Hello Everyone!
I am trying to make a fan vid in anticipation of S5!! I am looking for any song ideas that you would have for a Jim/Pam video, Dwight/Angela video or entire cast video. Any ideas you guys have would be great!
If you were watching a Jim/Pam fan video for S1-S4....what would be the perfect song?!?!
Thanks!!
Since my flanvids tend to be off the beaten track, maybe I can give you some ideas you may not find anywhere else.
I've used music by artists as diverse as Dave Edmunds, Neil Innes, Spike Jones, Ringo Starr, Nick Lowe, the Doors, the Beatles, Queen, M. Frog Labat (try to find
that on iTunes...), the Bonzo Dog Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Leon Redbone, as well as Johnny Ferreira and the Swing Machine, and music from Alice in Wonderlandİ. Not to mention medleys of bad classical music, a famous photographer's voice thru a harmonizer....
and some weird stuff too.

I've also done a mashup of artists ranging from Yoko Ono to the Rutles to Johnny Paycheck to Colin James to Todd Rundgren to the Kinks.
I've been on hiatus for a few months due to a fight with
CorpTube, but since they've begun to see sense again in recent days, I'm restarting work on a couple of things. The 3 flanvids I'm working on at present are:
The Seduction of Angela Martin (music: Mike Oldfield),
The Season 5 Promenade (music: John Foster and Sons Ltd. Black Dyke Mills Band -
Beatles fans should know this one), and
Michael Scott Sings The Blues (music: Mainline).
My hope is to get people to think outside the box and recognize that you can use just about anything in an Office context, but also to expose people to music they may not hear otherwise.
My most-viewed flanvid (
It's Good To Be The King) has about 180,000 hits and features the music of Dave Edmunds, with a bit of Van Halen thrown in. But
my favourite of every one I've every done is the 2-parter
The Office Goes To The Opera, which is the story of Jim / Pam / Roy, set to Spike Jones and his City Slickers' version of Bizet's opera
Carmen.
As for specific songs that I'd suggest...it depends on what you want your reputation to be. I don't mind being thought of as a little eccentric myself, so I tend to be somewhat unconventional. But here are a couple that I think would work:
For Jim and Pam both coming back to Scranton:
On The Way Home (Buffalo Springfield), Walking On Back (Edward Bear)
For the entire Office:
Bang On The Drum All Day (Todd Rundgren)
For Jim and Pam in general:
Oh Yoko (John Lennon)
For Angela and Andy and that other guy:
I'm Looking Through You (Beatles) or
The Grinder (Robert Cray)
For Kelly: Valley Girl (Frank Zappa)
Have fun, and don't be afraid to experiment. The more abstract your musical selections, the less likely
CorpTube is to complain about your using them.
