First off I'm very excited that this show will be coming to NBC. Now are you going to watch?
The movie left a lot of questions open. Who is KITT's mechanic going to be? Will they have a semi or will the Globemaster have to drop him and he glides wherever he is going? hehe. How many episodes before Jay Leno makes a cameo? What will they do with David now that they have cut strings? Will Ford be a good partner and make a played down KITT for the market with Synco even KITT options for the mustang product line? I have alot of hopes for this has it's the only thing that has me excited about NBC in a while.

I will give the show a tryout. The actor Justin Bruening was on All My Children and it's fun to see him in another role- on primetime. That's a rare thing. He did well in the movie and the show should be fun if done with some smarts and heart.
Good Luck, Justin!

I'm just hoping there will be some references to TKR in the new show.
And kinda like how KITT(2k) was pulling the strings in TKR, maybe KARR has survived(his cpu appeared to still be active after blowing up...), and has become another Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
Oh, and if KARR does return in some way, Peter Cullen should be providing the voice yet again.

When I was a kid, this was my favorite show. I would go insane if I couldn’t watch it. I had a little matchbox car of a firebird that I scratched all the paint off and colored it black with a red strip up front. I didn’t speak to my sister for weeks when she dropped it into the trash can. Man I never was so hurt.
I say this to express my love for Night Rider. However, I think you guys making this series are making huge mistakes that just turn my stomach and leave me disappointed and disgusted.
One, don’t make this series an infomercial for Ford. That is so weak and such a sellout move. It’s a constant reminder that this is a show on TV and not a show to dive into and get lost in the imagination. I love shows that make me forget “it’s just a show”
Two, for the love of all that’s good, get rid of the dumb AI’s (KITT’s) conformations of what he is doing. Just role with it, and leave it up to us to see what’s going on. It is completely a bad idea. I don’t want to hear KITT saying all the time “Transformation Complete” OMG, how generic is that?
Do you remember Airwolf? That was also an awesome show. Remember when they tried to bring it back? Didn’t last long, did it? That’s because it was so fake, it made you laugh through the whole thing. Bad actors and bad CG were its downfall losing all emotional connection we had with the old chopper.
You are doing the same here. Cut down so much on the impossible CG that is so fake looking, and add some kind of emotional connection with the KITT and Mike’s relationship for your audience and loose the rest of the Fords. Seriously, the Movie you made showed other Fords keeping up with KITT in a chase…Are you serious? This is a generation where even elementary school kids know that was lame.
Please, at least sit for a few days study old reruns of the original KR to see why it was such a hit. I don’t see how anyone producing this show could have ever watched a single show seeing what you threw at us last spring. Care about your audience first, then worry about the money. Better business for you, more KR loving for us.

I doubt KARR will show. I think if I understand the movie, it's after Devon Miles dies. I miss Devon and his mansion. I loved how KITT drove up into the semi and I loved his attitude with Michael. I hope the new KITT has the same attitude.

About Karr. With any computer there are hard drives and disks 1980s Tech. So if one was found and updated Karr. It might come back. Then updated with new tech and end up with a new genration of Karr. If the hard drives that was lost into the new movie had any info of karr. If there was a Virus karr virus can be use on kitt. Then change on kitt.
Just a few ways to add Karr.

I agree the whole idea of having Kitt transform into a truck is stupid, I think the people writing and producing this version of K.R. need to do a bit of a reality check and stop trying to see how many weird and wonderful things they can get the car to do. Looks like there combining Transformers, Viper and a smattering of other shows in to a hodge podge they call the New Knight Rider.
I will watch but I hope it's not as off the wall as it apears to be.

It seems to me that they're trying to make the show mimick too many other shows / movies all at once and appeal to too many diverse audiences all at once. And while that may not be a bad thing in itself, it should at least be a subtle mixture that doesn't overwhelm the viewer by trying too be everything all in a 45 minute or so episode.
I've noticed some form of mimicking of the following shows / movies:
1. The original Knight Rider
2. Team Knight Rider -- what with the airplane and team of people working. Also, I don't know if anyone noticed, but in the movie Mike's mom's name was Jenny. In TKR, Jenny drove the red Mustang and believed Michael Knight to be her father.
3. Viper -- the nanotech transformations and looking mainly like a normal car until it goes into its transformation
4. Tranformers -- no explanation needed
5. Mission Impossible and / or CSI -- with all the people involved and cool spy gadgets
6. 2001 Space Odyssey -- the red eye snow globe reminding one of the Hal 9000
7. The Fast and the Furious -- all the clipped scenes and stop motion
8. Batman -- what with the "KITT cave" and all
9. A soap opera or drama -- not sure which one, but with Mike working with his ex-Sarah, and all the tensions that are involved if and when either of them date other people, and of course, they're setting up drama with other people working for Knight Research
10. A Ford commercial -- with all the logos and product placements like the pickup truck
Does anyone else notice any comparisons to other shows or movies?

Will Arnett did the voice in the movie. He had to back out because someone realized that he also did voiceover work for GMC. Being a professional voice for General Motors was not good for a show that's sponsored by Ford. Val Kilmer replaced him.
If your interested, the original voice was William Daniels (Magnum PI Higgins)

Ok, let's discuss 'the bottom line.'
You've seen the premier.
Many of you have stated your distaste with the production values.
But: Who will be watching it next week? And who won't?
I for one, WILL be watching it. Am I fueling the show to continue on despite my complaints? No. Cause I am not a Neilsen family

But I will continue to voice my opinions and hope that in time, enough of the same opinion reaches the ears of the PTB and they consider some changes.
I will give the show a chance, to improve.

Man...terrible...
Man, why can't they get things right? I thought they were going to make it more serious than the movie yet I think it was worse it some aspects. Seriously, twenty-something years since the original and we still have a cheesy show with no plot and bad acting. I loved the original but we've come a long way in the production area.
I think they should have went darker with the whole show. Its worked for shows like Battlestar G. Lost, Heroes, etc. Instead I felt like I was watching a student project with someone's house music mix on repeat. Sorry, but I think I will pass on this one. Later KR!

So far we have seen really cool underground base, almost Viperish hideout. And the Flying Transport Circa Team Knight Rider. Even the Ford Pickup makes a comeback from Team Knight Rider we have a Mustang and a Pickup.
But this underground base has FBI and Knight Industries people in it. I thought Knight Industries was associated with the Foundation for Law and Government , AKA FLAG. Where is FLAG?

Okay so everyone here has posted before the premiere. SO now what do you think? I turned it off halfway through- right when they showed Washington DC aerial then proceeded to show the plane touching down in some mountainous region- then having KITT drive through said region and THEN showing a Metro system that looks nothing like DC! Come on! If you can't do DC then stick to where you can go. Not too mention the over-done CHEESY banter between Billy and Zoe- Gag Me! The 80s series was NEVER this campy. They at least tended to take themselves seriously. And speaking of seriously- a transforming KITT? Now if I remember correctly the original did add some stuff a few seasons in like the spoiler popping up and the car getting lower and sleeker- BUT changing to a Pick Up truck? GTFO!! Even the CGI looks CGI. Someone at NBC should be demoted for picking such crap to fill our Wednesday nights. Maybe I'll start going to the library or gym. I don't need my mind warped and melted by the hot mess that this new series is!

I think it was pretty good. Lets face it for a 1 hour pilot it was pretty good. Give the show a year to develop and the writers will learn to slow down and stick to the main story. Lets face it, it was setting up for the long run. Its nice to know that there will be an on-goin plot along with a weekly plot. In essence it was a car show which is what I expected. Car shows aren't known for great acting or solid plot lines. Car shows are action and adventure with hot women, hot cars, chase scenes and special effects. Keep it around and don't ask more of it than should be asked of any car show. Because of viewers who expect to be enthralled by plot lines there really aren't any car shows any more. I like a simple show...
Its better than a show that makes fun of AA (My Name is Earl). Its the only show that I DVRed because I work second shift. Also its the only show that I am interested in on local stations. Keep this show around and see what happens. 60 Minutes wasn't an immediate success nor was MASH, but look at where they are now...

The pilot kept me glued to my seat because I couldn't believe it could get any worse, but it always did!!
This is basically a 42 minute Ford commercial (complete with commercials!)

First of all it is not a Chevy. It looks more like a Bugatti or some European concept. As for the second part of the question Ford is the nemises of Chevy and always will be. So any time Ford can throw a jab a GM you can take it to the bank that they will. Like the Knight Rider Movie that started the new series that was a GMC Yukon that KITT smashed at the end. By the way nice screen name I remember that from the name of one of the episodes from the original series .

The car sucks, I mean come on ... a mustang .. what is so friggin special about a mustang. The original KITT was the best. LESS IS MORE people! I rolled on the floor laughing when I saw that it transformed. That had to be the lamest thing I have ever seen. I tuned out and will never tune in until they get rif of that god awful mustang. I still can't belive they used a cheap ford for this show. They must have been paid a lot of money to use a cheap ford mustang. There is nothing unique about the car. WHat made the original unique is that it was grounded on some plausable ideas and abilities. This new one ... forget it. GET A NEW CAR NBC!!! LESS IS MORE!!!

The best thing about the show is complaining about it. Michael Traceur is a joke. He is not even believeable as some dangerous black ops special forces war veteran. He looks like some reject from 90210. KITT is the best thing of the show, but certainly is not all that. WTH is up with the truck? "KITT transport mode time to go to my second job collect trash, and move furniture, because I suck as an actor."
They cancelled shows so much better than this show, but I won't be surprised to see this show continue for a couple of seasons. Journeyman, Dresden Files, 4400, Bionic Woman, all very good shows, and gone. The BSG producers should pick up KR, and show them how a revamp is done.
The characters are so forgettable. I barely remember any of their names. Sarah was decent, and hot!
Who would make a good Michael Knight for KR? I think someone a little bit older, if not older, someone more believable. No famous people came to mind. I guess David Hassellhoff was MK. It's hard for me to imagine anyone else, but I sure someone could. How about the guy from Eureka...Nathan Stark?
Oh, and the biggest hole I see in the first episode is killing him in public, so that he is dead to the world, but in the next episode he hooks up with an old war buddy??? Yeah that won't blow his "dead to the world" cover. What about plastic surgery to change his looks, and changing his fingerprints so there is no trace of MT.
How do they fool themselves into thinking that this show is even good? Did they ever dryrun the show in front of focus groups to get a feel of what people would think? I can tell you what I think. I think I will never watch this show again.
Get rid of the Mustang....Less is more. In all honesty the revamp needs a revamp.

Ok, I was done with this show as soon as I saw the STUPID looking "KR" in neon on the bottom of the car. That was absolutely the cheesiest thing I EVER saw. But, when the car (sorry, I just can't call it K.I.T.T.,, just CAN'T), Turned into a F-150,, THAT WAS IT,, IT WAS OVER. Also, How was a vehicle with an internal combustion engine RUNNING in a tunnel without OXYGEN?? (we already established in the movie that the car still runs on gas), But ok, I'm getting too techinical,,
The real problem is the new show doesn't have that old Knight Rider feel.
One Man,
One Car,
alone, fighting to protect the innocent.
There was no Michael, KITT relationship. None of the little comic relief parts. As soon as I saw the WHOLE TEAM of techinical people surrounded by screens, It was over right there.
The original regular cast of Knight Rider was THREE PEOPLE!! Devon, Bonnie and Michael,, THAT WAS IT. To see this show brought in this direction is really sad. They need to change the name of this show. Maybe that will make it better. This is not Knight Rider.
But what I was originally getting at is Hasselhoff wanted to be involved, and he gave suggestions, and he was pushed aside by the big producers, and the executives at FORD. I read a quote from his basically saying this was HIS idea to bring this show back, and when they said they wanted to go a totally different direction, he said he would not have "anything to do with" this show.
Good for him. I just can't believe that Glenn Larson wanted to do THIS to his show.
Please N.B.C., scrap your remaining episodes, and put an end to this. I hope N.B.C. reads these boards.

Glen Larson wants nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, to do with this show. He's off making a movie that, pray to god, will be a thousand times better than this. Glen doesn't own the rights to doing a KR show, though he tried, but he got rights to do as many movies as he wants. I just wanted to point that out, Glen Larson has nothing to do with this show. I don't even know why they list him in the credits (other than to copyright his characters, but on the movie he was listed as like executive producer or something.)
I'm surprised the Hoff was even in the movie. Heck, if I was him, I'd get as far away from this thing as possible. Cause it was his idea, he was the one pushing to get this show to come back (and he had some freakin' awesome ideas too). He even went on Leno on the 25th anniversary of KR to talk about how much he was trying to bring it back. NBC totally dropped the ball on this one. Having the Hoff on this show would have tripled the audience, just cause he is Michael Knight.

NBC trashed another good show. They did it first with the Bionic Woman and then with Knight Rider.
