Jeff Goldblum: The Media Diet, Telluride 2008
"Jeff Goldblum is at Telluride to promote his new film, Adam Resurrected, directed by Paul Schrader. The film follows the story of a Holocaust survivor who also happens to be a clown. Committed to an asylum after the war, he becomes a ring leader of sorts. On the opening day of the festival Goldblum was graciously hugging young fans and striking odd poses for snap-shots. We got a chance to ask him about his media intake, which includes a substantial amount homework from Schrader..."

Since I also don't care for the female partner, Wheeler, I'll be skipping these episodes. A darn shame, since I've loved CI since the first episode ... but I only have eyes for Goren/Eames now.

I hope they don't try to make Det. Nichols and Det. Wheeler become romanticly involved. Didn't they try that with Wheeler and Logan and that didn't work out! Leave the romance out and stick with the crime, like you do with Goren and Eames.
I'm not a fan of Alicia Witt's or Jeff Goldblum, but I'm going to give it a try. To be honest with you, I'll take every other week of Goren/Eames, instead of Vince/Kate quitting and then we have nothing. Plus, let's face it, both Alicia Witt and Jeff Goldblum are trying to fill some pretty big feet (Vince's and Kate's and no pun was intended) and the powers that be are trying to keep Kate, Vince and us fans happy and that can't be easy.
So, here's your choice people, either turn your tv on when Goldblum and Witt are on, or Criminal Intent will be cancelled because ratings have fallen. I'm not telling you that you have to watch it, but you have to have your tv turned to it. If you dislike the two actors that much go for a ride or read a book or call someone or go play on your computer, but make sure L&O, CI is on. If I'm not mistaken, it's a ratings game.

Tuned In: Jeff Goldblum takes on the law
Pittsburgh native joins 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' cast
Sunday, November 02, 2008
By Rob Owen, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
"...Nichols arrives following the departure of Det. Mike Logan (Chris Noth), whose absence will be addressed.
"Wheeler mentions something about Logan casually, the level at which he was burnt out," said Robert Nathan, a Johnstown native and the new executive producer for the series' Nichols-Wheeler episodes. "But we'll bring it back in a bigger way later in the season. We'll talk more about where Logan is and why he left and she will begin to reveal some of what she believes is going to happen with Logan."
Nathan said it's too soon to say if viewers will see Logan again on "Criminal Intent" (9 p.m. Friday), but he hopes Noth will come back as a guest star. Right now his primary concern is introducing Goldblum's new character...."

FAMED FACE OF 'THE FLY' RECALLS EATING DIRT FOR A LIFE-CHANGING ACTING EXPERIENCE IN 'ADAM RESURRECTED'
By LARRY GETLEN
"JEFF Goldblum has been a regular big-screen presence since forgetting his mantra in 1977's "Annie Hall." The Pittsburgh native went on to make his mark as oily but charismatic anti-heroes in "The Fly" and "Jurassic Park." But little in his past hinted at the intensity he displays in Friday's "Adam Resurrected." Directed by "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull" screenwriter Paul Schrader, the film, based on a controversial Israeli novel, stars Goldblum as Adam Stein, one of Europe's top entertainers before the onset of the Holocaust. He is sent to the camps and taken as a personal pet - literally - by a sadistic SS officer played by Willem Dafoe. By the late '50s, Stein has gone somewhat crazy, and "Adam Resurrected" tells the story of what he endured..."

I'm a big Jeff Goldblum fan. I haven't really watched the show in a long while, but I plan to start back to watching it... to check him [Jeff] out. I think he's sexy in a very quirky way. If you're reading this. 'Jeff I love you.'

Oh, don't tell my husband.

Jeff is too sexy. I met him once after a Broadway play, and he was so nice. Very patient with everyone signing autographs. Just seems like a cool person.
Oh, I like that other weird guy... on the show too. Not sure that actor's name... the one who's the know it all. Reminds me of my husband.

Signed (In love with Mr. Goldblum... but not stalking.... that's not legal).

Just want to say how much I think Jeff Goldblum rocks as Zach! I've never been a fan of Goren, and the Chris Noth character was just okay. Always did love Eames, however.
But Jeff brings a natural acting ability and a quiet intelligence that doesn't scream, "Headcase!"
I will definitely catch or record all epis now that he's a castmember.

Hey enough with shots at Goren and Eames. Enough with the shots at Nichols and Wheeler. I like both sets of detectives. Nichols, while not exactly to the same degree as Goren, is an analytical detective. In some ways he is also a bit like Charlie Crews from the late series Life. Logan was more of a hunch playing detective--don't get me wrong--I liked him but I just felt he was a bit like a fish out of water in the CI squad.
Someone mentioned something about how the writers tried to create a Logan/Wheeler romance. I never got that feeling. I don't see a romance develping between the Nichols/Wheeler team. I don't think it would work. There just isn't that dynamic going between the two of them.
stefanl
Jun 7 2009, 09:13 PM
I think the writers are trying too hard to make Nichols "quirky" and are damaging his credibility for me. They had to play catch up ball after the first set of writers were fired and it just seems like they're throwing so much stuff into the air that they can't juggle it all believably. They did the same thing with Barrack, had her mumbling under her breath, speaking six languages and reading into Logan's eagerness all in the first episode. This time, Nichols is schmoozing the locals, playing like a concert pianist and diagnosing psychoses before the third commercial break.
We learned about Goren's idiosyncracies slowly. Found out about the vast wealth of his knowledge a little at a time. They're just trying to establish the character in too a short period of time and giving him too perfect of a pedigree. His father can't just be a psychiatrist. He has to be a world class psychiatrist, published and held in awe by the guy who happened to be responsible for the storyline for "In Treatment". It's all too pat and perfect to be believable.

I must say that Jeff Goldblum's character is growing on me. I liked Chris Noth a lot, but Goldblum does add a fresh and quirky character. I like watching Jeff work.
I would have been devastated, though, had there been a replacement for Vincent D'Onofrio. For me, he is so integral to the show; he is synonymous with the show IMO. I also think Vince has created one of the most complex, fascinating and intriguing television characters I can recall (and I've been around the dial a few times).
Bottom line, I do look forward to seeing where Jeff Goldblum's capable hands take his new character.

I was a little surprised at how much I look forward to his episodes since I'm a huge fan of Noth and D'Onofrio. Who knew it could get even better? And I like the female detectives on CI much better than the lawyers on L&O, they seem like what they are - models turned actress.
