 pounds in an interview. Suzy put on some (she had a couple of children).

Yes Michelle was more toned and in some ways it does have to do with trainers, however every persons body makeup is different and will earn different results. So you really can not say that Jillians Peeps are toned better etc.. Just sayin.
Serenitynoww
To be fair to Bob - Ali was trained by both trainers before she was voted off the ranch. Then she was exclusivly with Jillian for the rest of the way.

In regards to after the ranch - that would be tough to follow (even though Ed insists that Bob's players have been far better off!). Both Matt and Suzi have had difficulties so it would be a wash there. Eric has gained some weight as well. I guess I believe that stat should not count against the trainers.

It really shows more of Ed's stupidity to say such a thing.

Thanks, was just wondering. It would be very interesting to see if what
the trainers taught them at the ranch stays with what certain percentage, and what trainer had the best overall effect on the "Losers". From experience, I know how easy it is to put weight back on after it's lost, sad01.gif

Does anyone think that Jillian's new picture at the top of the page is hot? I LOVE the fact that she isn't smiling, but she totally it. She's just yummy.

Did anyone else realize how toned Michelle is? I mean, yeah Heba looked alright (minus the fact that she needed a bra) but her arms were 100% untoned...that's what working with Jillian gets you!

Jillian's "contestants" and "members" have the information to lose the weight and keep it off. I personally know of at least 30 women who have lost significant amounts of weight and have kept it off. (I videotaped them last month at a bootcamp).

Check the success stories on her website. I happen to be one of them:) Check myspace and see what her former contestants look like. Ask them what they think of her. They all pretty much say I LOVE JILLIAN.

Anyone who has actually had the opportunity to interact with her loves her. Tough love baby! However, she is also one of the most caring persons I have ever met...

Of course tv is different than real life. That is something to keep in mind obviously!

Hey, MQ, tell it like it is!!! What people don't seem to realize is that Jillian is the world's biggest cheerleader. All they hear is the screaming, never see the support. At least they did show some of that with Michelle. What people do with the education she provides is THEIR choice. How many times have we heard her say she can educate, she can motivate, she can give her energy, but they have to save their own lives, she can't do it for them? They have to do it for themselves. NC

Jillians 30 day shred book:
I posted this on another forum too.

I bought the book. It's a wealth of knowledge even for those who want to lose more than the 10-20 pounds.
It takes you through your type of body (oxidizer), whether you are slow, balanced or fast. Carbs-proteins-fats etc. Then tells you what kinds of foods you should eat according to that. She also talks about glyclemic load in foods, blood sugar. All these facts about the body that I never realized. She gives facts about vitamins and supplements, pros and cons.
The last part of her book is about shedding the water weight the last week and can associate that with the 'biggest loser' week before the finale, the contestants must have done that.

I havent started any recipes or any workouts re: the book, wanted to read it first then attempt.
I recommend this for any of you who want the scoop and knowledge. Jillian is a genuis!!

Jillian Michaels, is just a bad ass chick. She is awesome. When I go to LA next year, I would love to meet her, and challenge her to an arm wrestling match. I would say push ups but she can do one hand so I won't go there just yet lol. My friend is in America now looking for both Jillian's books for me .. hopefully she can bring them back for me, I still feel even though I have reached my goal weight .. still need to be constantly educated ..

I absolutely love Jillian to pieces - if I were on the show I would want her as my trainer - I couldn't handle being on Bob's team - he's too placid and wishy-washy - Jillian is all about tough love and getting the job done. She has been where these people are and knows what has to be done. She is not doing it to be mean - she is trying to get them to see that they can do what she is asking of them!

In their heads she would be yelling, "DID I TELL YOU TO WASH THAT PLATE? WASH IT NOW! i DON'T CARE IF YOUR ARMS FALL OFF. Heba's arms looked like that because she was so friggen huge to start with. (I can say that, because I was just as friggen huge a year ago...) When your arms are the size of an average person's upper thigh, that skin just does NOT snap back tight again, at least not in a couple of months' time...no matter WHO your trainer is. My arms look like hell. I think I will have Heba-arms even when I reach my goal weight. It goes with the territory of weighing close to 300 pounds.

She was the biggest woman this last season and it will take some time, if ever, for her arms to get in shape.
I'm close to my BMI normal weight and I go to the gym every day and there's still loose skin on my arms and legs (thighs mostly). My calves and forearms look great but I got a good deal of loose skin and am just going to live with it.

If only everyone had their own Jillian.lol. Jillian is an amazing trainer. In the earlier seasons she caught my interest by being tough and getting things done no matter what it took. Now she only makes me like her more by seeing the personal interest she takes in the contestants. She really shows how caring she is by looking inside of the contestant and helping solve the deeper issue behind their poor eating habbits. She really is a super trainer.

Just curious as to why she recommends caffeine supplements? Increase metabolism or increase stamina before working out?

Cup of coffee or two squares of dark chocolate (85% cacao and 2 grams sugar) does wonders for me. Heck if I'm going to put caffeine into my body, I wanna enjoy the process. wink.gif

You should really know what they do to your system and also know that the FDA doesn't regulate supplements so you have no idea of the dosage you're taking.
So its in your best interest to seek "medical" advise before taking them. Some of them can and have had deadly side effects.
And when I mean "medical advise" I don't mean the jack leg who is selling them.

Taking aim at "Sore Losers"
Trainer Jillian Michaels of "The Biggest Loser" reports that partway through shooting of Season 7 of the NBC show-which premiers Jab. 6-the contestants are not acting as ruthlessly as some on Season 6. "Yet. But it's definitelytaking a turn," she adds. "Last season was unprecedented....I'm not going to be diplomatic about how nasty the people on Bob's team were," she says, speaking of trainer Bob Harper. In fact, "Bob's team always gets like this. They become very focused on destroying the other teams, instead of getting healthy." So is Harper to blame? "I definitely think Bob instigates it, and then they feed off of it. He gets them too focused on destroying my team, instead of getting healthy, even if it means making poor decisions for themselves. When we're not competing, I think he's a great guy, but we have completely different styles. You'll never hear me talk about going after Bob's people. My focus is on overcoming obstacles and gaining inner strength."

Weeeeeeeeeell, I hate to admit it, but she is right. I loves me some Bob, but usually by mid to late season I am wondering where lovable Bob went. Remember the "Pride on 3" guys? Season 3 is about the only season I don't remember getting a little bit disgusted by Bob's team, and that's just because Kim had people that I wanted off my TV almost as much as I wanted Heba and Vicky off my TV.

Then I get Bobnesia and wub.gif him all over again at the beginning of each new season. Now that's talent! Bob, not me... smile.gif

What? Didn't someone tell Jillian that they were all really nice peoples simply made to look bad by the editing crew? It's not like Jillian is a reliable source.... sly.gif

I LOVED Bob season 3. He was sweet the entire time. I remember him saying to Eric "Hey, where'd you get those guns?". He was such a sweetheart. It's true though, every season with Jillian, he manages to create that 'Blue' cult mentality that becomes somewhat irritating. It's funny because at the beginning of the season I'm usually rooting for one of Bob's people to win but by the end I find myself rooting for Jillian's team. Odd thing that. Although Jillian did have her cult-like moments also. Namely when Amy (season 4) joined the black team and Isabeau voted her off to keep Brian and Jillian was pissed. I probably would have kept Brian also but Jillian wanted them all to vote him off.

She plays the game -
her team never has the infighting that bob's has. They implode for a reason.

I have never heard Jillian chant "no blue shirts" over and over during a work out.

And you've never heard Bob's team chant "no blue shirts", but you did hear them say something about getting rid of the "black shirts"... LOL

Seriously, Jill does play the game to a certain level BUT she doesn't go down to Bob's level. She doesn't target Bob's team and talk about getting rid of the "blue" team, if she did, we'd have seen it by now. She doesn't want to loose her team members, BUT she doesn't bully them in regards to who to vote for. Let's be honest, if it weren't for Bob, Amy more than likely would have made it to the final four. He did a disservice to her because he put his pride above her individual needs.

So tell me, what did Vicky learn other than how to play the game - which she didn't win? And why did it take Bob so long to realize Vicky really wasn't getting it?

Just some random thoughts...

I'd love to see a season where Jillian and Bob were on the same team the entire season. Where they worked side-by-side to teach the contestants - they would get the best of both worlds and how can any of them not be the winners?! I'd also like to see them put in rules where when it's obvious someone "cheated" [ie. water loaded] that they are automatically put below the yellow line the first time and the second time - out the door!
