I entered the ticket lottery, as I'm sure a lot of people here did. Does anyone know when we would find out if we were picked? As the first show is approaching in a few weeks and the lottery system is by computer, I would think that the results would come fairly quickly, but I don't know...

That's a good question. I'd give it a week or two (By that time the show will be back) before giving up hope.

But regardless of the results of the lottery, I plan to go to at least a few shows this season. I hope to see you there.

Hi. We too sent many postcard requests- that is what i was told to do. Anyhow we have not heard a thing. Not even sure how you would be notified.

Im sad that we requested tickets via a postcard. That is what someone from the nbc building told me over the phone. we are dying to go.

I believe they ONLY use an email lottery now. It's a precaution, I believe, after the anthrax scares at the GE building. Anyhoo, you still have one day to enter via email, just send your contact details to snltickets@nbcuni.com and hope for the best.

Thanks for the quick response. We did send a few emails last night. Heres hoping. You would think postcards would be a good way to run it. Anyhoo.. assuming we do not win does anyone know the closest hotel to where you wait in line by 49th st? There is one that the tech people stay at I think which is right there.

I'm not sure where the tech people stay, but there are a couple in the area. If you want the best deal in the area though, I'd go with "The Time" it's at 49th and 8th, literally two blocks away from the standby line. I have heard that if you book through one of the online hotel booking sites like HotWire that they have even better deals. It's a pretty minimalistic, modern place with a young crowd (and a decent bar), but if you just need a place to crash, get washed up, and get dressed, it'll do the trick much cheaper than just about any other place in the city.

I'm sure there are other places, but in midtown prices are off the charts, so it's best to save you money and put it to good use where it matters...like on comfortable camping chairs for sitting in line tongue.gif

I hope that helps.

Thanks again. I checked out that hotel online and it looked nice. Are we the only people who count on these tickets- Is is a waste? How long have you waited for tickets? Do you know how many seats there are- they probally go fast. Still crossing my fingers!!!!

You may receive a reply pretty much at any time during the season. You will probably get 3 to 4 weeks notice of the show you've been chosen for. Last year, I received a notice dated the day after Christmas for the January 31st show. So if you don't get something in the next week, don't despair. It'll come out of the blue, and the sender id shows up on my computer as "tickets."

Good luck everyone, I hope you get to go. biggrin.gif

I'm entering the ticket lottery next year. I'll turn legal in March, and I'm ridiculously excited to go.

You should be! Now that I've been to a taping, I can't believe I waited so long after turning 16 to finally go myself. I hope the ticket gods smile upon you when you enter.

I sent my email request on 8/8 and was notified on 8/26 that I had been awarded 2 tickets to the Thurs 9/17 show. Arrival time is 4:45.

Good luck.

This might sound like a stupid question, but I was wondering about something. When I sent in my e-mail for the lottery, I don't think I gave it a subject. Is that going to affect anything?

It shouldn't. The only thing the official instructions say is to include your contact details in the email. And seeing as though the email address is used for nothing but SNL tickets, I'd say you have just as good a shot as any of us of getting tickets.

Just got my email for the season opener on Sept 26. Thats only 10 days notice. Thats crazy, doesnt give me much time to prepare, i.e. money. I gotta fly from IL. When I won in 2007 i got 3 weeks notice.

I've been trying for years to get tickets. Hopefully I'll win this year. getting a little frustrated that I haven't won yet.
